Schilling will appear with Bush at rallies at the Verizon Wireless Arena and at the Pease International Tradeport.
The Sox player urged viewers to vote for Bush on ABC's "Good Morning America" program yesterday morning. The Bush campaign then quickly invited him to join the President in his final campaign visit to the Granite State, sources said. Schilling gladly accepted.
Schilling made the unexpected endorsement of the President on the ABC program just as he and his wife, Shonda, wrapped up an interview with host Charles Gibson.
"And make sure you tell everybody to vote," Schilling said, "and vote Bush next week."
I wish I saw the GMA thing. Gibson probably almost choked on his coffee...
That Curt Schilling, he's really having a hell of a week. First his Superman performances, then making the smart choice on politics. Of course, it won't have a big impact, I hope. I don't think people vote based on a pitcher. We all know they vote based on a donkey or an elephant.

While I hope to see him re-elected, it's not my place, nor the time for me to offer up my political opinons unsolicited. I am proud we have the right to vote, and the message I wanted to send but didn't, was that regardless of who you are voting for, the bottom line is that you MUST vote. Maybe he didn't want to politicize the World Series jubilation. That was a classy retraction, too. Glad to see he voted as well.
Let's face it though - if you are a pro athelete and vote Democrat, you are probably a fool.

Because he plays in a Blue state.

I kinda figured that Curt was a bush supporter, it was just a vibe I got from him. Although I am about as far opposite as possible, I still love the guy, and he is a hero. I think it may have been a good idea not to go campaigning...most have made up their minds, and while we may vote differently, right now, I just want to celebrate the world series as a sox fans, not liberals or conservatives.

Does this mean he won't be at the fiasco, I mean the rolling rally/parade on Saturday (and, when he retires from office, someone needs to give Mayor Tom Menino an HBO comedy special. His natural stupidity is comedic gold)? And, how was he able to fly to Florida to go to Disney, but can't drive across state lines? I wonder how much Watergate lawyer Lucchino and DNC donor/Red Sox owner Tom Werner told him to keep quiet? Personally, I really couldn't care what Schilling says in regards to the election, much as I wish Springsteen and others would shut up. However, if Bush really wanted to steal a few Kerry states, he just has to run 1 commercial: 'As President, the Patriots won 2 Super Bowls, the Red Sox won a World Series, and the Yankees didn't win a championship.' That would at least swing New Hampshire and make him competitive in Kerry's other backyard states.
If Bush ran that ad, then Kerry would have to run the, "And you know who that hurts? The South. Sorry Missouri. Sorry Carolina. Your teams don't have Pretty Tom Brady, so the President doesn't care about you. I don't think he even likes NASCAR."
BAM. With the NASCAR comment, probably both NC and SC vote for Kerry.

Don't you think he probably chose Bush prior to this week?
"Why limit it to Pro Atheletes?"
Why limit it to people whose lives don't preposterously revolve around what political party people are registered to. I PERSONALLY NOW FEEL: CURT SCHILLING AND RIC FLAIR BAD, MICK FOLEY AND PUFF DADDY GOOD. Fnyar fnyar fnyar.

Why limit it to Pro Atheletes?
No kidding. That's why, in economic terms, it makes no sense that they are Democrats.
Not true - Democrats are much bigger supporters of the players unions, which are basically the reason your average left-handed middle-reliever with a mid 80s fastball and a sporadic curve still makes 10x the salary of your average American.

Except that most athletes are Republicans...
Incidentally, Rafael Palemrio and Juan Gonzalez stumped for W today. More info forthcoming...

Most Athletes? I call on you to prove that one. Ill give you NASCAR and maybe MLB. But I doubt the NBA and NFL, which are 90% and 75% percent black respectively, lean GOP. Couple that with the fact that all three Major sports have strong unions.

Most union reps from sports are Republicans. You have to remember, that athletes actually have to perform in order to get paid and make a lot of money. There's a lot of individual responsibility in that, moreso than any other union.
Incidentally, the following I can verify are Republicans - 9 out of the 10 NASCAR drivers - Jack Kemp - Steve Largent - JC Watts - Palmeiro - Gonzalez - Todd Heap - Matt Stover - Brooks Robinson - Boog Powell

No, its actually based on more recent info, like the 1996 poll that Grimis referenced, as well as my personal experience. I used to work as a reporter for a small town newspaper, and Ive recently taken grad classes alongside local TV reporters.
