Meltzer thinks Hogan and Gordon Solie are locks for this year's WWE HOF. All of the inductees will be announced tonight on SD. I think it would be truly awesome to see Solie honored by WWE, but for anybody else - imagine being invited the same year as Hogan. Talk about being overshadowed.
I agree. What are the chances of seeing Owen Hart inducted this year ? To think of how much more he still had to offer the business and fans. Just makes me sad.

Slim to none, probably. Owen seems to be a hot-button subject. He represents a COLOSSAL mistake the WWE made (as did Droz), so he's NEVER mentioned.

I always liked Owen, but I wouldn't necessarily think he belongs in the Hall of Fame. Then again, I don't agree with Greg Valentine being there either.
Heenan stole the show last year. I hope Iron Sheik can do it this year.

Agreed on Owen, but I hardly think D'Lo paralyzing Droz represents a "colossal mistake" on WWE's part. That was just something that happened in the course of a match, no worse than Mike Utley getting paralyzed during an NFL game.

I guess Paul Roma and Jimmy Powers will have to wait until "later in the year."

WADSWORTH: It's not a trick. There was one shot at Mr. Boddy in the study. Two for the chandelier, two at the lounge door, and one for the singing telegram. SCARLET:That's not six. WADSWORTH: One plus two plus two plus one. SCARLET:Nuh, uh. There was only one shot that got the chandelier. That's one plus two plus ONE plus one. WADSWORTH: Even if you are right, that would be one plus one plus two plus one, not one plus TWO plus one plus one. SCARLET:(thinking) Okay, fine. One plus two plus one--(angered) Shut up!
Paul "Mr. Wonderful" Orndorf The Iron Shiek Nikolai Volkoff Cowboy Ace Boxin' Bob the Bodyguard Orton Jimmy "the Mouth of the South" Hart
Nice picks, and I agree with them all, if only because I grew up watching these guys, and what is a Hall of Fame for? Equal parts recognition and nostalgia.
I predict, at the ceremony, each of these guys will be respectively introduced by:
Batista Muhammed Hassan (actually, can't think who should do Volkoff) Randy Orton Hell, who wouldn't want to introduce Jimmy?
They also said more inductees would be announced later in the year. They want to keep us guessing, but I believe that Hogan is a sure thing.
On a side note, I recently finished reading Jimmy Hart's new book. All I can say is it is awesome. It's full of great stories and for anyone who might doubt why he should be in the HoF (if anyone actually doubts it) there's more than enough in that book to warrant it.

Orndorff is a no-brainer due to his being a wrestler in the original Mania main event, plus his feud with Hogan in the summer of '86 jumpstarted the post Rock 'n Wrestling phase of the 80's WWF boom.
Hart makes it due to his managing, plus it is almost a flashing sign that Hogan will go in with him.
Volkoff for long service, plus the evil Russian heat drawing angle. Personally, I'd go with Ivan Koloff, but Volkoff was with the McMahon's for a long time.
Iron Sheik as a former World Champ, plus the famous blood feud with Slaughter.
Bob Orton? Solid wrestler who was mid-card for life. If not for the hard-on Vince has for Bob's kid, would there be anyway Bob would be in a wrestling hall of fame without purchasing a ticket? Had Don Kernodle had a kid who Vince loved, would that mean he'd be inducted next year?
Ehh...five entries doesn't look like enough for another DVD. I absolutely loved the DVD from last year's induction...But of course this year, there's no one that can steal the show like Heenan.

Now that you mention it... would there be a Bob Orton in the HoF if not for Piper? Could this be Piper's year as well?

Am I imagining things, or doesn't Orndorff have a real-life beef with Hogan going back to their feud in 86? Something about cutting off his push at the knees or something of that nature?
Other than that, it looks like a whole lot of FOH (Friends of Hogan) paving the way for the big man.
I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She's a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important because we've got a lot of sports fans in this town: touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you? One last thing: while you may be mistaking this for your monthly meeting of the Ignorant Tight-Ass Club, in this building, when the President stands, nobody sits." --- President Jed Bartlett, The West Wing
If Owen Hart wont be inducted how about Curt Henning or The British Bulldog. Both of these men could be seen as legitimate inductees. Even Rick Rude or Roadwarrior Hawk. I would also suggest Bob Backlund.
Does anyone else see Bob Orton's induction as an excuse to use him on TV prior to WrestleMania?
If Randy still ends up in the main event, you could have Triple H destroy "Ace" to add fuel to the fire. The fact that Bob and Flair have a history (and one that WWE has acknowledged) doesn't hurt, either.
Of course, the way they SHOULD have done this all along would have been to keep Randy as the heel way back in August, make HHH the face and then have Randy destroy his dad as "The Legend Killer", but what's done is done.

There will be more announced later this year.
Superstar Billy Graham, Bobby Heenan, The Junkyard Dog (posthumous), Don Muraco, Harley Race, Pete Rose, Tito Santana, Sgt. Slaughter, Big John Studd (posthumous), Greg Valentine and Jesse Ventura were all inducted last year. That's...11. Expect at least 9 or 10 to be inducted this year (because that way, we'll get sold another DVD).

Oh, Owen will go in eventually - but he'll go in when Bret does, which is entirely up to Bret, of course.
Please give Benoit and Eddy 20 minutes. Couldn't they have done RVD/Kane against Flair/Batista? RVD's streak is going to be broken! He's been on every PPV since he debuted with the company.
