The only thing I can say about this man is that for the last 4 weeks I watched his defense(SAINTS) give up over 120 points. He must have tight connections with the Florida football program.
It's hard to blame the guy for the fact that the whole team, on both sides of the ball, just outright quit. That said, the Saints D was not nearly as fearsome this year even before their ungodly collapse at the end of the season.
So what are the Saints gonna do to improve for next year? I heard that there are alot of problems on the team. One rumor I heard is that Joe Horn got Willie Roaf's wife pregnant.....
Well getting rid of Zook was a start. Cam Cleeland is history, Rick Williams needs velcro, Josh Reed of LSU (WR) would be a nice draft pick, Kyle Turley takes the Kevin Greene path into the WWF this offseason.
As for the Joe Horn, Willie Roaf deal I have heard too many rumors about this, the latest was that Master P was involved?
what bothers me about Zook isn't wther or not he's qualified for the spot. The Gators are going to lose a lot of recruiting over the next couple of years because nobody will have heard of this guy. I think since they didn't get Shanahan or Stoops, they should have just promoted one of Spurrier's former assistants.
"This team is in the playoffs and we expect to do some damage because every team up there, we can play with." -- DT Warren Sapp
Quoth enomis "One rumor I heard is that Joe Horn got Willie Roaf's wife pregnant....." Damn, I haven't heard of anything that juicy since the Chicago Bulls fired Doug Collins for sleeping with Jerry Reinsdorf's daughter...or Jerry Krause's daughter, I get the two cretins mixed up. But either way, I know Collins was fired for screwing someone whose dad was named Jerry. Of course, since Phil Jackson took the job after that I guess it all worked out in the end.
I don't think it really matters how well Ron Zook did in the NFL, this is college football, not the NFL.
Zook was with Florida from 91 - 95. From 91 - 93 he was the defensive coordinator, in those seasons Florida was the only SEC school to rank among the league's top four run defenses in all three seasons, rating second in 93, fourth in 92, and first in 91.
In 1994 he was special teams coordinator, and they broke the record for blocked punts that year.
Then in 1995 he was associate head coach and defensive coordinator and put the defense together that would win them the National Championship in 1996, even though Bob Stoops gets the credit for that since he was the defensive coordinator in 1996.
Anyway, there is no doubt in my mind he'll be a good coach. Will it hurt our recruiting? Probably so, especially on offense. So maybe we'll lose to Miami and FSU the next couple years. But even after Miami and FSU get the players they want that still leaves us with good enough players to beat the South Carolinas, Georgias, Auburns, LSUs, and Alabamas of the world. The only one we need be worried about is Tennesee.
Speaking of Kyle Turley, am I the only one who sees him following the Steve McMichael career path...minus possibly the whole having his wife divorce him and marry Steve Austin bit?
Enomis, What makes you think Kyle Turley is the reason we lost all those games?? Kyle Turley was the least of our problems. I blame the coaching staff for letting the season gt out of hand after the Rams loss.
CM - I am not saying that Kyle Turley was the reason for anything, I am just saying that I HATE HIM! He gets on my last nerve. Why dosen't he go back to California where he can surf??
Okay, I think we all feel a little cynical when it comes to pro athletes, but maybe we could give Elvis the benefit of the doubt? He made how much money over the last few years? I would guess he is a millionaire many times over.
