The Colts have come forward and publically stated that they will not be able to sign Edgerin James long term and may look to deal him. I would think he would make a perfect fit in Minnesota where they have a top tier QB, a solid TE and improving OL and decent WRs (that may be improved in the draft). They also have a plethora or RBs that they can trade back to Indy (Bennett, Smith and Moore) and 2 #1 picks. So would a package of Onterrio Smith and the #17 be enough for Edge? And in terms of a contract, I beleive they are $20 million under the cap.

I think you're an asshole. No, no, let me correct that, an immature asshole. Which is fine, except that you're marrying my daughter and I'm afraid that my grandchildren are gonna be little assholes.

If the Fins don't get him, then there's something rotten in the state of Florida. They NEED him.

Ricky proved that they can't win without a running game.

I think Saban has said he's not interested in Edgerrin. Rumor has it there might be a Miami/Seattle trade, where Miami gets Alexander & Seattle's 1st pick in exchange for Surtain & the #2 pick.

Personally, I'd see what it would take to get Edge before doing the Seattle trade. Even if they couldn't get Edge, I'd still have reservations about doing the Seattle trade.

In the below link, it's noted that Sabes said he'd like to acquire Edgerrin James "if the opportunity presented itself".

Part of the problem is that one of the few people talking on the record about this trade is James' agent Drew Rosenhaus, who in Gorilla Monsoon's book would have been labeled a fountain of misinformation.

As of 03/04, John Clayton said that the Vikes are $31 under the cap (of course that's pre-Fred Smoot).

I'd prefer to see Alexander in Miami. He's younger and less prone to injury.

Having said that...I'd love to have James in Miami. :)

Edge is younger by almost a full year (Alexander = 8/30/77, Edge = 8/1/78).

This article on ESPN.com (sports.espn.go.com) quotes "league sources" as saying the Dolphins wouldn't be interested in trading for James.

Well smack my ass and call me Judy...I had no idea. Edge has always seemed older to me as it feels like he's been in the league forever.

Thanks for the correction, Spiff.

Chris Mortensen says that the Cardinals are leading the race for Edge. God knows we certainly have enough room.

Wait, the Cardinals are getting both Warner AND Edgerrin? Wow, I guess they finally got around to watching that tape of Pro Bowl 2000.

I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She's a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important because we've got a lot of sports fans in this town: touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you? I'm suprised at all the talk about Miami trying to get him anyway. I thought they had a hardon for Benson in the first round. And the Vikings do NOT under any circumstances need another running back. Especially not another one who has a tendancy to get hurt.

There are beginning to be a lot of whispers in the Chicago media about the possibility of the Bears making some cap-clearing moves and taking a run at James. If this off-season brings the signings of Muhammad, James, and Fred Miller at RT, with the D they already have in place, I think the Bears become contenders for the NFC North at that point.

WITHOUT James you guys could still be contenders in the North, provided Grossman (or someone) plays good QB for you.

Well, I suppose I knew this was coming the moment Peyton Manning signed that massive contract. We knew that Edge and Marvin were gonna be free agents in '05, and knew the team probably couldn't afford to keep both of 'em.

If we have to say goodbye to one of 'em, it's probably good that it's Edge. I don't think the Colts absolutely need a superstar running back for the offense to "click" the way it has in the past-- though it does need at least a pretty good running back. Might be time for Dominic Rhodes to show us that his 1,000-plus-yard rushing season when Edge got hurt was for real.

I never thought I'd say this (at least not at this point in time), but with all of the upgrades that the Bears, Lions & Vikings have made, we could very well see the Pack finish in the NFC North cellar this upcoming season.

Every year I think that the Pack is due for a tumble, they surprise me and usually end up in first. It really doesn't look good for the Pack this year. Which means they'll be one game out of first at the end of the year when the Vikes go to choke against the last place team in the league.

Do the Vikes have the Browns or the 49ers next season?

I thought they might be able to do something last season. I don't expect anything from them this season. Two years from now they might be an above .500 team.
