Typically the SAGs are a good precursor for the acting Oscars, as they're voted on by most of the same people.

Wow. There's probably only one movie that I've seen from these 5 actors in all of their careers that I didn't like. Hell, I'm having fun watching Johnny Depp in old 21 Jumpstreet episodes. Whoever wins this category deserves it, athough I'd put my vote in for Foxx as he was awesome in Ray (and it's the only one of the 5 I've seen).

I was knocked out by Virginia Madsen in Sideways. She was meek, articulate and grounded -- qualities I haven't seen her do before.

I'm not usually the biggest Leonardo fan, but I just saw "The Aviator" and was absolutely into it. After a while, he stopped being Leonardo and became Howard Hughes.Cate Blanchett as Hepburn was great also. and He's only in one scene, but Willem Dafoe makes an appearance too. I highly recommend it.Haven't seen any of the other movies though, so I can't be entirely objective as far as awards go.

I haven't seen Kinsey and Hotel Rwanda yet, but if Blanchett doesn't win for Aviator I will use a hook to gut many SAG members, thus cleansing the gene pool. After that film and Steve Zissou she became my new girlfriend, and there's nothing you can do to stop me.

(Yeah, Madsen was better in Sideways, but of the nominees that film deserves Best Picture and probably Best Actor, so can't we share the love?)

I don't know if Hayden Church deserves to win (haven't seen Million Dollar Baby or The Notebook) but if he does my head may explode.

Who knew that Wings was the home of some of the best actors of our generation? I'm still waiting for that career-changing Amy Yasbeck performance.

Wow, I totally HATED her performance in Aviator. She was trying way too hard to do an impression of Katherine Hepburn, not a performance. If I wanted an impression, I'd go watch Martin Short on SCTV. It was disappointing, since I usually love Cate Blanchett.

Natalie Portman's omission from the BSA category is a shame.

I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She's a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important because we've got a lot of sports fans in this town: touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you? One last thing: while you may be mistaking this for your monthly meeting of the Ignorant Tight-Ass Club, in this building, when the President stands, nobody sits." --- President Jed Bartlett, The West Wing

Agreed. She was awesome in Garden State and in Closer. Actually, I am surprised Garden State has not been nominated for anything. I though Braff and Portman were great and the movie itself has already made my personal top 10 ever list.

I think you're an asshole. No, no, let me correct that, an immature asshole. Which is fine, except that you're marrying my daughter and I'm afraid that my grandchildren are gonna be little assholes.

Natalie Portman should totally win, and for Garden State and not Closer at that, because it doesn't get much more adorable *or* hilarious *or* good.

I don't want to type out all the TV nominees but will use it as an excuse to talk about Arrested Development.

Best Actor in Comedy Series has Bateman for Arrested, Sean Hayes for W&G, Raymond for Raymond, Charlie Sheen for 2.5 Men, and Tony Shalhoub for Monk. The cast of Arrested is also nominated for best ensemble as they don't do supporting categories. Let us face it though, Jessica Walter also kicks the ass of all their female nominees.

They should give the Best Dramatic Actor to Gil Grissom because he's cool, not to mention super-smart at solving crimes and bugs. He's not nominated though.

When the Emmys roll around, although I will always be grateful to them for Doing The Right Thing and giving AD that sweet sweet award, they do need to rectify themselves by getting Bateman, Walter, and Will Arnett all up in there, because there so much better than everybody else it isn't even funny, except it is funny, because they are wildly hilarious. As a matter of fact, I'll be darned if Jeffrey Tambor, Michael Cera, and Portia de Rossi aren't all nearly as deserving.

Thusly, my Best Supporting Actor nominees would go as such: Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, John C. McGinley, and David Cross. It'd be like when the '78 Steelers had 8 out of 11 Pro Bowlers on defense or something like that.

I actually hated CSI until a couple of months ago. Started watching it, and he's part of the reason why I'll watch it if it's on. Mostly because of how he plays the role: sure, it's got the taint of Jerry Bruckheimer, but he's surprisingly subtle (as far as anyone could be in that sea of overpriced CGI/effects).

I'm gonna guess he watched it the same way I did: PBS. I'm 29, and I had the same crush on her.
