I didn't want to start a whole new thread for this stuff, but the others had closed, so I'll go ahead and do some news stuff first as not to be (overly) annoying...

Free Comic Book Day #4 has been announced for this year, May 7th, with some nice little surprises. Dark Horse's freebie will be an 'exclusive' EPISODE III tie-in; Devils Due's freebie is scheduled to be a flip-book featuring the new G.I.JOE on one side and their new TRANSFORMERS on the other; Gemstone will reprint Don Rosa's first UNCLE SCROOGE work from UNCLE SCROOGE #; and Tokyopop joins in on the fun this year with free copies of some of their books.

The TRANSFORMERS books have a new home now that Dreamwave closed shop. DEVILS DUE, the company that puts out the G.I.JOE books swiped up the licensing rights to the line from Hasbro and will be putting out all new books that DO NOT envolve Simon Furman writing or Pat Lee(et al...) drawing. Josh Blaylock will be handling the direction of the series.

On another note, Devils Due is cancelling the G.I.JOE books and restarting from scratch. The regular series will end with Issue #45.

Marvel's HOUSE OF M is slowly starting to take shape. Word is that it will be a massive killing spree on the mutant community as to allow being a mutant feel 'special' again.

Six weeks between issues... more like six weeks between my ASS! IRON MAN issue #3 will be about a month late and issue #4 about two months late. A damn shame cause even in spite of the retconing of the series, it's a decent read AND a damn beautiful book to look at.

Mark Verheiden will be taking over the writing chores on SUPERMAN after Azzarello and Lee's run. Who's Mark Verheiden you ask? He's not only an executive producer of SMALLVILLE, but his comic work dates back to the early eighties when he wrote the first (...and best) ALIENS miniseries for Dark Horse. Let's hope he brings some of THAT kind of writing to the book, but he'll probably just make it more like SMALLVILLE.

Peter David's riding Marvel for all they're worth it seems; thanks to his MADROX mini-series selling well, Marvel's giving him a new X-FACTOR book later this year. It'll be a ongoing series and it'll tie into HOUSE OF M... I REALLY hope Strong Guy pops up, and you only PRAY I'm joking.

POWER PACK #1 comes out in June... all is right with the universe.

Poor Peter Milligan and Darick Robertson. Marvel has them doing the sequel to the nicely drawn yet horribly written VENOM VS. CARNAGE miniseries. Look for it later this year as well.

Mark Millar's taking a break from MK SPIDER-MAN and Reginald Hudlin will be taking it over with issue #13.

Marvel wants to keep ASTONISHING X-MEN going after Whedon's run. Expect another fandom type writer/director to be announced soon to take it over.

And you thought 'Disassembled' was over with? GLA (GREAT LAKES AVENGERS) is an EXTREMELY LATE tie in, coming out this year.

Cancellations, you ask... Well, FALLEN ANGEL's gone with issue #24.

Considering they just resurrected not one but two dead X-Men (Collosus and Psylocke), the massive killing spree is probably just going to be the C-listers. On the plus side, maybe they'll kill off Thunderbird. I hate that guy.

The other mutant news, though, sounds pretty good to me. New X-Factor(which I started reading just before it got cancelled last time) and Astonishing ongoing (even without Whedon; there are other good writers out there) are plenty fine by me. I would like to know why Devil's Due is restarting G.I. Joe though. It seemed like it was going along just fine to me.

Good news(or is it bad news?): If the end of the MADROX mini-series is any indication, Strong Guy will definitely be around, as will Wolfsbane. Hmmm, what's Polaris been up to lately?

From today's Wizard...

Apparently, as a part of Mark Millar's first arc on Ultimate Fantastic Four, the team will travel to the "end" of the Negative Zone and find an alternate reality where Reed and Sue are already married with children, amongst other developments. It will turn out to be the "official" 616 Universe, and potentially sets up the first ever cross-over between Ultimate and Regular Marvel.

Millar's basically confirmed this to be true on his website today, too. In his hands, this could either be awesome or a frightening abomination, given his tremendous talent for sweeping, "wide screen" action but annoying tendency to radically alter the status quo after his short runs on titles. But I'm definitely intrigued.

I'm also more optimistic about the future of the Transformers license in the hands of Devil's Due now that they signed artist Don Figueroa to an exclusive deal. At least now the title will remain the intricately-crafted gem it was under Dream Wave, albeit with horrific plot (see GI Joe vs. the Transformers).

Acting crazy over in Adjectiveless X-Men. But then, Austen was writing her, so a little insanity is to be expected. Madrox didn't sell terribly well, though -- it was down there with stuff like Mystique, Captain America and the Falcon, Emma Frost, and She-Hulk, titles that have one foot in the grave (or, in some cases, both feet). Guess Marvel has more faith in PAD, though.

Hey, Guido's what got me to read Madrox in the first place!

And with David's ending "Fallen Angel", let's hope he finally ties up the Is she/Isn't she Linda Davers bit.
