I thought some of the comments on Fark were pretty interesting. Some people thought she was too hot to be a wrestler and couldn't believe that WWE released her. Of course, Vince, ever in touch with what the public wants, knew that we needed ten talentless bimb... er I mean Divas instead.

Not that I defend the hiring of the Diva contest losers that they got under ANY circumstance (especially since Orton chased off the only one that had a future in the WWE), but no one knows why Vince got rid of Gail. If you found out that she was doing something like had been using meth before matches, would that change the opinion of her being released?

I guess we will never know because the WWE would NEVER embarrass someone by letting it be known that they were fired for drug use.

My point was that no one (AFAIK) knows why they got rid of Gail. Maybe it was to save costs, maybe it was because McMahon decided he had too many people from 'Korea' that fans couldn't get behind. I used the drug reference because it's the first thing that popped in my head. To do another one, what if Gail had gotten a 'Sable' attitude, or any number of other things that are perfectly acceptable reasons to let her go? There wasn't a need to insult McMahon and his judgement just for the sake of insulting him, when there's a good chance that he was absolutely in the right.

What annoys me more is the number of people who are condemning her firing and praising her now. I never saw this many people praise her when she was still with the company. To be honest, even when she did get a couple compliments here and there for her awkward submission holds, there was nobody who was clamoring to see her wrestle on a regular basis.

I recall a lot of people condemning her firing way back in the day, especially since she went out with Jazz and Nidia at the same time. She improved by leaps and bounds once she made the transition from spot-blowing high-flyer to a submission specialist who could regularly kick Victoria's ass.

A Thread (The W) regarding the release.

Notable quotes:
-"Gail Kim was a surprise. Was she not on Raw just two days ago? She's serviceable for a womens wrestler, and since they just wasted 250gr on a woman without a day of wrestling training...oh, I guess I just answered my own question." BigVitoMark
-"I don't really get releasing Gail Kim. I doubt she was making much money and she was decent enough in the ring. Its not like they have an overwhelming amount of women wrestlers who can do a decent match." fuelinjected
-"I can see cutting Palumbo and Nidia, but Gail is a bit of a surprise. Her matches were at least a little more interesting than the other ladies when she put those cool submission moves in there." geemoney
-"Shame. I liked Gail's "mistress of weird submission holds" gimmick -- it gave her a more distinct ring style." Shem the Penman
-"Gail had taken over as the queen of mean, taking down Victoria with a series of holds and overall viciousness. She had a great look, a small build and the willingness to work the mat and the crowd. This really surprises me. A totally puzzling move." Matt Tracker
-"Gail Kim is probably the most suprising, as they seemed to want to get something going with her recently. I don't think it's a huge loss, as she's never impressed me too much. Her biggest downfall might have been being pushed too fast too soon. She won the title her first night in, wasn't on the level of a Trish Stratus or a Molly Holly workrate-wise, and has disappeared ever since." OMEGA
-"I'm a little sad about Gail, as she started her career with the indy I used to work for, and we were all so happy to see her move up to the top." The Goon

You missed the point. He wrote: I never saw this many people praise her when she was still with the company .

He meant that when she was wrestling for WWE, nobody was talking about her and the day she got fired, she was all of a sudden an important part of the company.

She may have been taken for granted, but it does appear that she was appreciated, even if it wasn't spoken in Beniot-like terms.

I also think the hindsight (that Vince pissed away damn near the entire division for a dozen or so nickel and dime plastic women) of it makes actual fans regret her firing as well.

I never mentioned it on the forums before, but I really dug Gail Kim when she was in WWE. She had a great entrance and look, and hey, what's a few blown spots anyways?

After Victoria was nerfed into stripper-girl, Gail was the only "diva" aside from Trish that I had any interest in. Her release was pretty shocking, as she had good moves and was actually able to deliver a promo (unlike certain women named Lita).

I just didn't say anything because whining appears to be generally frowned upon.

(I also, missed her and Test because it took the RAW Toronto count down, now there's only Trish, Edge, Christian, Venus)

I don't remember Gail having any promos. Granted, I miss more Raw than I see, but still.

Edit: Aside from Gail saying, "Yeah, okay." when Molly told her to do some nefarious bidding. I forgot about that.

Well, there was the

Austin: "Come again?"
Gail Kim: "That's okay. I didn't the first time."
Bischoff: "Hey!"

exchange.

*raises hand* I enjoy Rhyno. I didn't really enjoy tonight's show. I was bored by it for the most part. Whoever said this felt like Nitro from the Good days was completely right. I was never a WCW fan (except for the cruisers)
