Thank you nicemen.

Sea: "I realize we're talking in hyper-sensitive specifics about making a true break-out boom-creating superDUPERstar compared to just an over, top-card main-eventing superstar, but the "they blew it", "mangled his career", "just how badly the fed booked him" talk is a little funny. Quite successful was this fella Lesnar, after all."

You're right. I got caught up in reversing the polarity of the language of "huge disappointment who never panned out" and took it too much to the negative Xtreme.

Also I switch from present to past tense a lot, which is weird. I'm a time refugee.

Brilliant essay Justin. I can't say I agree completely, but generally I'd have to say you're right.

Doesn't matter now. Just another stupid business decision due to Vince's ego. I am sure Hunter will LOVE bashing Brock every chance he gets. Seriously, if you have stock in this "company" sell now.

That doesn't mean anything. They obviously don't want to seem desperate to bring him in, so they'll make him sweat for a bit, and maybe even Brock considers agreeing to a pay cut. I highly doubt they've definitively decided to never, ever bring him back.

Agreed. Talks between Lesnar and McMahon are going to be lukewarm for a while. We can't expect them to gush and be all "OMFG BROCK COME BACK K NO ONE THROWS A ONE LEGGED MAN DOWN THE STAIRS LIKE YOU!!!11~<33333"

I say give it a bit of time, probably a month or more. If Brock has sowed his oats in regards to football, McMahon will want him back into the fold. However, I have a feeling Brock is going to have to sit tight and wait for McMahon's call. After all, he did leave the WWE for what he thought would be greener pastures. Vince is going to have think rather hard about a) the potential draw Brock was/could be and weigh it against b) the chances of Brock leaving again.

It's not like it hasn't happened before. Remember when Vince brought back the Warrior? And Hogan? Vince is just being cautious.

Three questions:

1: Can the bridges be mended? YES
2: Can money be made from Brock? YES
3: Can Brock still wrestle? YES

I say he appears unbilled at either the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 21. Business is slow, and Brock can pop a buyrate.

1. I don't think Brock's bridges have been totally burned. There have been so many guys who have left who you never imagined would be back, and yet they have been.
2. TNA should at least contact Brock. Them landing him would be huge (or at least force WWE to raise their offer).

TNA can contact Brock all they want, but there's no way in hell he'd ever go there.

1) Could they even afford him?
2) TNA's got a shaky financial future.
3) Going to TNA would just make him even more persona non grata to Vince.
4) Working in TNA would make him look like a WWE reject.

Any Brock/TNA scenarios are completely ridiculous.

Spiff, I couldn't agree more.

I read at PWInsider that his no-compete clause runs out sometime in March 2005. Makes perfect sense Vince to let him sweat it out a couple of months, then bring him back post-WM.

Jeez, some people seem to think anything short of Vince bending over and spreading his asscheeks is a slap in the face.

Count me in the "he'll be back next three months" camp. He left on reasonably good terms, he's still over enough (maybe even got some mainstream recognition that might carry over? give the NFL one last shot?) and he just might draw. Think Vince'll turn that down?

I am probably going to go against everything said and ask the question'' if you wanted to follow a dream would you give it up after one season?'' I think VKM will do a deal whereby Brock will make teaser appearances , extending his no-compete clause until after the pre-season tryouts, then either introduce Brock explosively, already using the appearances as build up, or if he makes the cut letting the idea simmer or fade away.

This allows both parties to win-win. VKM gets publicity, view rates and control. Brock gets publicity, money and a feeling of putting one over VKM. Brock also knows if it doesnt work in the NFL after 2 pre-season tryouts it never will, and to try and return cold is fraught with danger and less money.A smart Brock would go along with the teaser idea and make him so over that he CAN ask for a better booking situation.

But hey i could be wrong.

Oh and Justin thank you for that great essay , helped me understand quite a lot I missed. And your right the booking isnt about the wrestler but about VKM and control.

The match sucked. It definitely was NOT 3 star level. Hogan looked like crap, and HBK was overselling big time. Sorry but this was NOT a great show. Benoit vs. Jordan. The finish we should've gotten a month ago. So what was the point then?
