Sadly, the only reason I can see is extending the feud until WrestleMania, for the tag match that NOBODY wants to see.

Hey, at least it lumps them all into one match.

OK, I know this is VERY VERY unlikely to happen, but I need to get this written down and posted in case it does -

I think that Edge wins both the match with HBK and the Rumble itself, while Orton defeats HHH, only because of the matches it will set up.

You get the title away from HHH, and leave him free to take on Batista at Wrestlemania, sans title.

You get Edge (with all kinds of momentum)in a title match with a truly up-in-the-air outcome, and WWE gets Orton in the main event, which they seem to want. Edge is the guy who is totally focused on the big belt these days, so it fits with his story. As a bonus, you get Batista as the next hot babyface contender.

You get HBK in a feud against whoever eliminates him from the Rumble - maybe someone from Smackdown, maybe not, but there is enough time to set up the story, no matter what it is.

The other matches? No predictions from me, because I only get to watch RAW.

I'm predicting winners to be JBL, HHH, Edge and Taker. Batista wins the Rumble, Benjamin is #1 and Snitsky is #30.

Man, on paper i'm not too thrilled about this Royal Rumble, the only matches I'm looking forward to are Edge/HBK and the Rumble. The Rumble does look pretty weak, and I'm not thrilled that Cena is probably going to win, but I'm a big fan of the Rumble. I'm not positive but I think a pretty common way to end the Rumble is with one face and one heel (with the face usually winning and getting his title chase). I think it would be interesting if this year it ended with 4 faces. Cena, who would go on to win it and Eddie, Benoit, and Jericho, just to throw them a bone and let them know that they are still in the mix. I think the crowd would actually get really into it to have possibly the 4 biggest faces in the company all remaining, plus I'm sure the 4 of them can come up with some good action. Also I could see Benoit being #1 again this year and teasing the possibility of him going from beginning to end again only to be the last guy eliminated.

I also like the idea of the Diesel push being a small guy, but I really doubt London would ever get such a push. I think a more likely choice, and a better choice at this point is Rey Mysterio Jr. I don't think they've really used him as well as they good, if they would actually push him I think he would actually be a credible opponent against bigger guys. I say he comes in uses his speed and quickness to eliminated a good amount of guys, and eventually wins the IC title when Cena drops it.

Now I guess going by rumors, the way things are being booked, and personal opinion here's a list I think of the only real possible, viable winners for tonight:

Batista
HBK
John Cena

I haven't really been watching Smackdown! lately, has Cena been booked like a guy that could win?

Kind of. This year, they haven't booked anybody as being a favorite. Most people seem to think that Cena and Batista are the most likely winners. On Smackdown, he's definately been pushed to the forefront, but not to a position where you're certain he's gonna win.

Yeah. On one hand, Cena's destroyed everyone who challenges him these days -- but on the other hand, we're talking about guys like Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree, not main eventers. Cena's still where he's always been: upper midcard with the potential to move up.

But compare & contrast the booking behind Big Show and John Cena. Big Show is billed as a monster. He's 500 pounds. He can destroy you and you can just brush it off as "Well, he DOES have 300 pounds on me!". Big Show destroying Kenzo Suzuki is FINE. Kenzo can't move Show, and he's not as big or as strong. When John Cena does the same thing to Kenzo, it completely buries him.

Kenzo Suzuki should be completely buried.

I think the dudes who are predicting Snitskyference in the casket match are on the right track. It's the perfect (and only) way to "beat" Undertaker, it shoots the interpromotional angle for Mania, and the dream teams tag match really is the only thing that makes sense for those guys. It is almost kind of cool to have two guys as retarded and horrible as Snitsky and Heidenreich teaming together.

(FWIW, the Torch has also mentioned a possible interbrand match of Undertaker vs. Orton with an Orton heel turn and the potential legend-killing of the Wrestlemania streak.)

Also, Benjamin should be #1 (and get the endurance push) and Haas should be #2.

I have no idea why but I'd be saddened to see Taker lose his WM unbeaten record. I think its something to do with the fact that most of my greatest moments in WWF/E were associated with Takers various turns/performances. I just hoped that somewhere in McMahons mind, he would recognise the sacrifices and loyalty that Taker has shown the company and give him the unbeaten record until retirement.

Back on topic, I'd like to be surprised with the Rumble as as has been mentioned, no-one seems to have been booked as the obvious winner this year, and they could possibly elevate a talent not yet utilised properly into the main event scene. Maybe Booker or give Edge the legitimacy that he needs.

But its probably going to Batista. Not that thats a bad thing. He IS the most entertaining reason to watch RAW at the moment and I'm highly anticipating the eventual turn on Hunter.
