I don't know whats missing in your life to find joy in someone else suffering an injury but I think thats pretty low and fucking sad. Owens seems like a nice guy but I don't know him personally and neither do you.
Please, please note the part where I said that I don't wish an injury on anyone. I'm not glad that he got injured, I'm glad that he and the Eagles won't be in the Super Bowl. I don't think that rooting against a rival team is wrong or shows there's something missing in my life. I don't understand...
"thats ok, big Steve, Ray Lewis won't be dancing when they come to Pittsburg to have their season end. I hope to God, Ward knocks his overrated ass off the field. I cannnot wait for the Steelers to send Baltimore's overhyped ass for the rest of the year."
Overrated? You can say Lewis is a thug or whatever, but he really isn't overrated. That has nothing to do with me being a fan of his. The man is awesome on the field. And don't take it for granted that we're gonna lose. We beat the Steelers once and I think Roethlisberger is due for his first loss.
If the Eagles' offense sputters in the playoffs and they get bounced out again, the Eagles' fight song will be altered to "Fly, Eagles, Fly / Off Of The Walt Whitman Bridge," because that's what their fans will be doing. (At least until the pile gets high enough to render the fall non-fatal, at which point they'll switch to the Commodore Barry Bridge.)
The Super Bowl is still very possible, if only because of how weak the NFC is this year. (THREE 6-8 teams are competing for the last wild card spot.) There are a couple of matchups that are mildly scarier than their records would indicate, but nothing extremely dire. But all it takes is one bad game, and there isn't a defensive coordinator in the league who loses sleep trying to figure out how to stop Todd Pinkston and Freddie Mitchell.

More player failure than plan failure, IMHO. I'm an Eagles fan and can't explain why 4th-and-26 worked, and the Pack _still_ had a date lined up with Carolina until Favre threw an utter brain-fart of an INT in OT.
If Freddie Mitchell wants to continue yapping about how he's secretly an A-list receiver, he'd better step up and deliver this January.

And he's currently coordinating one heckuva defense in Atlanta. It wasn't his fault, as vsp says. Too many players didn't carry out their assignments on the play. But, it was easier to dump Donatell than Sharper, Barnett, Hawthorne ...
Originally posted by EddieBurkettThe reason they lost two years ago was because McNabb was still recovering from his injury. Last year, they didn't have Westbrook, who has only this year been starting to receive the recognition as the weapon that he really is.
They lost three years ago to the Rams because they were outmatched. They lost two years ago against the Bucs because they were outmatched. Last year, I'd say they were much better than the Panthers, but honestly I bet the previous two years' losses probably had a negative effect on the team.
Everyone's correct, this is the same team that lost the last three NFC Title games. That's precisely why you should start worrying.
You really think that last year's Eagles were better than the Panthers? If McNabb had managed to get the Eagles to Houston I think we would've seen a blowout, as the Pats had a much more dangerous defense than the Panthers last year.

I certainly don't think the Eagles would have beaten the Patriots last year, I'll concede that. All I'm saying is that when the Eagles have a healthy McNabb and a healthy Westbrook, they are a much better team than when they just have a healthy McNabb. I like to think they would have beaten last year's Panthers, but I can't say I know enough about that Panthers team to make anything more than a fanboyish comparison.

I'll admit that the psychological aspect to TO's loss could probably be worse than the loss of TO's contributions to the team. If the team spends the week whining "why does this always happen to us?" then I would expect that they'll make it into the NFC title game and lose again. If you can't tell, I'm convinced that the Eagles still have enough offensive weapons to be dangerous. But if they start doubting themselves, its going to effect their execution, and its all over before it starts. As much as I want to see them make it to the Superbowl, I'm all too aware of how fragile post-season aspirations can be.
Eh, I think the Eagles are still pretty good to go. The Packers aren't playing anything like they were at the end of last season, and the NFC West is a joke. That leaves the Vikings, Falcons, and a probable second NFC South team as the threats. Andy Reid and McNabb already saw the Vikes once, and you've gotta believe they've been eyeing the Falcons all season. So that leaves the Saints and the Panthers as the real unknowns here, the Saints more so than Carolina.
If you get the Panthers the question is all about Westbrook. If he can draw enough attention to allow McNabb to move out of the pocket then the Eagles can win. If the Panthers D shuts him down and you have to depend on Pinkston and Mitchell to get open before McNabb gets sacked AND catch passes you've got reasons to worry.
I wouldn't worry too much about the New Orleans defence. They're the most consistant part of that team in that they're consistantly poor. But if two or more of the stars show up to play on the offensive side of the ball, they can do enough to keep the game close. I'm still not convinced that the Saints are really a winning team though, so I wouldn't be terribly worried if I was an Eagles fan.
