As it has now been documented and made clear that the Rock is appearing at Wrestlemania in some form or fashion what does everyone think his role will ultimately be?

Heres my two cents I mean pounds...

With mohammed hassan getting so much heat and crowd hate on Raw at the moment It got me thinking that as the weeks go by they could build him up and up to a point where the crowd are just begging him and daivari to get there asses handed to them, after weeks of interference ridden matches where he either wins legitamately or by cheating. The crowd just want someone to come down and demolish him and daivari. The countless beatdowns on JR etc could continue and the promos of him putting down the US and all of the wrestlers he has beaten throughout the weeks could continue week by week until one Monday night 2 weeks before Mania he beats down or picks on someone like stacey or JR one to many times and as the king lies helpless, and hussan stands over a bleeding JR with a chair with the crowd as hot as ever, the Rocks music hits and he runs down for the save which results in him challenging hussan to a match at Wrestlemania.

I think Rock should go over at Mania as its ages since he's won a match plus it would keep the fans happy, after all I cant see it hurting hussan being beaten by one of WWE's biggest stars.

Either that or a match with Flair after the reaction to the match last year at Mania. Although if rumours are to be believed Flair looks to be facing Foley but who knows? Anyone else have any ideas?

Right... now where exactly was that "documented and made clear" again?

Its rumored right now he'll appear, but I remember hearing and seeing newsbits of him saying he will come back for Mania, so we will see. Of course, we were dismissing those rumors last year at this time as well and he came back to job to Orton which was hella stupid. I would hope Rock to come back and do a program with Cena, the promos alone would be worth it. Mohummad is another evil forgiener gimmick and Rock does not need to come back and job to him. I would prefer the rumored Rock/Hogan vs. anyone those two together are always fun to watch. At the end of the day, its Rock and he is more over and more fun to watch than 90% of the two rosters combined.

Slow down... what kind of dog is it?

Benoit looks to be without a program at the moment, by the way... unless they put together a Jericho feud for him for Mania. Rock could fit there.

OK, I hate to ruin everyone's night, but according to Da Meltz on Wrestling Observer Live, the WWE is in talks to have him come back and face JBL at Mania. But by the way that Meltzer said it, it sounded as if the WWE would have to do some work to convince him to take that match.

They would have to do some real talking, throwing money and paying for a house to get me to do that match and I would give my life savings just to do a promo on Velocity. I don't think thats the best fit for Rock since he'd becoming back just to job to JBL which is embarrassing enough when the entire Smackdown roster minus Cena does it. Vince's hard on for JBL is ruining the show and killing any real main event fued they have with him. I say bring him back to job to Cena, you know someone who needs it.

The thing about a Hassan fued and Rock "finally winning a match" or whatever, is that Rock will spurr buyrates for Mania on the promise of kicking his ass, but will end up jobbing to him just like he jobbed to Orton, at least thats how I see it. From the WWE's perspective- it wouldnt make sense putting Rock over, if he's not gonna be there save three times a year when he'll get the huge pops anyway. (but then, as the JBL situation shows-sometimes "sense" escapes the WWE).

AFan, I see where you're going- but I just imagined a possible match between Cena and Rock and even in my head it was freakin' stupid. COLE: "After narrowly evading the People's Elbow, Cena.. Oh my god! Its the five-knucklle shuffle! Oh my god! Its all over!!"

dumber and dumberest.

Right now, IMO- The U.S. title is more important than the WWE Heavyweight title simply because of how its being presented.

Is this the general consensus of the IWC? I personally think that, while JBL isn't the best wrestler in the world, he and his gimmick make a good champ.

It's a bad idea only for the fact that the crowd would most likely crap all over JBL winning. Okay, it's not even a "most likely" situation, they would crap all over it.

But try to remember that the only reason that JBL has no credibility is that he hasn't been booked as a strong champion, but as a guy that is holding onto the title by scraping by with luck and cheating. Maybe a big win is what JBL needs to make him seem more than just a mid-carder holding the strap. Triple H had no cred either until the series with Foley.

I'm just playing Devil's advocate though. I don't think it's a match that anyone really is interested in seeing. But I have no desire to see a Rock/Hogan tag match either. In fact, Hogan should get his Hall of Fame award and that's it.

They gotta bring these back!!!:

The thing with JBL vs Rock is that if JBL wins, which would be the almost certain result, than it strengthens JBL. But at the same time, my impression is that JBL will be heading to the end of his reign come Mania, so why bother giving him the big win rather than someone on their way up?

Because who on the Smackdown side needs that big of a boost? The only one I can think of is Cena and do you really want Wrestlemania to end with :

Tazz : The doctor of Thuganomics is the new WWE champion.
Cole : This has been the greatest Wrestlemania ever. Good night.

WWE Logic: Any one of the "Big Three" (Rock, Austin, HHH) holding a title elevates that title. The fact that Triple H, Benoit & Co. have been fighting over the World Title over the past year has arguably made it the showcased title in WWE. If, say, The Rock won the WWE Title from JBL, he'd give the title the added luster people have said it's lacked lately. Plus, whoever beats him for the title gets an instant rub (just like Brock Lesnar & Kurt Angle got).

I, personally, would love to see Booker T defeat JBL for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Then again, I pay very, very little attention to SmackDown, since I almost always work on Thursday.

Not sure how true this is, but somebody over at ukff.com is claiming that The Rock is finished with WWE. They're saying that his contract ran out on 12/31/04 and it was not renewed. He turned down a WrestleMania role and will now just concentrate on his movies.

I've been reading that at various sites, as well. It would be a shame because while Rock is a pretty decent actor, his core audience comes from his WWE fanbase. If he didn't have that advertising outlet, I shudder to think of how the box office receipts for his films will be. That is, of course, if he's not surrounded by an A-list cast (see: Be Cool & Instant Karma).

I would think it just means most likely he'll be working any future WWE endeavors on a per-appearance basis, rather than any long-term commitment. If that ends up as the case, it's good for all parties, as Rock can work them in around his filming schedule without worrying about any minimum appearance clauses, and the WWE can take his contract off their payroll and enter a pay-as-you-go program in future dealings. And though the WWE doesn't have the name rights anymore (the name "The Rock" was purchased some time ago from WWFE by The Rock), there are other ways for them to make money off his movie career (i.e. investment, selling advertising, etc).

But AFAIK there's been no falling out.
