What do all you folks think will be the Survivor Series card?
On the Raw side I would love to see a good old fashioned triple-threat match? (When did they debut anyway?) I think it would be just swell if Triple H (Heel), Randy Orton (Face) and Ric Flair (Tweener) fought for the World Heavyweight Title and Orton walked out with the belt after pinning Flair.
On the Smackdown side I think the only way they could promote a main event would be a Survivor Series match. Angle, Jindrak, Reigns, JBL & Orlando Jordan (?) vs. Booker T, Big Show, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio & Rob Van Dam. Again I would like to see the faces prevail in this match with someone pinning JBL and therefore creating a new number one contender but what does everybody else think?
Hey what's up! With your interest in this topic, you might also be interested in reading this earlier discussion. But that stigmatized thread title would seem to indicate that this one is to become Survivor Series Card Thread Prime.
"On the Raw side I would love to see a good old fashioned triple-threat match? (When did they debut anyway?)"
Well I do believe WWF started using them in 1997. First as a gimmick for house show main events with different combinations of Undertaker, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, and Hunter Hearst Helmsley. But those were under different rules where two guys would wrestle for five minute intervals, then another guy would rotate in, and so on until someone scored a decision. Then the current triple threat rules showed up sometime that summer.
"I think it would be just swell if Triple H (Heel), Randy Orton (Face) and Ric Flair (Tweener) fought for the World Heavyweight Title and Orton walked out with the belt after pinning Flair."
I think the idea is to keep Orton and Hunter apart in any kind of title situation until Wrestlemania, which is a shame because there were all sorts of storyline possibilities before Orton had turned doing threeways with Benoit. Threeway wrestling matches. Meltzer says there have been some ideas for now turning Flair babyface and having him go on his One Last Flair For The Gold against HHH, so it's possible. I always prefer to see them do the elimination tag matches at Survivor Series even though they don't draw, so if I got to pick that's what I'd choose. Just let Undertaker/Heidenreich draw the (lowest for SS in 10 years) buyrate.
"On the Smackdown side I think the only way they could promote a main event would be a Survivor Series match."
I agree 'cause as much as I like Booker T and think he deserves a top spot, it doesn't seem like a singles match with JBL would be a major part of a major PPV. More a feud for house shows and a TV main event.
"Angle, Jindrak, Reigns, JBL & Orlando Jordan (?) vs. Booker T, Big Show, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio & Rob Van Dam."
I can't believe hypothetical Team Angle actually has more dead weight than Team Lesnar 2003 (aka Team BEEF, Cole!). But yeah, that sounds about right, except that they also started to put Chavo and Eddie back together this week. There's no one good to kick out from the face side unless they did the Booker/JBL title match or pulled Van Dam & Mysterio to win the tag titles. But having Kidman or Carlito on the heel side would be way better to give them the rub and get them in the mix of the main players instead of wasting a spot on Poorlando.
"I would like to see the faces prevail in this match with someone pinning JBL and therefore creating a new number one contender but what does everybody else think?"
I think that would be the logical finish for such a match.
I've always wanted to see a Survivor Series match for the belt. Just announce that it would be 5 versus 5 in regular SS match elimination rules, and when one team is totally eliminated, the remaining members of the winning team then face off in a two, three, four or five-way dance for the title.

I know this is just one fan's opinion, but not having bought a PPV since Wrestlemania, if they were to run an angle with Flair making one last shot at the title (and give me some vibe like maybe I'll see Flair get it one last time) I would be willing to plunk down the cash for it. Just like I paid to see Eddie and Benoit each win their big titles, I would drop the cash for one last time seeing Flair raise the big gold belt up. I don't care that he's old, slow, flabby. Flair is part of my growing up. As long as I've been around, Flair has been around, and I would love one last chance to pay homage. I say Flair takes the belt, holds it until WM, loses it to Orton, building to Orton/HHH at Summerslam 05. But that's just me.
HELP IS ON THE WAY! "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." - George W. Bush 8/5/04
This is how I'd book Survivor Series, everything being equal.
RAW Triple H & Batista v. Randy Orton & Ric Flair Chris Benoit v. Edge Shelton Benjamin v. Christian v. Chris Jericho v. Tyson Tomko v. William Regal v. Gene Snitsky in an Elimination Chamber Match for the Intercontinental Title Trish Stratus & Molly Holly v. Victoria & Stacy Keibler
Smackdown JBL v. Booker T for the WWE Title Heidenreich v. The Undertaker Kurt Angle, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak, Carlito Caribbean Cool & Billy Kidman v. Los Guerreros, The Big Show, Rob Van Dam & Rey Mysterio in a Survivor Rules Match Kenzo Suzuki & Rene Dupree v. Rico & Charlie Haas for the WWE Tag Team Titles
"Meltzer says there have been some ideas for now turning Flair babyface and having him go on his One Last Flair For The Gold against HHH, so it's possible. "
Actually I think Flair as a full babyface would be the best option to go one on one with the game. Of course, WWE being WWE Triple H would probably walk out with the belt but it would be nice to believe at least that Flair could win the gold. I'd also add Orton and Batista in each man's corner and then maybe do that tag team main event - Batista & HHH vs. Flair & Orton - at Armageddon.
For the undercard:
Shawn Michaels vs. Edge - Grudge Match
Randy Orton, Chris Benoit, Eugene, William Regal & Some other guy (who gets eliminated in the first five minutes 'cos he was just there to make up the numbers) vs. Batista, La Resistance, Christian & Tyson Tomko - This would be a decent match even though it involves Tomko. It would add some flair (no pun intended) to the main event with Orton & Batista being there and it will have all the top tag team contenders in there.
Other Raw matches:
Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho - Rematch for the Intercontinental title
Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Gail Kim, Jazz & Dawn Marie (as a special guest from Smackdown to make up the numbers) vs. Christy, Stacy Keibler, Victoria, Nidia & Torrie Wilson (again, a special guest from Smackdown to make up the numbers)
Smackdown:
That 5 Man Tag Match I mentioned before.
Chavo Guerrero vs. Carlito Carribean Cool - US Title.
Heidenreich vs. Undertaker - Hopefully this will be over quick and mercifully but where has hope got us before.
Billy Kidman vs. whoever Chavo's friend was from Smackdown! (I'm guessing Paul London to come back and get his win back from No Mercy)
Thats 8 Matches but if they needed any more they could always use something like The Dudleyz vs. Dupree & Suzuki vs. the FBI for the tag titles but that would only be a card filler like most of the matches.
So if I am right we don't exactly have a lot to look forward to.

For all the HHHaters out there this is not an endorsement but a comment..If HHH had to chase 18 titles would he do it? Or with it been a Flair/Survivor to HHH/WM21 switch the timeline to pass Flair would still be in HHHs reach?
I have posted before I think that an Orton/Flair Legend or Legend Killer match or even a Flair/Foley grudge/retirement stip match would generate more heat and viewers than a HHH v anyone match. Even if it was a HHH/Flair face turn.
I'd go w/ Evolution (w/ say Christian and Edge vs. Orton's team (say, Benjamin, Jericho, Regal and Eugene.) HHH has no one to really defend against.
Maybe have a Flair turn to help Orton there.
Smackdown main: JBL vs. Booker T definitely. Booker can be rebuilt. This can be a money match. Booker wins the belt, drops it to Angle which very nicely segues to
WM: Angle vs. UnderTaker.
Of course, that kinda sets up for Taker winning, and who wants that.
Booker T vs. JBL will probably be saved for Armageddon. A one-on-one World Title Match will probably be saved for New Year's Revolution. Each brand has another PPV between this and the Royal Rumble, so why would they blow their money matches? People will buy the dual-brand cards based on both brands being involved.

Unfortunately, I doubt that you are the demographic that WWE is catering to.
But hey what do I know. As of tonight's taping, pencil in:
Booker T vs. John Layfield for the WWE Title Undertaker vs. Heidenreich Eddie Guerrero, Big Show, Rob Van Dam, and Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak, and possibly a Dudley in an elimination match
Raw set up Orton/Jericho/Benoit/Maven against Evolution and a fourth (Edge?) but they could break off into separate programs. They also started stuff with Benjamin and Christian for the IC title and Lita and Trish for the women's title.
So far it doesn't look as good as last year's card, but we'll see where they go on Raw.
I like the Smackdown style elimination match, but I wonder why they don't just add one more guy to the face team and allow Bubba and D-Von to be on Angle's team ... maybe they'll eventually go there.
This is what I'm guessing -- and hardly any original thinking here, just based on where they're headed right now:
Triple H, Ric Flair, Batista and Edge vs. Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit and Maven
Booker T vs. John Bradshaw Layfield
Kurt Angle, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak and Spike Dudley vs. Eddie Guerrero, Big Show, Rob Van Dam, and Rey Mysterio
Shelton Benjamin vs. Christian
The Undertaker vs. Heidenreich
Lita vs. Trish Stratus
Throw in there, possibly Haas and Rico vs. Kenzo and Dupree, and perhaps a three-way dance for the Raw tag team titles (assuming the belts are vacated by Edge and Benoit) perhaps between La Resistance, Rosey/Hurricane and Rhyno/Tajiri, and you've got a pretty stacked card.
Mayven: "I wonder why they don't just add one more guy to the face team and allow Bubba and D-Von to be on Angle's team"
Yeah really. I might guess that it's because they already have the Raw faces and Evolution & Edge teams in mind and want both matches to have teams of four for consistency's sake.
Survivor Series: Triple H, Ric Flair, Batista & Edge vs. Randy Orton, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho & Maven WWE Championship: John Layfield [c] vs. Booker T Survivor Series: Eddie Guerrero, The Big Show, Rob Van Dam & Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle, Mark Jindrak, Luther Reigns & Spike Dudley Intercontinental Championship: Shelton Benjamin [c] vs. Christian Chavo Guerrero vs. Billy Kidman The Undertaker vs. Heidenreich World Tag Championship: Chris Benoit [c] vs. La Resistance Survivor Series Bra & Panties Match: Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Gail Kim & Jazz vs. Lita, Victoria, Nidia & Stacy Keibler
They're saving HHH/Orton for WrestleMania, so why not save Trish/Lita for then? They'll do a big clusterfuck to save time and give us T&A, and Benoit does doubleduty because Bischoff hates him.
Originally posted by JustinShapiroAnd hopefully Chavo/Kidman.

If that's the case, add Shelton Benjamin to the face team & Christian to the heel team ... save the IC title match for another day.
Elimination Match Triple H, Ric Flair, Batista, & Edge v. Randy Orton, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, & Maven (Maven?)
Inercontinental Title Match Shelton Benjamin v. Christian
WWE Women's Title Match Trish Stratus v. Lita
SmackDown--
WWE Title Match John Bradshaw Layfield v. Booker T
Elimination Match Eddie Guerrero, Big Show, Rey Mysterio, & Rob Van Dam v. Kurt Angle, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak & ??? (either one of the Dudleys (Spike or Bubba, because who cares about D-Von?) or Carlito Caribbean Cool)
Undertaker v. John Heidenreich
Chavo Guerrero v. Billy Kidman
That's a hard card to predict, because so many people have the potential to be left off. If one of the Dudleyz is in the elimination match, then what do they do with Carlito? And vice-versa? They could do Gene Snitsky v. William Regal, but that'd be filler. What about the tag-titles? The card I have up is 7 matches, and that's probably the limit with the elimination matches taking up some time.
Oh well, I could be way off. The show is still 2-and-a-half weeks away. And it today's wrestling, who knows what'll happen between now and then? Maybe Josh Matthews will be the 4th guy on the heel team?

Never 'Wiener of the Day', and is actually quite bitter about it.
I could see them turning one of those two flat SD matches into another elimination match. Now I'D take UT/HeiDenReich and add three partners to each side (Rene, Kenzo and Carlito for the heels, Haas, Rico and-ooh err-Tazz defending Cole's honor for the faces?), just to paper over the serious cracks in Heidenreich's skillz, but odds are the cruiser match will get expanded. Chavo, Paul London, Rico & Haas for the good guys, Kidman, Carlito, Kenzo and Rene one the dark side. Simple and fun.
Once upon a time in China, some believe, around the year one double-ought three, head priest of the White Lotus Clan, Pai Mei was walking down the road, contemplating whatever it is that a man of Pai Mei's infinite power contemplates - which is another way of saying "who knows" - when a Shaolin monk appeared, traveling in the opposite direction. As the monk and the priest crossed paths, Pai Mei, in a practically unfathomable display of generosity, gave the monk the slightest of nods. The nod was not returned. Now was it the intention of the Shaolin monk to insult Pai Mei or did he just fail to see the generous social gesture? The motives of the monk remain unknown. What is known, are the consequences. The next morning Pai Mei appeared at the Shaolin Temple and demanded of the Temple's head abbot that he offer Pai Mei his neck to repay the insult. The Abbot at first tried to console Pai Mei, only to find Pai Mei was inconsolable. So began the massacre of the Shaolin Temple and all 60 of the monks inside at the fists of the White Lotus. And so began the legend of Pai Mei's five point palm exploding heart technique.

Well, it doesn't look like they'll do one for this PPV. Don't worry though; They'll bring it back eventually. They aren't about to spend however much money they did on building the thing (don't remember the exact figure, but it was HELLA' lot) just to use it twice. They probably just want to use it limitedley so as not to burn the fans out on it.
Personally, I'd like to see another one soon as well. I thought the first one was good, but it dragged. They then fixed the dragging problem by switching the intervals from 5 minutes to 3 minutes. However, the second one didn't have the workrate, replacing Rob Van Dam and Booker T with Goldberg and Kevin Nash. I'd like to see one really great Elimination Chamber match, because the potential is most definitley there. However, I think we'll have to wait for it.
