Gut reaction: Better than Victory Road, not as good as Turning Point. Anyone else watch this?
Here are some quick thoughts.
Match of the Night: Ultimate X, duh. This ran about 20 minutes and had some great spots, including th finish, which saw Petey Williams and Chris Sabin hanging from the cables, pulling the belt off and tugging it back and forth between them. Then AJ Styles sprang off the top rope, knocked the belt out of their hands, and grabbed it himself, taking the X Division title for the 4th (I think) time. This match also included the...
Bump of the Night: Styles is hanging off a cable and Sabin hits a springboard dropkick to Styles's stomach. Styles flies backwards, letting go of the rope, and somersaults in midair befpre crashing to the mat. Nutty! Crowd chants "THIS IS AWESOME!"
Lamest bump of the Night: Kevin Nash is in a three-way elimination match to determine the #1 contender. Eliminations can be over-the-top-rope-to-the-floor, a stip which I might guess was put there to protect Nash from getting pinned. Nash goes over the top rope, propelled by his own momentum and DDP, and he lands sitting on the apron -- and then he HOPS DAINTILY TO THE FLOOR. Pffft.
Biggest surprise: ABYSS! ABYSS! THE MONSTER ABYSS! As Jeff Hardy is celebrating his victory over Scott Hall and declaring himself contender for the belt, ABYSS COMES OUT AND DESTROYS HIM! SHOCK TREATMENT! BLACK HOLE SLAM! I dunno if this was a "working the smarks" scenario or if it was a "things change" deal ("Abyss, here is a bucket full of money. Come back"), but I am very pleased.
Lamest non-surprise: Jeff Jarrett retains his title against Monty Brown. Sure, it took a guitar shot, chair shot, belt shot, ANOTHER guitar shot, and THREE (!) Strokes, but man, I was really disappointed. You could see that the crowd was none too happy, either (or maybe I'm projecting). Argh. Will this lead to a special stipulation next month? It better.
Worst angle with a potentially interesting outcome: The Trinity - Traci - Fairplay treasure hunt. I ignored most of it, but Trinity and Traci, as the winners (after kicking Fairplay's ass) have to go out and each find a Tag Team who have not wrestled in TNA before to fight against each other. I like Tag Teams. I wonder if the individual wrestlers have to be new to TNA, or just the teams, if you see what I mean. COULD ONE OF THE TEAMS BE TEST-N-ALBERT?
Manager of note: Oh, man, D'Amore was awesome, especially during the (very good!) Team Canada vs. AMW match. He was also great being thrown out during UltX and throwing a little tantrum at the top of the ramp.
Two matches in a row with outcomes that I really can't get behind: Dustin Rhodes beats Kid Kash. Eric Watts beats Raven. Blchhh.
Anyway, I thought is was a pretty good show, and the last hour or so was really good.
Say, does anyone know who the new guy is who's got those "COMING!" promos? They show his face, but I don't recognize him. Anyone know? Scott Christ?

Scott Christ's become a wrestler?!
Once upon a time in China, some believe, around the year one double-ought three, head priest of the White Lotus Clan, Pai Mei was walking down the road, contemplating whatever it is that a man of Pai Mei's infinite power contemplates - which is another way of saying "who knows" - when a Shaolin monk appeared, traveling in the opposite direction. As the monk and the priest crossed paths, Pai Mei, in a practically unfathomable display of generosity, gave the monk the slightest of nods. The nod was not returned. Now was it the intention of the Shaolin monk to insult Pai Mei or did he just fail to see the generous social gesture? The motives of the monk remain unknown. What is known, are the consequences. The next morning Pai Mei appeared at the Shaolin Temple and demanded of the Temple's head abbot that he offer Pai Mei his neck to repay the insult. The Abbot at first tried to console Pai Mei, only to find Pai Mei was inconsolable. So began the massacre of the Shaolin Temple and all 60 of the monks inside at the fists of the White Lotus. And so began the legend of Pai Mei's five point palm exploding heart technique.
I saw Final Resolution.Better than Victory Road and New Years Revolution but I didn't see Turning Point so I can't say it was better then it. Most of the match's were main events on Impact! But the AMW vs Team Canada match was wild. The Triple X match was the first one of seen so in my view that was the best one. Main Event was stupid. I like Monty Brown but when he gets a title shot then loses all the time it makes me lose intrest.Other than that I'm happy I got it.

Color me also quite pleased that Abyss is still in the fold...at least for now. That ups the chances on getting him for another ACW-NWA Wisconsin show this year. Man, I wanna work with him again...coolest mo'fo in wrestling.

Were the strokes different? *ducks*
Originally posted by MayhemAs for the PPV, I hope that with AJ winning the X division title, it's sets up a lengthy feud with Christopher Daniels.
They have fought before...at least for ACW-NWA WI.

Hey, this PPV was awesome compared to the way the WWE got out of the gate with there "New Years Revolution". It's not there fault totally but in some cases it is.
I really loved the AMW vs. Team Canada. This was the first ultimate X match I was able to witness on PPV or since its inception. It really lived up to what I wanted to see.
Monty Brown vs. Triple J was also good but still not exactly what I hoping for overall the card was pretty soild and yes the surprise of the night was the MONSTER Abyss. I agree I think it was playing the smarks to get some hype around the company. Anyways, if you want something different from the WWE watch NWA-TNA it's starting to be worth it.
