RAW Thoughts:

Well, I'm glad Maven was in charge this week, so we'll have someone GOOD in charge next week when I attend RAW. Turns out this was a pretty good show, though....The tag title match was really good, and helped out by the crowd. It dragged toward the end, but I like the fire shown by Regal and Eugene when they won the belts....The backstage interview with Maria (who is HORRIBLE) was interesting if only because of the chocolate milk, if you know what I mean. Although with her rubbing her breasts, you'd think she liked it. Oh, and Regal telling Eugene he'd go blind was awesome too....

Molly v.s Lita was thankfully short....Hey, Coach v.s Orton is better than Coach v.s JR. Again, thankfully short....The Edge/Christian encounter backstage was worth it for just Christian's "be careful that you don't sprain your vocal chords and miss another 6 months" comment....The tag match was good, and if E&C tagged again on a permanent basis (which I hoped would happen, if only to get Edge out of the world title picture), it'd add a little more fire to the tag title scene....

The fan laughing at Edge and him telling her to shut-up was good....Christy v.s Stacy was some good T&A fun....I bet Hunter's "I'd like to stuff her pillow" comment WASN'T written by Steph....His backstage segment with Batista was good too. I think we're seeing signs of Batista maybe going his separate way....At least the Simon Dean angle incorporated a wrestler this week (and was short)....

Nice touch of having Benoit, Orton and Jericho each speak to Maven backstage. I liked Benoit's promo....They've finally crossed the line with the Hassan character. He was WAY more heelish here than he has been, and threatening to lead a revolt against the country is sickening....The main event was decent, but too much interference. Are you telling me Evolution didn't think he could beat MAVEN cleanly?

It is very weird watching RAW and rooting for Trip to win. God Bless Ric Flair for making the save. If Maven can't get a World Title win in what amounted to a 3 on 1 match with Jericho and Benoit saving him repeatedly and dishing out all the offense, perhaps its time to send the Tough Enough Bunch kid out to pasture.
Seems like the wrestlers provided much better interviews/promos backstage tonite than they usually provide in ring.
Nova vs. Rosey. That should really draw in the viewers.
I guess they've decided to abandon the Arab-American lukewarm face run. Was the naming of the convenience store owner/clerk Akbar a dig at the great General Skandar Akbar. And, since they aren't going to go PC on this angle, Vince needs to go completely over the top in tastelessness. He owns ECW, so that means he owns a certain name. Hire a midget, name him 911, and when a top rope move is attempted by Hassan, have the midget scream to Hassan's manager: The Plane, The Plane Boss, The Plane. It is patently offensive, but then again, that is what Vince has always done best.
Regal seemed thrilled with his tag title win. The DivaCrapFest interviewer really seemed clueless though. Quick guess that was Dinsmore's family that came into the ring to celebrate with Eugene?

RAW wasnt so bad, but you knew Maven wasnt gonna win. So, the ending was predictable, but effective. I dont get the Edge & Xtian plot twist. Is Christian gonna turn face now? I did like the Benoit promo with Maven though. Nice to see some intensity again from Chris.

BTW, was that Weiner-snitzel sign in the front row related to this site in anyway or was it just a pro-Snitsky sign?

Eugene and Tajiri had a great exchange during that tag match. Regal yelling at Eugene for staring at the breasts was the highlight.

I wish Snitsky would just go back to taunting Lita with the baby carriage.

I loved the Edge/Christian interaction, both backstage and in the ring. In Canada, they replaced Edge's Trudeau salute with a graphic of the upcoming match. Push Christian now!

Oh, and your Molly report: Still smokin' hot.

* I guess it was Lawler's turn to have verbal slip-ups. He got Maven and Eugene confused during the first match. And he must have been having a flashback, because he called Eugene's partner "Steven Regal". * At least JR must have made him feel better with "They're celebrating in Blackpool, celebrating in ... Eugene's hometown". LOL! Celebrating in Parts Unknown? Happy days indeed!
* I loved the chain wrestling between Tajiri and Eugene.
* Regal post-match was the oddest thing I had seen in quite some time. He's always so serious most of the time, so to see him make a joke and then preen for the camera just seemed strange.
* "The Last Temptation of the Maven". Triple H tries to get Maven to sell his soul for a jelly donut.
* I liked Molly's, um, bustier I guess it was. And shock! Essa Rios gets a mention. Lita is the kiss of death! Maybe we can get her to hook up with Triple H?
* Trish has plastic surgery. She'll probably end up all pig-nosed. "No change! No change at all!"
* Go to WWE.Com and tell this question, "Will Maven join Evolution"? Seriously, tell us, because we have no idea what to do right now.
* I'm glad JR vs Coach was changed, because that match would have made me yearn for the good old days, when Mae Young would hump helpless Tough Enough contestants.
* OOH, a middle finger. That's edgy. That's attitude! Oh wait, that's not the company slogan anymore. Oh well.
* King lost the legal man. I guess that's OK, since the referee did too.
* Edge telling the cackling audience member to shut up was hilarious.
* Triple H offers his cleaning services to Christie.
* "Don't you ever call him [Batista] stupid, you hear me!?! He's not stupid!"
* I saw Muhammad Hassan for the first time. Seem's pretty heelish to me.
* I liked the crazy go nuts quality of the finish, but something seems weird seeing the heel champion perservering to hold onto his title against multiple challengers who keep trying to cheat to beat him. Plus, what did Triple H take, like everyone's finisher, plus a chairshot? Man ...

All in all, I liked the show.

The Lovely Mrs. Tracker is blinded by the feminine beauty of Maven and his shaped eyebrows.

The new tag champs only bring me hope of entertaining defenses if new teams emerge.

I kinda sorta maybe called Rosey as Simon's first feud, but it wasn't much of a stretch. We have yet to see any move from him except the Rings of Saturn (the Simon Stretch?) a few weeks back. And we can't expect any power moves (slams, bombs, suplexes, etc) against someone the size of Rosey.

The transfer from JR to Orton as Coach's opponent was the most nonsensical thing I've seen on RAW this year, and that's saying A LOT. Maven totally botched it: "The J is silent."

Great tag match tonight between Christian/Edge and Benoit/Benjamin. The final spot with Christian reaching for a tag and Benoit floating over to the Crossface was perfect. I'm very much buying Edge as a full-on heel.

It would be ... interesting to see Snitsky push Batista out of Evolution for the latter's face turn. But what are we saying? Snitsky in Evolution already?!

Geez, it seems even DEAN and Screaming Head Guy didn't watch (I assume those two regular threads are what everyone's waiting to reply to/use to comment on RAW).

- The opening tag was really good, and I hope that maybe this means they're going to do something with the tag team division. However, they botched that tonight by getting rid of yet another tag team, Hurricane and Rosey, as it appears the latter will be involved in a singles feud with...

- ...Simon Dean. This character has a shorter shelf-life than a gallon of uncovered milk with no preservatives added.

- I'm really liking Edge as a heel, although it would've been nice for him not to beat the crap out of Christian. It'll only result in one of two things: turning Christian face (why?) or further burying him.

- I'm interested in seeing what the ratings are for the Lingerie pillow fights and other diva nonsense that they do, as (coming from a heterosexual male) these things are boring as Hell and not all that sexy.

- Lita didn't seem like the sloppy mess she usually was in the ring, although her match with Molly was admittedly short. It seems they might be heading towards the "some of Kane's viciousness seems to have rubbed off" angle. In which case, they should have her gain the ability to make fire spit out of the turnbuckles. Then, as she examines her hands in shock and surprise after she's summoned the pyrotechnics, a little demon-like baby can claw out of her stomach (like in the movie Alien and its sequels) and attack Gene Snitsky while Ross exclaims "my God, the fire still burned in her stomach all along!" This could easily be done with CGI, and isn't any more ridiculous than wrestlers sharing secrets/strategies/private motivations in front of a camera.

- There were hints of Batista possibly turning face, with HHH basically calling him a piece of meat...which I hope to God doesn't happen. He's too useful as a heel, and as much as people hate HHH, there'd be a lot more complaining if he didn't have other people to hand the mic and/or attention over to once in awhile.

- As for the main event...I got really confused and thought I was watching a TNA main event for a second, with the ridiculous number of run-ins and all. If you have to do that much to cover a guy's lack of in-ring ability (Maven), then maybe he shouldn't get a push in the first place. I'm surprised they went with Maven as GM the first week...then again, maybe it's best to get that out of the way as soon as possible.

It was incredible. Simply incredible...the amount of random thoughts that popped in my head during the one hour HHH/Maven backstage skit. I mean...damn did I zone out.

I really don't know what to say. Some good action at the end there, but overall the show left me...really just bored. The Monday Night game wasn't too competitive, but I was still flipping back and forth.

...The beauty of Raw...your mind just floats around.

(By the way, I'm not sure if it was said or not...Were E&C ever mentioned as "brothers?")

BTW, is it just me or is Trish just making me ooze with sympathy with that face shield? She is just awesome as a heel. Lita was a total bitch doing that to Molly and Trish. What a slut.

Listening to Trish's promo, it's apparent she inherited her voice from Christy, who in turn inherited it from Stephanie. When will the string of high-pitched, whiny Divas end?! Now, my only hope is that Lita is given an "insane crippler" gimmick, and single-handedly wipe out the entire woman's roster, and thus WWE would have no choice but to air old Megumi Kudo matches in order to fill in the dead air. The public will be so impressed by the joshi matches, that they'll start demanding Exploding Barbed Wire Woman's Death Matches every week. Thus, a new golden age of women's wrestling will be born.

Speaking of Christy, while her match with Stacy was nothing extraordinary, I was kind of surprised to see to see no one doing a run-in. A few months earlier, Gail Kim or Jazz would have crashed that party in an instant. Anyway, Stacy's showing of good sportsmanship post-match managed to get an "Aaaawwww..." out of me. I'm a softie.

Simon Dean vs. Rosey? Why not. How many other large-sized RAW Superstars are there? Who says Jared's Subway campaign isn't reaching anyone?

On to Mohammed Hassan... I thought they were actually gonna go for "sympathetic Arab-American being led astray by the radical heel manager", but it seems Vince couldn't wrap his head around that and he said, "Ah, screw it, I'll just have him declare Jihad on the WWE!" I guess poor Uncle Akbar's plight was the straw that broke Hassan's back.

Finally, like many others, I was rooting for Triple H to win that match, since I have never seen so many heel tactics being pulled off... BY THE BABYFACES! Triple H was right. If Maven had won the World Title, he would have been easy pickings, since it had to take both Benoit AND Jericho to allow Maven to even have something resembling a CHANCE of beating Triple H. My prediction: They're saving Randy Orton for the fourth week of Bischoff's vacation, so one of the Canadian Chrisses will be GM for the next week.

It seems like the face heirarchy remains thus:
Orton
Benoit
HBK
Benjamin
Jericho
Regal
Eugene
Maven
Tajiri
Rhyno
Hurricane
Rosey

Orton beat Benoit clean. Benoit beat everyone else clean, including HBK. Benjamin beat a bunch of guys clean, including Jericho. Regal & Eugene can beat lower-guys clean. Maven needs tons of help.

I'll do you one better: the next two weeks will be Jericho followed by Benoit as GM. Each will book themselves into a main event match against HHH. Each will lose. Finally it gets to Orton's match, who will book a Fatal 4-way for the title, with Maven, Benoit, and Jericho all taking on HHH for the title. Maven will turn and join Evolution as the new "Blue chipper."

There's my prediction for the next month of Raw. Sound reasonable?

Triple H's spiel to Maven just went on and on and on and ... how many times can you say the same thing over and over again anyway?

It was nice to see Christian and Edge interact again. I'm not sure how I feel about Christian looking like a bitch at the end though.

That was the ultimate TNA ending to a Main Event.

I would like to congratulate HHH for now being part of just about every mid to upper midcard wrestler. He has history/tension with the following:

Flair
Batista
Jericho
Benoit
Orton
Eugene
Regal
Edge
HBK
Snitsky
Benjamin

Am I missing anyone? Oh, and Bischoff.

I am sick and tired of RAW. I am sick and tired of HHH. I wish Hollywood would call on him and put him in a star of some stupid movie just ot get him off camera for a few weeks. his stroke over the programming of RAW is so ridiculous that it makes me want to watch ANYTHING but RAW. I find myself flipping so much more now than ever. And if you do not see what is coming down the bend, you are nuts:

Next Week - Benoit is GM and books HHH in a submission match. Of course, Benoit taps to the cross face and loses.

Week After - Jericho is GM and books HHH in a last man standing match. Of course, HHH will be the ladt one standing.

Final Week - Orton books himself into a stipulation match with HHH. If Orton wins, he gets a shot at the title at the next PPV. If HHH wins, Orton will leave the WWE. of course, after weeks of defending the title and with some help from his lackeys (Jericho, benoit and Maven), orton overcomes all odds with a RKO "out of nowhere") and wins thus setting up a PPV title match, which he will win to prolong this utterly boring feud.

I am really bitter towards the WWE and RAW right now. The only thing they could do to save this 4 week arc is to have Orton book Batista v. HHH for the title on week 4 and have Batista win. That would make me happy.
