I submit that he could. We've seen that his performance as GM, which did not work basically because he wasn't given much to do and really doesn't adhere to the nature of his character. There's no real sense of competition (except with Bischoff, and they really didn't play that up during his tenure) as GM. I think he showed some of a managerial presence when he was teamed with WGTT. If the mania match with Shawn is going to be his last (major) match then it would be great if they could somehow segue Kurt into a managerial role, maybe expand Team Angle a bit.

My other worry is that if Mania is Kurt's last match for awhile or ever, is that he's losing and the only person who is getting put over is Shawn. Ultimately, that's not someone who needs it. I can't see Shawn losing either if it is being played as an "Icon vs. Icon" deal. It would be great if Kurt could win the match at mania and then have one more match at Backlash or whatever the next PPV is against Charlie Haas, and really put Haas over. I'd like to see them do something where they put the Tag titles on Luther & Jindrak (undeserving, but it would serve the purpose of the angle), and have Kurt say how nothing makes him prouder than to have his proteges following in his footsteps and becoming champions. He can say look at Benjamin on Raw, he's held the belt for over 6 Months and has several wins over Triple H, Jindrak and Reigns are tag champs, what happened to Charlie Haas? He's a disappointment. The only way he can redeem himself is to rejoin Team Angle and learn from Kurt again. This could lead to a quick feud where Kurt puts Haas over and finally establishes him as a singles wrestler.

I apologize for the double post!

They gotta bring these back!!!:
"talk to the hand because the man don't understand." - "The Crippler" Chris Benoit
"...and that is the LAST WORD." - "The Big Nasty" Paul Wight
and of course: "Don't hate the playa...HATE THE GAME~!" - WCW World Champion Booker T

I like the idea, but I'd rather Kurt put Cena over huge instead of Haas, just because they've invested so much in Cena and they seem to believe he'll be the next big thing. I do agree though that Haas should be back with Angle.

Well the way No Way Out is shaping up Angle is going to put Cena over on Sunday. As far as him being a manager I think it could work because he is great on the mic but you would have to have him off camera for awhile before doing it. Otherwise people would be disappointed when he wasn't in the ring.

I absolutely believe Kurt could work as a manager but I'd rather see him replace Lawler on RAW as the color announcer. Tazz has done too well to be bumped from the SD role, and the RAW booth needs someone younger than 50 to present the show to the audience.

Yeah that "PUPPIES JR!!!" just now sounds perverted.
I wouldn't mind seeing Tazz bumped to RAW (invent your own angles!) to join JR as I enjoy them together at the Royal Rumbles. This leaves a spot open for Angle on SD!
Everybodys happy.

I don't think Kurt is going to retire anytime soon from the ring. Even if he's broken down, he is just not wired to stop until it is completely impossible for him to go on. His match with Rey last week in Japan showed that he can still perform at an awesome level even in his current physical condition, and if it's an issue of part-time then so be it. Personally, I think he should just have the fusion done, he has exhausted all other options and can probably wring out a couple more really good years if he just bites the bullet and does the major surgery. It got Austin a couple more years, it's gotten Benoit quite a few as well, and seems to have helped Edge and Rhyno who haven't had any problems since. In Angle case, it will only delay the inevitable but it's a good way to go.

It would also put him out for about a year while the bone fuses. If he had the surgery immediately post-WM, he'd be off TV until after SummerSlam and might not make WM22.

I don't think Angle would ever accept that timeline.

I don't think he'd be a good manager.
He'd just overshadow whomever he was with (ala Ted Dibiase.

Managers need to be sneaky and weasely, using bigger guys to elimintate their enemies.
It wouldn't work for Angle.

I wouldn't be surprised if Race Steele and Ray Steele were th same guy. Every time he's announced on HWA TV, I have to think for a moment to remember which one it is.
