Carlito's more a product of the World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico, than an OVW product.

OVW has also given us Mordeica, Tyson, Luther, Basham Brothers, all of the tough enough kids since thats where originally start, Jesus, and a ton of other useless talent. I wouldn't put Brock on that list as a good thing, in the long term he turned out to be a bust.

And though Scherer says its not likely and Dunn is 100% against it, the possibility still exists. And even if the quick answer to this thread is "they should just let ECW rest in peace", I think it would be a fresh angle. If they absolutley go ahead with it, I think RVD should beat JBL for the belt, and throw it down like Shane did years ago, and proclaim himself the ECW champion.
The only problem with this is that, to split hairs, technically the old NWA belt is the one Triple H is carrying around. While he SHOULD beat JBL to kickstart a >potentially< hot angle like that, it seems a large number of people forget that JBL is the actual WWE champion (though promoted as the lesser of the two, based on what I've witnessed from never watching Smackdown. :-) )

Doug Basham is actually pretty good. He's in a similar situation to Rob Conway, where they're both pretty good worker, but get put in a team w/ a less talented guy & don't get a chance to show what they can do.

He's only, like, the best guy to ever come out of there. If I produced the Brock Lesnar who wrestled in WWE, I'd be freaking proud of myself even if he only performed (outstandingly) for two years.
The Bashams are good workers as well. And the Mordecai/Tomko/Jesus names shouldn't really be taken as blemishes either since they were all called up way before Cornette would've ever considered them ready for prime time. It's not like he handed them to WWE as finished products.

Corrections:
1) Aaron Aguilera (Jesus) is actually pretty good. It's kind of interesting to see you judge him as a bust when you haven't even seen him wrestle yet. Name for me the last 6'5" guy you saw do lucha-style well?
2) He was in OVW for only a couple weeks. He was training with New Japan's L.A. Dojo before then.
3) Not all the TE kids came out of OVW. Maven went to HWA after winning TE1.
4) Mordecai's been a long-time signee. He was in the old Memphis developmental territory with Spanky & Cade.

By the way, I needed time to process the absurdity of this suggestion.
This the worst idea ever recorded in human history, but I don' mean to single you out because others have suggested it in the past.
The WWE title was peeled off from the NWA if my history is correct, and the Northeastern McMahon promotion started calling it a world title back then. This was around '63 or so. That title, then, is probably older than most of the people having this conversation right now. It was a bit of a stretch to call it a world title at first, but over time it built credibility. To suggest "trashing" it to get an angle going that has already been tried before and failed, and even if successful will not last more than a few months, is absurd and almost offensive.
And a bad business move, to boot.
Vince Russo, is that you?
Why you think it even a remote possibility WWE would tarnish by far their most prestigious title (especially since the current Big Gold on RAW is really only the ho-hum 1991-on strap from WCW and not the actual NWA championship) is beyond me. And for what? To put over a dead organization that never had more than a cult following? ECW isn't worth it.
WWE would never do this, and they shouldn't.
I realize a lot of people on the internet still have a bit of a woodie over ECW, but it simply doesn't matter enough now or then to be worth subjugating the actual living entity that is WWE.
It's done, it's over, let it die. This wouldn't be ECW if they tried it, it would be WWE. That's what people are forgetting. WWE doesn't get ECW, they can't do it, so it would be more like that horrifically bad Growing Pains TV movie than any kind of hardcore revolution redux.
After the last time, you'd think ECW fans wouldn't want their memories tainted by a McMahonified bastardization. It's like going back to your ex even though she has two std's and seven kids from seven other guys and once tried to cut off your wang.
