XM radio released a presser today announcing some new talk radio people coming to the channel, including G. Gordon Liddy, Dr. Laura, former manager Kevin Kennedy and, most importantly, Mr. Tony.

No start date was announced.

He starts in February, or so says this news release (xmradio.com):

XM will be broadcasting the new daily radio program hosted by Tony Kornheiser, the Washington Post columnist and co-host of the highly rated ESPN program Pardon the Interruption. Kornheiser's new show will begin airing in February 2005. XM is the only national broadcaster to offer Kornheiser's radio program.

"Between my work in print, radio and television, radio is by far the most fun - the one where you can be yourself most often. I'm so happy to be back on the radio again and I'm thrilled to be joining XM Satellite Radio," said Tony Kornheiser.

It doesn't say what channel he'll be on. A new sports talker perhaps? I know they'll be adding an MLB channel this spring. The same news release announces Kevin Kennedy's show on that channel. Another release announces the additions of Dr. Laura and G-Gord Liddy.

XM has the channels to put them on other channels, but it would be a great move to create a new sports-talker independent of the three major national networks. Tony Bruno would be a great addition to that channel as well, but I doubt that will happen.

The recently released Mark Patrick would be a good pick-up for XM as well.

I've heard, through the grapevine, it'll be channel 152, which right now I think is one of the comedy channels I think.

Mark Patrick is going to be XM's new 24/7 MLB channel, which will launch of February 1st and I believe be in the 170s. XM 152 I believe is "Extreme XM," which is in the comedy neighborhood, but is talk shows compared to the comedy bits which air on the other two comedy channels. I'm sure this is simply wishful thinking on my part, but since Extreme XM is an "xL" channel, which can be blocked out using the parental controls, could we see a return of the internet show? Well...at least we can hope.

The "extreme" channel may be where they put Liddy and Dr. Laura.

Internet show - probably not. It's not a new show for XM. It's the 980 show on XM.
