Sweet Christmas Pixar has done it again folks. This movie is everything that superhero flicks should be and more. After only seeing it once it has already knocked Monster's, Inc. down a peg as my favorite Pixar movie. I can't recommend this one enough. Do yourself a favor and go see it (and/or take your kids, too). For those with younger children take note this movie has some definite dark and extreme moments. People die and several children found it to be a bit much at my screening so consider yourself warned.

The wife and I just saw it, I picked the only theater out of the three showing that didn't have the Episode III, I left in the last two minutes to see the end logo in the next theater. I was pissed, but the movie was awesome. It remind me of Watchmen espically the Villian's plot. I really enjoyed the littel things about the movie and action scenes were awesome. Shoe in for animated film of the year.
"All faith reguires is giving into the possibility of hope."
I was really surprised at how LONG it was. (Not that it's a bad thing.) The past Pixar films have been around 90-100 minutes, I think. (IMDB confirms: Toy Story = 81 min; Toy Story 2 = 92 min; A Bug's Life = 96 min; Monsters, Inc. = 92 min; Finding Nemo = 100 min) This one was right around 2 hours. I loved Wallace Shawn and John Ratzenberger showing up, tying it in to the other Pixar films. Did Edna remind anyone else of Linda Hunt?
Originally posted by Deputy MarshallInterestingly enough, according to IMDB.com "The Incredibles" is the longest running CG animated film ever made. Well, so far.
Unless, of course, you measure time by how it feels, in which case Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was fourteen hours long.
"Four more years of American soldiers being used as cannon fodder. Four more years of scientific decisions being made by people who believe in a ghost in the clouds. Four more years of debt that our children and grandchildren will have to pay off. Four more years of racists and lunatics for judicial appointments. Four more years of looting the treasury and squandering it on corporate cronies. Four more years of making enemies faster than we can kill them. Four more years of fear and darkness and racism and hatred and stupidity and guns and bad country music.
I look at the big map and all of the red in flyover country and I feel like I've been locked in a room with the slow learners. We have become the country that pulls a dry cleaning bag over its head to play astronaut." -----TBogg
I couldn't really avoid this as I have two DrOplets (7 and 4). In my mind, Pixar has done it again as well (and they don't really seem to be able to do wrong as Vile said).
The kids in my theater loved the movie, although because it was so long my daughter did fall asleep for about 5 minutes.
Two parts Fantastic Four, one part Spy Kids, one part True Lies. An Awesome, AWESOME movie with the usual hidden and obvious social commentary. What's more, the pay-offs in the plot are well worth the wait--SO funny! I recommend this especially to those that don't like comics and may otherwise avoid this movie *cough*CRZ*cough* ;). You do NOT have to even like comics to enjoy this film.
Thumbs up.
Oh yeah, and the Episode III Trailer was nice. Annikan with yellow eyes scared more kids than anything else.

I think Shrek 2 may have something to say about that.
I was on the other side, I came in expecting a comedy, but other than some moments it wasnt a comedy. It was a decent action movie, but I was a little disappointed. I will say however that Jason Lee was awesome in this.

Technically they're yellow and red eyes. I have the exact same contacts, and they're almost visible in my new avatars with the horns. They are the Wildfire eyes (www.wild-eyes.com). Yellow around the center that flares out to red.
Here's an old closeup of my contacts from May.
And now, for a limited time only, it rhymes with "door hinge!"
It's been said, but bears repeating: SARAH VOWELL~!
Seriously, Pixar blew away my high expectations. I though Spider-Man 2 was an excellent mix of humor and action, but I swear I've never seen superhero action (or any other action, for that matter) choreographed so well. The plot was well conceived, too. I'm still laughing from Elastigirl's trip/capture in the corridor.
So, um, I don't want you to believe everything you hear at the parent-teacher conference, okay, 'cause...they lie. And they exaggerate. That's why they're teachers, right? Those who can't, right, Mom? Those who can't.
Loved what I saw of it. However, it was too intense for my 3 year old (we left during the cave scene with Mr. Incredible -- trying not to spoil anything here).
I am so psyched for Ep III, however, as is my 9 year old and Mrs Sec19.
Mrs Dunk and I took the 2 Dunkettes (6 & 4) yesterday and all four of us thought it was great - my littlest one wanted to know when she could see The Incredibles 2
Folk singers are always liberal pansies, but not me.....I sing for my fellow conservatives...care to hear "Shoot the Hippie out of the Redwood Tree" ?

I was a little disappointed in the singing in Far Far Away Idol - that's what made the original Karaoke Party work so well. I can get the kids to sing any of those songs, but I'm not sure that will happen with these.
Having said that, the jokes that were slung around during Idol *were* pretty good.

Yeah, I caught Shrek 2 this weekend and I gotta say - I liked the first one better. The song selections for this film just didn't click with me. Although I *am* looking for a screenshot of "Puss in Boots" with that one expression. You know which one.

I know that I say this with every Pixar movie, but the animation and overall graphics for The Incredibles were the best I've ever seen. The scenes with water were especially amazingly rendered. The graphics were akin to me to a hot wrestling crowd; it makes the story even more interesting and fun to watch.
The movie didn't quite reach the level of Monsters, Inc or Toy Story for me (too much heavy-handedness in the "message" of the film), but it was better than Shrek 2 and deserves the Oscar next year.
WADSWORTH: The games up, Scarlet. There are no more bullets left in that gun. SCARLET: Oh, come on, you don't think I'm gonna fall for that old trick? WADSWORTH: It's not a trick. There was one shot at Mr. Boddy in the study. Two for the chandelier, two at the lounge door, and one for the singing telegram. SCARLET:That's not six. WADSWORTH: One plus two plus two plus one. SCARLET:Nuh, uh. There was only one shot that got the chandelier. That's one plus two plus ONE plus one. WADSWORTH: Even if you are right, that would be one plus one plus two plus one, not one plus TWO plus one plus one. SCARLET:(thinking) Okay, fine. One plus two plus one--(angered) Shut up!

Very true. However, it should also be noted that (according to Entertainment Weekly) Pixar's going for the big prize and submitting The Incredibles for Best Picture.
That said, this was VERY good and definitely had a more cerebral feel than other Pixar movies, especially with the origins of Syndrome. Good times and I'm definitely in line for a second viewing.
When the hell did SNITSKYMANIA start to run wild???

Saw this last night. WOW! Action Packed! It was the first movie I've seen in a while where I didn't know who was the bad guy and who was the good guy until the last ten or fifteen minutes of the film. Shai Lebouf was fantastic in his role.
