Most importantly -- Food Network was able to get Morimoto back as an Iron Chef. Mario Batali will still serve as ICA: Italian and Bobby Flay (and his trusty cold-sore sidekick) will be ICA: American.

The season will run for 10 weeks (as opposed to 13?); Rick Bayless and Ming Tsai are two of the challengers in the upcoming weeks. I'm all over the Tsai-Morimoto contest if it happens.

Ming Tsai would have made a fantatic Iron Chef. He's got a fantastic regular guy charisma to go with his dishes, some of which I've stolen and used to great success. Should be great to see him up against those heavy hitters though.

Any word on who the chairman will be?

I have seen the future of stand up and he is bike cheese.

I'd like to see Iron Chef America incorporate the Morimoto feud where an established chef sends his lieutenants against him to prove traditional style is better. Too bad Morimoto and Flay made nice becuase they had the makings of a dandy blood-rivalry going.

So glad they got (THEMONSTER) Ming this time, but whither Chen or Kobe? How can Emeril resist the chance to be on TV for another hour?

ICA's "Chairman" is Mark Dacascos; he was in the syndie series "The Crow: Stairway to Heaven," and if memory serves me right, he's gone Ohta-shavedhead-bald in the series.

Also, from what I read on a Tivo forum, the ICA: French will be revealed around episode four or five. Who is it? I'm not telling; you'll have to see for yourself.

I can't really think of anyone on the current Food TV roster of chefs/shows that would fit the ICA: French mold - is it too much to hope that the producers would spring for the airfare and bring in Sakai ?

The over-the-top visuals and slavish recreation of the cartoon style are the best parts of this. The dialog and "serious" bits are the worst parts.
