Alright I have a girl coming over tomorrow and she wants to watch scary movies. I need some help in picking one out. She hates Zombie movies, as well as The Ring so any help would be great. Thanks!

That was such a clever movie.
I dislike zombie movies, and I liked Shaun up until the Harry Potter looking friend got ripped apart. From that point on, it felt like any other zombie movie to me (though the end was cool.) Take that for what its worth.

Injury prevention 4. Self-discipline 5. Sex (Trust me, you'll have a better shot with the ladies if you're in shape.)" -- Making the Game, pp. 14 - 15

My two personal favorites aren't that interesting, but have stood the test of time: Alien, The Shining.
I've yet to see 28 Days Later, but I've heard from reliable sources that it's excellent (but might be disqualified for its quasi-Zombie content).

28 Days Later is such a great movie, but the true horror comes some 3/4ths of the way in. The movie shifts its tone and goes somewhere I didn't think it would go. That is when it gets scary for me.
If the girl in question though wants to see a HORRIBLE "scary" movie, go rent Event Horizon. You will want to MST this flick, as it goes from bad to worse in record time.
WADSWORTH: The games up, Scarlet. There are no more bullets left in that gun. SCARLET: Oh, come on, you don't think I'm gonna fall for that old trick? WADSWORTH: It's not a trick. There was one shot at Mr. Boddy in the study. Two for the chandelier, two at the lounge door, and one for the singing telegram. SCARLET:That's not six. WADSWORTH: One plus two plus two plus one. SCARLET:Nuh, uh. There was only one shot that got the chandelier. That's one plus two plus ONE plus one. WADSWORTH: Even if you are right, that would be one plus one plus two plus one, not one plus TWO plus one plus one. SCARLET:(thinking) Okay, fine. One plus two plus one--(angered) Shut up!
Rosemary's Baby scared the crap out of me and a female I was seeing when we saw it. I'm a horror movie geek, but she clearly wasn't, and we rented both Rosemary's Baby and Carrie (another very good recommendation), and she enjoyed both of them.
You can't go wrong with THE EXORCIST. That's certainly good for some cuddling.
Whoever said EVENT HORIZON was 'horrible' is sadly mistaken. It's very well acted and plotted out and if you go frame by frame when they show the ships log, it's got some pretty creepy, freaky shit in there. There's an excellent soundtrack as well.
For more Sam Neil creepieness, try IN THE MOUTHS OF MADNESS and OMEN III.

"What do you think it's like being created by a manic-depressive, paranoid schizophrenic, hypochondriac, misogynist with delusions of grandeur and a messiah complex?"
This kind of off topic, but there's an amazing documentary on horror films called "American Nightmare". Sundance Channel used to show it fairly regularly. It documents the edgier horror films of the late-60's and early 70s - Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Last House on the Left, Shivers, Night of the Living Dead, etc.
It's must see even if you're not a fan of the horror genre.
"On [Election Night], the voice of the people was heard. I promise not to repeat what they said out of respect for the mentally-retarded."
AUDITION: This was the first Miike film where I finally 'got' what he's trying to do. This film freaked me out. I watched it with a friend who was in the middle of getting himself a 'mail order bride' from Vietnam and he was royaly pissed after th movie asking me why I made him watch it. I had to remind him that HE picked it cause the girl on the box was 'hot' and I had nothing to do with it.
Miike's films are all somewhat what you'd expect from a asian film in that the acting is kinda wooden and there's not much budget to work with and the plot seems to go nowhere but he uses all this to his advantage and completely turns it around into something special. It's like watching some of John Woo's early stuff before Hollywood 'discovered' him.
Edit: stuff!

I went with 28 Days Later, and it didn't go over as well as I hoped, she never was a fan of scary movies and it appears that she still isn't. Luckily the night got saved because I whipped out my copy of The Princess Bride and she loved it. So it all worked out in the end. Thanks for all your help.

Ugh. I hated Audition. Except when she threw the foot at the door. That was rather amusing.

Kekekekeke. *shudder*
I look at all the choices I've made these past few years, and it seems like I've been playing "Marty-ball" with my life. Ugh.
