5 All Stars. 2 500 HR guys. 1 sitting president. Those are some lofty allegations. Plus I'm sure that he's got more of them up his sleeves.

Now, the great debate will begin. Is he doing this because he is a bitter, ostracized former ballplayer? I'm sure that he is, but how much does that reflect on the truth fo what he said.

Rafael Palmero used Steroids AND Viagra? Look out ladies!

Seriously though, Jose needs to remember people only know him because of his baseball fame, nobody cares that he used to bang madonna or that he had a ferrari or two. He's burnign every bridge he may have had, and for what? A few grand in book publishing money?

Looks like his "wina date with Jose" on Ebay was only the begining of his selling his soul for a buck.

Jose Conseco is wrong you don't need steroids to be a baseball player. Look at all the greats Ty Cobb,Pete Rose,Babe Ruth and others. Also look at up and comers Derek Jeter and A-rod. They don't use steroids and they're good players.

I have no respect for people who use steroids regardles if they hit 700 homruns or 7 home runs. People who use steroids are an imbarresment to the game.

If Jose Canseco had a shred of credibility left I might be interested, but he doesn't, so let's move on. We know Giambi juiced, but I'd be willing to bet that Jose can't prove any of this.

Hard to call a multi-time World Series champ and a former MVP "up-and-comers." And I'd love to see your source that they don't use steroids. Don't have one, or is that merely your opinion?

Spell check, my friend. It's always great calling someone an embarrassment when you can't spell it properly...lessens your arguement just a tad.

I believe the guy. Regular androstenedione really would not beef up Big Mac all that much. Anybody ever tried it? It has been obsolete(now illegal) for years.

My guess(not an original one) is that he left the bottles of Andro out in his locker so that they would be seen. I think he used them as a smokescreen for his steroid use.

Jose does have the burden of proof and we have to give those guys the benefit of the doubt, but I'd still bet against them.

Palmero has already denied the allegations, with others not backing up Canseco...see here: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1986479

You're all missing the really important part here... Canseco didn't sleep with Madonna?

I keed, I keed. But seriously... wow. Any shred of respect Canseco had left has pretty much been flushed down the tubes, eh?

This is maybe the best story involving Jose. I don't know how true it is. Go half way down for the Ripken/Costner/Canseco post. Warning for popups. Use Firefox

Three posts below that is the link for this snopes.com page that pretty much says Costner never slept with Ripken's wife. I'd never heard the Canseco version of the story, though.

Does it involve him racing to tell Ripken while running a 4.39 40 in doing so?

(EXPLANATION: One of the many things out of Canseco's mouth over the years was his claim that at a University of Miami combine in the mid-80s, Canseco claims to have run a sub-4.4 time in the 40 yard dash, which for perspective is cornerback/Olympic sprinter speed)

I caught a preview of Canseco's 60 Minutes interview on Sportscenter last night. In his book, he apparently says that he injected Mark McGwire "many times", or at least some words to that effect. But on the interview with Mike Wallace, he first says he injected McGwire twice, and then later claims, "once or twice for sure." A little backtracking by Jose already. I sure hope the rest of his allegations fall apart this quickly, but somehow I don't think that they will.

You guys have got to be kidding me. That Canseco/Costner/Ripken story came from ESPN's Page 2. You know, the fake sports stuff?
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=schoenfield/050208
It's a joke about he's basically responsible for everything. Unless you think he gave Sammy Sosa his corked bat, helped the Red Sox win the World Series, made out with Tara Reid, and ran numbers for Pete Rose as well.

NOTE: The above post makes no sense. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I've been thinking about this for a bit, and I can't come up with an answer that I am satisfied with.

What did Jose Canseco cost himself by coming forward with this story?

It's already pretty clear that even if Jose made it to 500 HR that he won't be making it to the Hall.

Jose tried for the comeback last season with the Dodgers, but that didn't work out. He's probably done with baseball at this point, even if he doesn't write this book.

This doesn't really affect his ability to follow the Pete Rose route and do autograph sessions for cash.

Jose didn't lose any endorsements as far as I can tell. I don't know of any endorsements that he had.

So - if he is telling the truth - what reason would he have had to keep silent?

Speaking of Dibbs, there's talk around town that he will be part of the Nats radio crew. IF they ever settle on a station. Their current favorite DC station has a weak signal in NE.

Well, the only thing I can come up with is the whole "What happens here stays here" thing. Obviously, he's got nothing personal at risk with his statements. Given that he's already a confessed steroid and HGH user, why not have some financial gain from his reputation.

It's not like anyone that he accused will sue him. I would think it impossible to prove that something *didn't* happen. I'm not sure if that would be the burden of proof in a trial, but the fall out from going after him doesn't seem to offer much gain for any of the accused.
