Forgot to mention: I thought Cena got a bigger pop after the Rumble than Batista. It sounded like Batista got some boos (or were they shouting BOO-tista?:))

From my seat, it sounded pretty even. Batista was really over with the crowd.

We went to this bar called THE PRESS BOX last night. It's listed as a blastzone but they don't get all the PPVs, just Wrestlemania, Survivor Series, King Of The Ring, Summerslam, and the Rumble. They said they might start getting them all if more people start showing up, which was funny since the place was packed last night.

The bar was crowded and most people were drunk before the show started, it seemed. DirectTV made us miss the first match and the ppv started up just as Undertaker was coming out. Luckily, they showed the replay right afterwards so we just stayed and drank and watched it again.

The loudest pops from the bar were for the Wrestlemania commercial, Undertaker, Bob Holly, and Vince... in that order; I'm embarrassed myself over that. VERY odd crowd, it was. The Wrestlemania spot was dead on perfect, from Eugene offering the woman chocolates to William Regal yelling "Run, Eugene, run!!"

Personally, I don't know if it was the booze or me, but I marked out for Kane coming out of the casket; for some reason, I wasn't expecting it, but in retrospect, I know I should have been.

I'd have to say the MVP of the show was Christian, every bit of screentime he got was used to it's full advantage. Pure comic gold. Vince comes in second only because we haven't seen him in a while and that leg bump he gave himself looked pretty bad for an old guy like him. I hope he's alright.

This show defineatly made up for a good chunk of the crap shows they'd been giving us lately and I'm psyched for Raw AND Smackdown this week to see where the fallout is going.

Whoever said they must be the only one looking forward to an Undertaker/Kane Vs Heidenreich/Snitsky match, you're wrong. I think it'll be a fine match to cap off one horrible storyline (Undertake/Heidenreich) and perhaps help bring Matt Hardy in for the Kane/Snitsky stuff. For some god awful reason, I've actually allowed Gene Snitsky to become a guilty pleasure out of all this mess... back acne and all.

You're not the only one. From the first time I heard the mere rumor of this match, I was as giddy as an eight year old school girl.

But for things to be complete, I need Kane back to wearing his mask for the match.

According to this week's Wrestling Observer, the finish of the Rumble match was botched. Cena and Batista weren't supposed to both go over the top rope at all - Batista was meant to attempt the Batista Bomb, Cena would escape but get hit with it at the second attempt, then be thrown out. However they both lost balance when Batista lifted Cena up and fell over the top rope accidentally.

If that's true, it looks like Cena pulled off some pretty swanky quick thinking. If you watch the tape it's clear that Batista is gonna hit the floor once he starts to topple over the rope. Cena must have seen it coming and thrown himself through quicker, so that they had a ready-made excuse for restarting/awarding the match to Batista/whatever.

More from that issue (reworded by myself):

The refs rose Batista's hand as directed by Vince in the headset, but when it became clear that they both hit the floor at approximately the same time, he made the call to do a tie finish. He then said he was coming out to explain what to do (which explains why no music was cued for his entrance).

I don't know how in the heat of the moment Cena could not only realize that something was going wrong, but also how wrong, and also know enough to throw himself down faster. I watched it and although Batista was going over first because Cena was on top of him, Batista (or 'Dave', if I'm Flair) bounced a bit on the ropes until Cena's weight pushed him over and down. I think Cena's main thought at the time was to get his arms/legs/whatever he could on the floor fast just to brace himself.

In any case, it was obvious that the ending was botched right away, so I'm just impressed that everyone involved was able to pull everything together and make the most of it. If they had another 60 seconds or so left on the PPV, Dave and Cena could have done a couple sequences together to make everyone forget about what had just happened (at least a little bit).

An interesting idea and certainly one that I wouldn't mind, but the initial reason for making WM four hours long was not so much that it was a necessity as it was a means of making WM stand out as the biggest show of the year (oh yeah, and a justification...
