Last night at the Impact tapings, Abyss gave his notice and quit TNA. His TNA contract had expired and for some reason it slipped up on people without a renewal. Word is that he is heading to the WWE.
Johnny Swinger also asked for his release. We don't know if he got it or not, as Jeff Jarrett had turned down everyone under contract that had asked for their release up to this point.

Interesting, he could be a nice foil to Taker or Kane, I just hope they have a good gimmick for him when he comes in, I don't thik Mankind 2005 is something the fans will except. I would also point that how stupid is it for TNA not to resign this guy and now how silly do they look for letting him hand ballons to the WWE guys when he probably used that to get in the door. Yep, they'll be gone after Wrestlemania.

Swinger has connections in WWE with Edge & Christian. He could be a nice fit. Maybe Pat "Simon Diamond" Kenney could follow.
As for Abyss, I think he's a pretty good worker. Can't blame him for wanting to move on, as he hasn't done much in TNA as of late except for put Monty Brown over.
Abyss! I havent seen too much of the guy, but what I have seen so far has impressed me. I say, put him on Smackdown because that show needs everything it can get... I have a feeling he'll be inevitably associated with Kane if he's put on RAW.
A Fan, you're right though- the people wont accept a cheap Kane-Makind Fusion, the WWE needs to handle Abyss correctly or he'll just be another stain on the underwear of Wrestling.
Who knows... maybe he can have an Un-American Arabian gimmick!
Wow, that sucks. Abyss was one of the only big guys in TNA who could, you know, wrestle a little. Which, in turn, made him one of the few really credible main event prospects.
I'm actually a little surprised by the possibility on a WWE offer, since Abyss isn't that big by their standards, is he? Plus, as anyone who saw Turning Point knows, he's pretty flabby -- there's a reason he usually keep his shirt on.
I dunno, Abyss is something special in TNA land, but it doesn't seem like he'd really stand out much in WWE.
As far as Swinger -- is he dating Dawn Marie? Or is that Diamond? Anyway, I don't blame Swinger for moving on -- he's been a joke/jobber along with Gilberti for months.

Simon Diamond was the one that dated Dawn Marie. I don't think they're together anymore.

Yeah, that is something else about Abyss- In TNA he's one of the only reasons why I feel bad when I miss the show in its in incredibly crappy timeslot(s?) but in WWE, will he impress as much? Probably not.
Ya gotta wonder what kind of gimmick he'll be given in WWE. You know he's not gonna come in as Abyss.
And how big is this guy, anyway, compared to current WWE guys. Size of Test? Size of Orton? What seems like a huge guy against the smaller guys of TNA would be just an "average" guys against the hosses in WWE. Sort of like when Mike Awesome jumped from ECW to WCW.
According to Obsessed with Wrestling: Kane's 7', Snitsky's 6'4", Orton's 6'5", Batista's 6'5", Tomko's 6'6", Big Show's 7'1", Undertaker's 6'10" and Abyss is...6'10". He'll fit in fine.

A bit more on the Abyss situation and it gets a very heel turn vibe.
Its reported, due to a slip-up by TNA management, Abyss' contract is either about to expire or already has. He asked TNA management for a raise last night and was sent home. At this point, he is telling people that he has a WWE offer on the table and that does seem to be the case.
There is a lot of heat on Bob Ryder right now as he is being blamed for not knowing Abyss' contract was about to expire. Ryder and Abyss are said to be very close as they actually roomed together in Nashville and may still be living together.
This is a potential shot to TNA as Abyss is set to be featured in their first action figure set as well as their new liquid blue t-shirts.

Living together?
Either way, I have seen Abyss work on whatever the Mexican wrestling is, AAA I think, and he seems to be able to go a bit. Hopefully he actually owns his gimmick/name, because the WWE isnt exactly good at putting together gimmicks for a lot of established, or near established guys.
Abyss is awesome!! I think it's fine that he's flabby. Pro-wrestling needs more flabby guys!! That's what made it so awesome in the eightees and ninetees! Nowadays, it's all these rock-hard south beach bois in speedos.. they look strong, but not so tough.. more like they want to do up my hair, rather than actually fight me.
If Abyss can get higher on the card than Rhyno has I'll be impressed. Raw really needs more heels, but Smackdown needs more talent so I guess Smackdown would make a better home for him.
I liked Swinger a lot better when he wasn't so bulky, but if he came in with Simon Diamond playing the Simon Diamond character I'd be happy as it's been one I've always gotten a kick out of (Bring back the Buccaneer!). The Tag Teams need some fresh teams, but they might need some more backing by the WWE before that division means much more than filler.
I can see the WWE giving these guys a mini push in hopes of getting some of the borderline TNA guys to jump, like they always used to do with ECW. Then again there's not a lot of value in TNA other than the retreaded heavyweights and the X-division which the WWE really doesn't seem to bother with anyway.
Bottom line, I don't really see anyone on the TNA roster that could really make an impact on the WWE other than maybe Abyss in the IC/US picture, AMW in the tag division and maybe AJ Styles if he was given a Rey Jr. style push. I like a good deal of the TNA guys, but really they are so different than what the WWE is doing they might as well stick to the Indy/TNA/ROH gigs.
