What has Hogan done to deserve a title shot? Hello? He MADE wrestling popular, sure he hasn't done anything worthwhile lately but since he made wrestling popular and made the WWF popular I don't see why he shouldn't get his shot at the Undisupted Title, seeing that there wasn't one when he was on top. Besides, he doesn't have to WIN the title. It doesn't really matter to me, i don't care for most of the main eventers, therefore the Undisiputed Title doesn't mean much to me.

Will HHH be the heel at Backlash? Why does either have to be heel? The Rock didn't turn heel at Wrestlemania why can't they have another face vs. face match?

One more thing about Hogan, he jobbed to The Rock, he'll probably job to HHH, eventually he'll probably job to Austin. SO what's the problem? I thought everyone would be happy to see him job.

Edge and Angle was great, I think Edge is much better when he's just chillin backstage than he is when he's trying to cut someone down in the ring.

Great to see Kidman again..

At first I was dreading seeing Albert, Scotty 2 Hotty, Chuck and Billy all in the same ring. But then Albert broke up the team so it turned out alright. Not that I really want to see Albert or Scotty 2 Hotty as singles wrestlers, but atleast now we are safe from the winning the tag titles. So now, no Dudleys, no APA, no Scotty/Albert, Haryds are on the other show. I guess they have to make new tag teams now.

I think Jericho did mess up on his lines about what ppvs he beat The Rock at, I think he just made them up because most casual fans probably would not notice. Actually i bet a lot of the smarts didn't realize either. I didn't know for sure if they were right or not but I wondered to myself if he brought up the right ones.

Some other things nobody mentioned...

I know that everyone hates Michael Cole and so do I but Taz was just as bad if not worse. I mean correct me if i'm wrong but if Michael Cole is the face, which he is, then shouldn't Taz be a heel commentator? So how come he was putting over both Hogan and HHH?

D-Von showed last night that he can revert to his ECW days and put on a good promo, now if he can just put on decent (not necessarily spectacular) peformances in the ring he should be an alright singles wrestler.

Now that they split up the two companies they should get to push the much deserved mid carders, so where was Lance?? He better be there next week!

I thought Christian and DDP was a very solid match which nobody has mentioned. That match along with Edge/Angle, Tajiri/Kidman, Rock/Jericho made for a good show wrestling wise in my opinion.

Look, I don't know about all this "politics" stuff or whatever you guys obsess over. After watching Smackdown last night (Delayed by the Phillies getting their ass kicked by the Braves, thanks UPN 57), two things came to mind, five actually:

1)I love to laugh, and for that reason, Angle does NOT suck
2)Y2J has a new fan
3) If Vince keeps the Red and Yellow too long, it'll bite us all in the ass.
4) I can announce better than Micheal Cole, and I have NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE!
5) I don't hate Hogan anymore, but NOT A TITLE SHOT!!!

I'm not gonna start assuming what goes on in the back, because I don't know what goes on. I'm just reacting to what I see on TV. I'm one of the few who can get both RAW and Smackdown, and I was definitely thinking about RAW last night. RAW was more MY kind of show. Some Sports entertainment isn't so bad, but lots of BAD sports entertainment is a turn off. Easy example--Mr. MacDaddy with Stacy Keibler playing the role of Trish. EWWWWW!!~!
Is it me or the only way you can become a legit heel in the WWF these days is to be jealous (Tajiri) or petty (Albert). The last good heel turn for me was Jericho. Oh, after last night, I truly am feeling for him. I did something during his promo I haven't done since HHH in the McMahon-Helmsley days (it had its moments, stalking Hebner was kewl)... agree with everything he said. Y2J was just on the money all night, and I'm glad he had his ensemble on. I could go on, but no doubt, RAW is definitely my show.

Upon further reflection, Rock's over-the-top endorsement of Hogan could very well be part of the angle. Rock could be setting Hogan up, as others have suggested, to ``give him enough rope to hang himself.'' Or maybe to take the title from an unsuspecting HHH (via Rock interference) before being turned on by the Rock, leading to a true ``passing of the torch'' feud (i.e. one that's not endlessly referred to as such).

Hogan isn't going to go out on top, I don't think. Foley has already proven that a high-profile star doesn't have to, provided he's got something to go to. Doing a second clean job to a truly heel Rock, maybe at SummerSlam, or, if possible, next year's Wrestlemania, could potentially eclipse everything else in Hogan's legacy. Hogan's most compelling work was always the result of a falling out with a friend (i.e. Andre, Savage, and, to some extent, the Warrior) rather than the ``ending the monster heel's reign of terror'' stuff. From there, he rides off into the sunset with a Flair program or somesuch. Hogan ``retiring'' and conspiring with VKM to take RAW from Flair could lead to some matches that even 15 years too late, I'd still like to see.

The fact that I'm actually posting about wrestling suggests I'm interested again. So it's probably time to stop the rampant speculation and see if I don't enjoy where the product takes me.

Few thoughts:

Wrestlemania why can't they have another face vs. face match?

HHH would have to be a heel because he would be booed out of the building if things keep up the way they are.

Rock as Hogan's bitch is out of character (moreso than Rock/Foley, since Rock was at least rude to
Foley).

In the long run this won't hurt Rock at all because he is probably not going anywhere for a long time. Eventually the Rock is going to have to change around his character anyways so what he does now probably can't hurt that much.

Lastly, the red and yellow was no big deal because it was already busted out and WCW. If they had never done it than sure it would of been a big deal but now it's nothing. I saw right now in most peoples eyes Hogan is on top, so there is nothing wrong with giving him one more tour on the top. Just as along as it doesn't last WCW Nitro long.

I thought Flair booking a paddle on a pole match in which Terri was pretty much bare bottomed was much worse Sports Entertainment than this. At least Vince didn't take Stacy to the shower stall to have her prove she wanted in the WWF like he did with Torrie Wilson.

Regarding Rock, I think right now he's willing to go along with anything they suggest, as I'm sure he has a giant calendar at home counting down the days until ScorpKing opens. He knows if that does well, he doesn't have to worry about the political BS in the WWF, haggling with HHH over pushes or any of that ever again, as he can go swim with a whole new group of sharks in Hollywood. Sure they're even worse than dealing with Steph, Vince, HHH, etc., but at least there you get pampered 24/7.

SPF,

So, you think Rock will actually leave the WWF and become an actor full-time? I hope you're wrong. I'm not a huge fan of The Rock, but I think it's better for the business to have him rather than not have him.

About Terri-- I don't really want her on my TV, period. I'm more a Stacey Kiebler and Molly Holly kind of guy. As you can probably guess, then, I most definitely don't want to see Terri on my TV who is, for all intents and purposes, bare-bottomed.

I'm trying to reserve judgment on Hogan getting a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. But I think it may be almost a foregone conclusion that Hogan's going to win.

Then again, having said that it seems they're maneuvering things for Hogan to win, it does seem very, very early for Triple H to job the title. Even if his opponent is Hogan.

I agree that The Rock turning heel would be one hell of an interesting thing to do. I'm not sure it's going to happen anytime soon (because The Rock really hasn't been a true heel in almost three years), but it'd be gutsy. And judging by the reactions The Rock got in Canada, I think that this could help the WWF. Then again, Canadians are strange.

So? He still is way past his prime (although there is not much notable difference from now and when he was at his peak, because he wasn't any good then either). He has already gotten his payback for making wrestling popular back in the 80s in the form of 5 WWF Title reigns and, I believe, 4 WCW Title reigns. Wrestling's current (or just expired) popularity has nothing to do with Hogan.

Excellent points. I didn't even think of a Rock heel turn as a possibility, but the more I think that what they're doing now with Rock is creating a 2002 version of Paul Orndorff, Andre the Giant, Randy Savage, Brutus Beefcake, Tugboat, etc.--the Hogan super-buddy thatinvariably leads to Hogan being double-crossed.

HHH-Taker is not the feud. HHH-Hogan is not the feud. The feud is Flair-Vince. HHH, Hogan, and Taker are their pawns. The point is Flair will be pushing Taker as the #1 contender and Vince will be countering with Hogan. Seeing as we know Hogan gets it, Vince will win this round.

Everyone on this board agrees that Cole blows chunks as a play-by-play guy. The funny thing is, Kevin Kelly seems to agree also. A few months back on Byte This!, KK totally ripped Cole. He said that Cole doesn't know the name of a single wrestling move and refers to everything as a "what a maneuver!" Sure it was done in a just-to-rib manner, but the fact is that it is true, and everyone knows it. That is what made it so funny. If people who are Cole's colleagues know he stinks, why does the WWF keep him on the air?

Kevin Kelly + Michael Cole or Mark Madden + Tony Schiavone? Compare and contrast. What is the difference?

Do NOT try to answer this question! There isn't one!

Edit: ok besides 500 more pounds on Mark and Tony they are the same.

I was in no way suggesting a team of Kelly & Cole. Two play-by-play announcers will always suck, no matter who they are. However, moving Kelly into the lead announcers role and putting Cole backstage would be a winner to me. I think Cole does fine interviews, considering it is his job to totally look stupid in most of them.

They probably keep Cole around so J.R. has someone to be better than.

What i don't get is smackdown has the best wrestlers but handicaps them with short matches, screwy finishs and the usual sports entertainment crap. Raw meanwhile has longish matches clean finishes and few backstage skits but has the big slugs , women and hardcore division that would be better suited to the "entertainment" show.

Well, it is only a matter of time until Brian Christopher makes his way back to the WWF. But if they do it now, it'll probably only be to take him away from the WWA (not that they haven't done plenty of that lately). And yes, it does make sense for Scotty's character, because I don't think he has any chance of making it as a singles partner. But on the other hand, I just don't see it happening. Maybe it's because every time someone new has come in, we've heard about it before there was any official word. It was that way with Eddie and Rey. Heck, it was even like that with Jazz!

As a sidenote, speaking of Jazz, boy she was definately hurt by the split. As the WWF Women's Champion, she has the right to appear on both shows, and the only show she appears on is Jakked? Now, I don't like her very much, but I've got to think that the WWF is treating the Women's champion badly, no matter who she is.

So many things to hit on:

I can't stand Cole. I mean he's not even average anymore he is now taking away from the broadcast. I really think Smackdown has A-type talent on it, but the announcing is so sub par, it feels like a B-type show. And he's been doing this for a while hosting Smackdown but he's no where close to Ross (or Styles, but I just drink the kool-aid). I truly believe if Styles/Cyrus are doing the play by play on this show, the improvment would be amazing.

As for Jazz, I have no clue how she came out of WrestleMania with that title, I mean a Trish v. Molly title match would be much more interesting then anything that concerns Jazz right now. Funny Jazz as champ could be unpopular and unover on both shows.

Well, Jazz may not be over or popular (she's a heel, so that's moot, isn't it?), but it's clear she's a wrestler-not a WWF Diva™. That's probably why she has the strap now, to give some legitimacy to the Women's Division as an actual wrestling division. Given that there seems to be actual female heel roles being defined (OK, they were just run-ins and beatdowns, still I think it's a step up from the "I look better than you" deal), the WWF is looking to make it an actual, respectable wrestling divison. Of course, this all depends on how they go from here.

As bad as I thought the Smackdown! announcing was, Jakked was 10 times worse. They call on that show has never been good, but tonight it was just plain pitiful.

I think I would rather listen to the Spanish Announce Team then any combo I have heard this week.
