For anyone who follows ROH, Samoa Joe finally lost the ROH title after 642 days as champion. Austin Aries beat Joe in the main event in what has been called a great match. Earlier in the night Joe attacked Mick Foley after Foley had made up w/ Ricky Steamboat and tried to do the same w/ Joe.
"Whats your name? Dick Army. Hahaha, whats your wives name, Vagina Coastguard?"
Yay! This means 2005 will finally see the CM Punk ROH Title reign. I can't help but think that at the Chicago show after the Feb. one that we'll see Punk vs. Aries after Punk's defeat of Aries earlier this year. So I'm saying May 2005 for Punk taking the ROH belt.
I'm thinking the same thing, spf, except ROH will be in Chicago Ridge on 02.26, for the third of three shows celebrating their 3 Year Anniversary. So Punk could get the belt as soon as then (if, of course, they book the match).
Trent Acid v Jimmy Jacobs- Jacobs took this one was very over with the Huss gimmick. After the match Acid "quit ROH"
Angel Dust & Becky vs. Deranged & Lacey- Lacey won the match as she pined Becky. Dunn and Marcos made the save after the match from a Special K beat down.
Rockin Rebel v Some Jobber- Rebel won the match after a few minutes of back and forth action.
Homicide with Julius Smokes vs. Josh Daniels- Homicide won a nice match but Smokes is a sight that must be seen.
John Walters vs. Jimmy Rave- Really nice mat work here. Lots of credit for the ref here as he really enforced the rules in this bout and helped set the tone for the style. Walters won with an arm bar from the outside on Rave while he was on the turnbuckle. Walters was getting counted out and it got to 19 but then Rave tapped. After the match Walters turned by taking Nana's money and he joined the Embassy.
Loc & Devito vs. Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer- Really nice hardcore style match. Chairs, tables ladders and kendo sticks were all involved before the finish. Foley came out got on the mic and pulled out a stocking filled with tacks. Foley was on the mic for the rest of the match basically asking for some more action from the guys and going crazy everytime they did a move, really funny stuff. Finish came in the tacks as Whitmer and Maff won. After the match Foley put both teams over and made them shake and hug. Foley then got on the mic and started talking about "Ring of Hardcore" and out came Steamboat. Foley told Steamboat that he himself had been in plenty of hardcore style matches in the past and they but aside the beef agreeing that there is a place for all kinds of wrestling in ROH. Foley ripped the WWE saying "how could Steamboat defend pure wrestling when hes going to the home of Snitsky, Heidnerik , Luther Reigns and Chris Benoit" Foley then said that Steamboat is so good that they all will one day be good. Then Foley talked about the Flair incident and he apologized to the shock of everyone. He said he was an ass and he disrespected a legend. He then called out Samoa Joe and demanded an apology from Joe. Joe came out and shook Foley's hand then he asked to hug Foley and he hit him in the face. Steamboat then got in the way of the two and Joe said "come at me when you want to wrestle old man."
Jay Lethal vs. Weapon Of MASK Destruction #2- Decent match. Lethal won and he looks really good and is pretty over. The Embassy just left the 2nd mask in the ring after the match and Lethal challenged Nana.
Steve Corino & CM Punk with Tracey Brooks vs. Alex Shelley & Roderick Strong- Really funny match. Corino came out with "Team Corino" and did the whole introduction bit. This was very funny as his stooge was reading off all the great wrestlers coming from Philadelphia. Lots of funny bits in this match too many to go over. Punk got the win via submission over Shelly. After the match Austin Aries came out and demanded that Shelly step down as head of Gen-Next. Strong and Aries then jumped him.
Low Ki v American Dragon- Very good work in the ring until the finish. Dragon got Ki in the air plane spin and they fell outside. Then the brawled all over the building as Dragon got Ki in the air plane spin outside the ring and they were both DQed. It was ruled a no contest which pissed off Low Ki. Then Homicide and Smokes came out and put Smokes belt around the refs neck as Ki choked him out. After the match Cide stole Dragons coat and Smokes said something about Reggie White.
Samoa Joe v Austin Aries- Just an amazing match. I might be overrating it a bit too much since I was there but it was at least ****1/2. Going into the match I really gave Aries no shot of winning the title but as it was going you couldn't help but wonder. The crowd heat was just off the charts here as people were going all out for both guys. Joe is a sight to be seen as he is just a tank of ass kicking. Aries went for the brainbuster the whole match but wasn't able to get Joe up. Joe kicked out of everything Aries gave to him including the first 450 splash. All of this built up to the finish where Aries hit the brainbuster then the 450 splash to win the title ending Joe's 22 month title run.
This show had a something for everyone feel and I'm hooked on ROH now.
Not sure what exactly was said, but during his promo, Foley said something that has led some to speculate that Joe going to WWE or (more likely) NJPW. If he goes on the next NJ tour, he'll probably have time to work select dates for ROH, much like Danielson does now. If he goes to WWE, well, I hope he likes grass skirts.

This match was for the Pure Wrestling Title, which has its own set of rules, such as a limited number of rope-breaks, count-outs, etc. That's why the ref seemed to enforce the rules stricter.
Also, on their newswire, ROH has some piece about Low-ki being suspended for some reason or another. Is he going on another NOAH tour?

Well, he was part of a Samoan Dance Troupe for most of his life. So it wouldn't be too new.

Joe losing to Aries was a real shocker when I first saw the news. I didn't think they were going to push Aries up that quickly, but he's a tremendous wrestler and I think he'll be a fine champion. I had 2005 pegged as Aries' year, but I guess he got a few days head start on my prediction.
This title change feels huge for a company that has no TV or PPV or anything, and that's the sort of thing that can happen when you actually put value into your world title.
The best news out of all this: if they are ever so lucky, a year or two from now they might get the break they've wanted and wallow away on Velocity like other ROH greats have done for so long (see London, Paul; Kendrick, Brian).

Two people in almost three years. What a tradition.
Owens. Rollins. Flair. I say it goes 30 0-0 or 1-1. Banks is the one that wants to keep it going and it costs her. Cass. New Day. They will hold them til raw after the rumble where The Revival will win then. Swann. Strowman.
