I don't normally stray over from the Guest Columns, but I woke up this morning and realized that I am going to Philadelphia to take part in a joint show with CZW. (Once again I blame CRZ.)
Rumours have been swirling around that CZW was going to enter into partnership with another wrestling fed. Last night, John Zandig announced that CZW would be inviting not one but THREE different promotions to do joint double-header shows in Viking Hall. The three promotions being the lucha libre influenced Chikara, Ian Rotten's IWA-MS from the Mid-South of the US and Canada's International Wrestling Syndicate from Montreal.
Selfishly, this means that since I am the Time Keeper for the IWS, that I will be keeping time and ringing the bell at Viking Hall where ECW was born.
Please excuse me while I MARK THE FUCK OUT!
We will be announcing the date for the IWS/CZW doubleheader during our UN F'N Sanctioned show, March 26th at Le Medley in Montreal.
We will see about that. I think this is a great idea though. Makes sense for all the Smart Mark Video companies to put this on when they basically have a working agreement already. I can't wait to see some live IWA-Mid South,Chikara and of course some IWS!

So do you actually keep the time of the matches? I'm just asking because I've always wondered if the WWE "timekeeper" actually keeps the time, and, if he does, why he needs to keep the time in the first place since it's not announced and there really seems to be no reason to keep it. So, if you do keep the time, what is the actual purpose? (This might sound really stupid, but it's not meant to be )

Yeah, I actually keep the time of the matches, because I am a big geek.
I can't speak for the WWE, but when I announce results I always include the time of the match. We haven't ever really done time limit matches although we did do a tag team rumble where keeping track of how long guys had been in the ring was relatively important for timing.
There are a few other reasons, but "big geek" will do, I think.
Seeing as how I am now a CZW show-goer (last night was a good show in fact), I do believe that I will be seeing your face this summer. That weekend in June should be so much fun, as someone else pointed out on the CZWfans board:
Friday- Shane Douglas ECW reunion show Saturday afternoon- IWS show Saturday night- CZW show Sunday night- WWE ECW reunion PPV show
I was once taked to task by a former WWF "superstar" for giving the correct time of his match, which was pretty much a main event squash, when I was timekeeper/bell keeper one how.
"Never give a time of less than five minutes, brother," I was told. "I'm sure it's not really your fault. They should have told you that."
This was at a sold show on a VERY HOT day at a beach-type restaurant, so most of us were just glad the show was over.
The irony is that this was a "superstar" known for having ultra-quick matches where the time would be moot. :>
