There's no way... the Owen stuff will carry on for awhile in the pages of The Flash at least, plus Firestorm has some fallout and there's this rumored "Manhunter" trial tie-in.

The bigger news? Who IS that on the cover of DC Countdown??

Batman. duh.

Oh, you mean who's he holding? I've heard everything from Nightwing to Catwoman to Blue Beetle.

For the cover from DC Countdown (brought to us by our friends at CBR, which by the way seems like a nice site).

http://comicsnexus.insidepulse.com/article.php?contentid=30092

For more details about Countdown and a bunch of other stuff (brought to us by our friends at ComicNexus).

First off, I dunno who that is Batman's holding, but I know who WONDERWOMAN is holding back, and that's one pissed off Superman.

Second off, Hal Jordan. Nuff said.

Also, if someone could rhyme off the results of #7, please do because I won't be able to reach it sadly (due to work and stuff).

EDIT: I can't do linkage, BAH!!!!!! =(
EDIT #2: Now I CAN do linkage, thanks for the info (and fixing the initial problem) Cubs!

Now that I've read it...

I'm not sure how I feel yet.

The dominoes are certainly there for them to fall next year.

I just read it as well.

No spoilers, but I honestly felt like we went out more with a whimper than a bang. Still a well-written story for the *most* part, but there are a ton of unanswered questions and there was no real climax to this story, so the wrap-up left me wanting.

I agree Matt Tracker.

At the beginning of the series Meltzer and the editors said that Identity Crisis will set the tone for the DCU for at least the next 18 months or so.

So I do see a lot of plots that can be carried through that time. I think its good how it wrapped things up for the main plot, but from a lot of the negative comments (not here) it seems a lot of people expected the big cosmic shakeup in this series.

This was the first comic series I've bought in about 15 years, and while compelling, it seemed like a bit of a fizzle of an ending.

The thing that still irks me is the casual treatment of Firestorm's death earlier in the series.

I think the problem with most people is that they don't want to see thier super heroes doing non super hero stuff. They want stories where thry're out saving the world in every story.

Basicly, this was a mystery novel that centered around super heroes, who had to act like normal people and not be able to solve the problem with powers. If this was just a regular book with characters you didn't already know, no one would feel cheated or let down, but since it's Batman and Superman and these iconic characters that can do things no one else can... you're expecting some big reveal like Darkseid controlling everything or Lex Luthor making yet another power play or something.

Looking back at the series as a whole, it did what it set out to do. It got tons of people talking about DC and set up storylines for months, possibly even years to come. The old JLA mind whiped people to conform to the way they wanted them to. Hell, they even screwed with Batman's mind. (does he even know they did it to him?) Ollie Queen's seemingly alright with it and see's no problem. How's Wally gonna deal with this knowledge. If one heroes wife can go to such lengths to get what she wants, a somewhat minor characters wife at that, what could some of the others be hiding, like Lois or what if Alfred went nuts. Poor Wally's got his hands full after all this with the Top back to normal and claiming he's the one who's been making the Rogues 'good'. What are these guys gonna be like knowing they've been mind fucked all these years.

There's so much fallout from this series, I think it went above and beyond what it set out to do.

I tend to disagree with Cerebus. I loved IDC 1-6, but the ending was quite the letdown. Perhaps it's a victim of heightened expectations....I read at least a dozen great potential endings from message boards that ended up being much more satisfying than Meltzer's conclusion.

But my question is where's the follow-up? That's the problem with having a miniseries be so earthshaking....this was Meltzer's baby, but are the solo titles going to deal with this? Will future JLA issues with Batman feeling betrayed, since the only way that he could possibly remain in character is to utterly renounce all contact with the satellite era heroes...and it's also kind of a copout to have all of the mind-wipers be the second-tier JLA, rather than any of the 'Big Seven.' Future issues of the Flash will cover some of Barry Allen's involvement, but someone like Atom doesn't have even have a solo title.

Methinks that IDC will fade into the past while DC just revs up the hype machine for Countdown in the summer...it's no coincidence that the leaked cover comes right as ID#7 is coming out. Trying to distract attention, anyone?

What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Okay... Bendis & Finch's AVENGERS DISASSEMBLED [Avengers #500-503 & Finale] vs. Meltzer & Morales' IDENTITY CRISIS. Which was better??

I say Identity Crisis. It sets things up much more completely than Disassembled, without Bendis shouting "House of M! All will be revealed!"

Rogue War & Countdown (Countdown will then lead into Crisis '05, which will likely revolve in some parts around Luthor.)

I agree Cerebus, it set in motion a done of stuff that will be affected forever. The problem I have with these big epic mini-series is that there is zero ramification, I give you Infinity Gauntlet, Catcyslm, Worlds at War and many others. After the mini-series, everyone is back at square one again. I like the fact that this like Crisis on Infinite Earths and Zero Hero has major ramficiations for many key characters. I think Countdown will deal with what is already going on in Superman which would explain a lot, but might lead to its untimely conclusion before it starts if Sups figures out to bring everyone back in the next few months.

The problem, I see in the future is the big bad behind it all will be Luthor, it will be such a huge coup out that I don't think I'd read DC anymore. Its a shame, because I'm actually interested in DC's characters now that I have read this. I don't even know most of these characters existed, so for me this has been a great introduction into the DCU. They did a great job of getting new readers into the DCU and probably did some good business as well. Bringing in any of the big bads as some swerve ending next year would be stupid.

I think no question IC has been far better than Avengers Disambled, there wasn't too many continuity errors and actually gave you a good feel for the DCU. Avengers just pissed everyone off for the sake of throwing Spidey and Wolvie in to boost sales and counter the JLA ubercast. I will say I think it might be time to pull Bendis out of most of Marvel's projects since the quality of work being done is not as good as his past. Plus, if he ups and dies one day, the company would probably go bankrupt. Unless, your name is Stan Lee, I wouldn't give one man this much story control.

My hope for the future storylines is for the JLA break up, because I can't see Wally holding that secret in forever. A JLA without Superman, Batman, Flash and possibly Wonder Woman would be good now, because they did a great establishing Green Arrow's team leader and maybe throw in Hal to help be number two. JLA with Superman has always seemed way over powered, so it would do some good to get him and Bats out of there and back into their own books. Its also my secret desire to see the JSA and Teen Titans disappear, but one group at a time. I do think the groundwork is there for a good DC run and I hope they can pull it off.

See, the biggest problem I had with the story are the two huge gaps:

#1 - The killer, who I won't name, really had no way of knowing who Jack Drake was, and what his connection to the whole thing was going to be. Also, in the contact with the Calculator, and Calculator's knowledge that these crimes were happening to the other heroes in the DCU, wouldn't he automatically have knowledge of Robin's father as well?

#2 - The biggest issue is, now the killer has been put into Arkham. The killer who knows all of these secret identities. In Arkham. No mindwipe shown, so we have to think that the biggest fear of this series, that the heroes would have their secret identities exposed, is suddenly risked AFTER they catch Sue Dibney's killer.

*sigh*

On the bright side, IDC re-ignited an interest in comics for me, so I picked up the first Astonishing X-Men tpb, having never read an X-book in my entire life, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. So at least I'm interested in seeking out good stories again.

I think the mindwipe happened off camera and they eluded to the vast amount of medication the killer was on probably helps too. I don't think anyone in the DCU hero category would throw the killer into arkham with that kinda knowledge.

Calculator's knowledge probably doesn't goe to far. The Killer was just looking for someone to take the rap. For all Calculator knows the killer came in to do a hit on co-worker or former lover and not Robin's father. I don't think the killer would be that stupid to reveal who the target really was. The problem with how the killer knew who Robin's dad was, probably came in some offhanded remark. It does appear the killer had regular meetings with a certain hero, so I'm sure things were mentioned.

Astonishing X-men is awesome. I love every issue and I can't wait, because the next storyline Joss tackles the elusive X-traitor storyline that keeps people guessing.

The biggest issue I have with the whole series is that, at the end of the day, it's a big set-up for Criris II. I would have preferred a more stand-along story.

Between Identity Crisis, War Games, and the Rebirth story, it looks as if DC is trying to isolate Batman. After all, how can the most wanted man in Gotham turn around and go to the satellite to pal around with the world's greatest heroes? Ever notice how nobody ever goes with him to save Gotham either?

The best Batman stories are just that. There usually aren't many tie ins with the rest of the DCU, and it really looks as if DC knows that.

Hold nothing sacred and you'll never be dissapointed. Especially not this statement.
