Michael Caine and Robert Duvall both spring immediately to mind as overlooked. Maybe the people who voted all really hated Secondhand Lions or something. I admit, Caine isn't always the pickiest in terms of what scripts he does (Miss Congeniality, anyone?), but he can still absolutely bring the goods.

What the hell's Redford doing on there? I know, legendary star and all that, but the last good movie I saw him in was friggin' Sneakers. Yay for creating Sundance and all that, but he's far more prominent for his past roles than the work he's done since fifty. Hell, that movie he did with Michelle Pfeiffer was so bad it should disqualify him from contending for any award ever again. Yes, it sucked that bad.

Ben Kingsley should be higher. Bill Murray could potentially be higher, but I suppose Lost in Translation, Rushmore and Groundhog Day don't necessarily outweigh The Man Who Knew Too Little and that elephant movie.

I think Patrick Stewart would also fit on the list, if you're going by sheer ability. While he rarely gets the A-list material to work with, I think he can act just about as well as anybody on that list given the chance.

Is Gary Oldman fifty yet? :)

This list just makes me realize how much better these older actors are than the current crop. If they made a Greatest Movie Stars Under 50 list, it would be sad in comparison, and all the top performers would be damn close to fifty.

I wonder why the decline in quality? Come to think of it, the quality of popular music has declined in a similar matter.

"Are you- are you sad?"

-No.

"But your- your songs are sad."

-My songs are of time and distance. The sadness is in you. Watch my arms. There is only the dance. These things you treasure are shells.

Nice list Freeway, I'm still amazed how Robin Willams seem to really step up once he reached 50.

Seeing the lack of women on the list it really shows how difficult it is for women once they reach 40-50 in Hollywood. So it got me thinking, who's over 50 that I'd consider good... Susan Sarandon came to mind as she's 58 (and how amazing does she still look!). But then I did some checking & she really hasn't done anything too great in the last 8 years (maybe Igby Goes Down). She did some amazing work when she was in her 40s, topping it off by winning the Oscar for best lead Actress for Dead Man Walking in 1996.

smark/net attack wienerville advisory holds at ORANGE alert - High (JBL is STILL WWE champion and now smarks arch enemy HHH is the World Champion. Major red threat, but the undercard seems okay. The alert holds... for now)- 9/19

I love being able to turn to FFX and watch for either a few minutes of some hours and remember some one liners I forgot. Warden: There's no air in space! Homer: But there is air in the air and space museum!
