I find Rob Dibble to be the least knowledgeable analyst I have ever heard. He usually resorts to the "you never played the game" argument. He is not enlightened to other ways of constructing a roster or managing a game.

Hopefully, some of that was part f the act. The trouble may be that he needs a straight man to make it work. I think he possesses the knowledge but a goofball left to his own devices is trouble. Or if he plays it straight, he's in trouble.
Even if it was just part of the act, it's likely to part of the act again. It worked when Dan, Phil, and even Rob were winking at the flimsy reasoning.
Over the weekend, and before the offical XM annoucement, there was an update in the Hartford paper, where the anger at losing his job hasn't worn off Dibble quiet yet, though he makes a point of thanking ESPN and people who worked there.
There's one interesting quote...

"It was a working relationship," Dibble said.
...but I'm guessing Dibble feels that's mutual, or he'd still have be his friend's sidekick.
I don't restrict my dislike of Dibble's analysis to the Dan Patrick Show either. I thought he was pretty lousy on Baseball Tonight as well, and that's saying something given that Harold Reynolds still has a job.

That certainly comes as a suprise to me, especially after hearing DP finally explain why Dibbs was off the show & mentioned that they were friends. They always came off as best buds on the air too.
While I think the show is worse off without a co-host, I do not miss Ron Dibble. He was so arrogant and generally held outlandish opinions and was often flat wrong or misinformed on many topics. It was comical when they would talk about BALCO and steroids. Although basically all the media doesn't know what the hell they are talking about when it comes to performance enhancing supplementation, Dibble would often try to take the helm as local expert just because he works out.
If he does not have a straight man for his new show he will fail miserably.

He came back and said, `Well, I can't really talk about that,' you know, blah, blah, blah. `He's pursuing other things.' Obviously when you're let go you have to pursue other things."
I found this quite interesting as well, as Dibs is basically saying Dan lied when he spoke about him on air that day two weeks or so ago. I remember Dan saying that he didn't want to say what Dibs was going to do next, because there were a couple of offers and he wasn't sure which one he would take. If what Dibs says is true, then this obivously was not the case. Also, if it is true, it would make me think much less of Dan.
I would have loved to have heard that call, but I have been cutting down on my listening to the show in the last week or so. The re-run of Czabe is on at the same time (first two hours at least), so I have been listening to that. You can usually tell what Dan is going to talk about for the whole three hours by the first minute or two, so I listened to that, and since I know we are going to be subjected to two weeks of T.O., I listened to Czabe, who by the way is great.

Patrick hosts the show like he's playing King Of The Mountain for three hours. 20 minutes of KotM is fun and all, but three hours of playing KotM, where you know the guy on top is never ever going to allow the game to be played where he's knocked off his perch, is kinda boring.

I heard that call yesterday while in the car. I don't get a chance to listen to the show as much as I used to, but I HAD noticed Dibble's absence. So I was glad to hear his dismissal confirmed.
And it's great I found a place to talk about it. Thank you, Google! Really enjoying the discussion, guys.
Mark...That would fit in well with what Dibble called a "working relationship." Anytime those words are used, you know its a situation where they were doing it solely for the benefit of the show. Dibs really got the short end of the stick on this one. I thought he was pretty good on Baseball Tonight as well. Where did you hear that? If it is true, it would cause me to lose a lot of respect for Dan. I used to listen to all three hours of his show, but now I listen to Czabe for the two hours and then TK (who I record on Replay Radio.) I hope, oh how I hope that the internet show will return. Andy for some reason always seems to be against it when the idea is mentioned, but TK seems wholeheartedly for it. I haven't heard Gary tell us his opinion on it. I always thought that TK would either be on channel 165 (Ask!) or 152, unless they signed some other sports talkers and made a station solely for them, which I don't see happening. I don't get the XM secrecy behind the whole deal, but they are doing the same thing baseball, so I guess thats just their MO. They announced Dr. Laura and G. Gordon Liddy at the same time, and they are going on 152, so it would only be logical to assume thats where TK would land as well.
What exactly do you guys mean by a return of the TK internet show? The TK show is on the internet, or are you refering specifically to where they would stay live through the commercials?
"The Internet Show" is what it was called when TK, Andy, Denis and Kevin (and usually Wilbon) did schtick during the breaks on the Net on the ESPN show.
