Now we'll see if he gets put to death. I thought him guilty all along, what with his planned trip to Mexico with a bit of a disguise, but I'm glad that it ended this way. Of course, Laci's family lost a daughter, a grandson, and a son-in-law, who they say they loved very much before the trial.

Now Geraldo Rivera and Great Van Sustern will have to find different topics to talk about every night.

Sure wish they could have found him guilty without removing two jurors. Got a feeling we're going to have start this crap all over again shortly.

Expect the appeal to be filed, right now. Of course, the judge conferred with both the sides' lawyers on removing both of them, so it might be hard to do it, but not impossible. All they have to do is find one by the book judge and its over.

I have a question: How on earth is Scott Peterson going to be able to pay his lawyer? I mean hes going to be in prison for the rest of his life how will he come up with the money to pay ? Do lawyers just take cases like these to get there name out in the public? I know OJ had to auction off most of his stuff just to pay for the damages in the second trial. I also know that Peterson had a decent job and was pretty well off but how is he going to have the money to pay Geragos?

Yeah really. What are they gonna do to him? Sue him? Send him to jail? Garnish his salary? There's probebly an explanation, but until I hear it, I'd say they're screwed.

I would guess that these things are probably worked out before hand. I doubt lawyers take cases without arranging some sort of payment terms ahead of time.

His family was paying for most it, and you can bet it was all charged in advance. Word is that his family is virtually destitute now because of the bills.

So Geragos already got his money -

I am not sure we are going to see much in the way of appeal here. I mean, Geragos would love to do it, I just don't think the Petersons are going to be able to afford it. Geragos isn't going to do it for free...

Well, if California's criminal justice system works anything like that of Florida's, Peterson is entitled to have a Public Defender appointed to represent him for purposes of appeal. Bear in mind, if there are no eyewitnesses to the murder, the case against Peterson is (from a strictly legal standpoint) circumstantial... and there are many, many cases that have been reversed on appeal because the circumstantial evidence wasn't enough to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. I don't know enough about California law and the facts of the case to render a fully-informed opinion, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an appeal with a semi-decent legal issue or two.

What bothers me more is Geragos' no-show for the verdict. It's not like he didn't know the verdict was going to be read at the apppropriate time today. If I'm that trial judge, I'm issuing an order for Geragos to appear before me and to give me a good reason why I shouldn't hold his ass in contempt... and sending him to jail if he can't. Way to bail on your client at the moment of truth, tough guy. That's why they pay you the big bucks, huh?

Thank god it's over...til the next rich person within a days drive of LA turns up murdered.

I just hope the big four media outlets got the profit they desired by milking dry this woman's unfortunate death. Maybe someone can build them another mansion, and when the made for TV movie comes out, an island.

I'm shocked that they found him guilty. Usually, California juries go a long way of botching up these kind of cases.

Now, let's make sure he fries...

The Left, the base of the Democratic Party, hail the virtues of tolerance and consider themselves to be the tolerant citizens of America. In their touting of tolerance they express their obvious disdain for those whose views run contrary to that of enlightened Liberalism.

Dare to make a statement of conviction of any kind, and one of these Leftists will set down his cheese and wine, pause his lecture on the virtues of plurality and the absurdity of the belief in absolute Truth, and tell you your convictions -- everything you believe and hold dear -- are absolutely wrong. Where does he get his understanding that what you claim is "right" is actually not? Against what standard is this wrongness measured? He can't say. All he knows is that you're a bigot, you're intolerant, you're not worthy of being an American. In fact, you're not smart enough to understand what it means to be an American.

And not only are you dumb, you're dangerous. Fanatics like you don't belong in a "tolerant" culture like ours. You and your beliefs and the people who share them should not be allowed in our civilized society . . . or, at the very least, you should be denied the right to vote. Because when you vote, when you're politically active, you screw everything up.

I thought this was all cannon fodder for the tabloid newspapers, not an actual trial. There were countless headlines on the National Inquirer, the Sun, everything about Scott and Laci, but I thought it was all a joke or something the media conjured up..

Wow.

The media really tried turning this case to a OJ phenomenon, I just didn't see it no matter how many shows Larry King devoted to it.

smark/net attack wienerville advisory holds at ORANGE alert - High (JBL is STILL WWE champion and now smarks arch enemy HHH is the World Champion. Major red threat, but the undercard seems okay. The alert holds... for now)- 9/19

Why would you add a reply onto a thread that hasn't had any replies for six days?
