I saw it with my girlfriend Saturday. Not being much into politics she believed that the worst drubbing was delivered to Susan Sarandon, who gets told something along the lines she's bitter because she's getting old and isn't attractive anymore.

Hey look, another Team America review

Great review Mike. I'm actually a little despondent over the fact that I didn't get the oppurtunity to review it for the publication I write for...due to some mishap .

As previously mentioned, here (salon.com) is the interview with Parker and Stone from salon. Be forewarned, you'll have to be a subscriber or watch a short ad for salon to read the whole thing.

It won't be mistaken for high class humor, but man was that movie hilarious. The vomit scene probably made me laugh harder than I have in quite some time at the movies.
I'd also agree with an earlier post that Matt Damon gets it pretty rough here, but if you stick around through the end of the credits you hear another song that isn't in the movie that slams Alec Baldwin pretty badly, too.

I got into giggling fits during every Matt Damon bit.

At least he doesn't get a song dedicated to him like Ben does.

And what action movies HAS Helen Hunt done?

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

I caught it last night, and I am STILL laughing this morning. It is honestly one of the funniest films I have ever seen, ranking just behind the original Naked Gun for me.

What's more impressive is the actual soundtrack (I MUST get this CD. Every last song was laugh out loud, piss yourself, funny.

There aren't too many movies I'll consider going to the theater to see numerous times over, but this is certainly one of them.

The good news is there will be a soundtrack, the bad news is it will not be available until November 2nd according to Amazon.

Pearl Harbor sucked, and I liked this movie.

Missed in all the political satire, I think, is the way they satirized the entire film industry, after a fashion. The entire movie was rife with cliche. Perhaps not there to make any larger point, but it made me laugh nonetheless.

And let me tell you about Gary...

Does anyone happen to know what happened to Team America's soundtrack appearing on iTunes? It was supposed to happen Tuesday.. and it didn't. Did anyone hear any reason why? I don't want to have to wait until Nov. 2 to get my America(Fuck Yeah) :(

Finally got around to seeing it. The soundtrack is one of the best I've heard in a long time (especially the bashing of Pearl Harbor and Ben Affleck). I loved Kim Jong-Il, which is mostly since I have a soft spot for the other time that voice was used.

"Damn Mongorians! Tear down my shitty wall!"

Oh yeah, and I don't know how many people I must have annoyed by constantly saying "MATT DAMON!!!"

Close, but he's saying "Goddamn, Mongolians! You tear down my City Wall last time!"

They vowed not to use shit anymore after "It Hits the Fan", season 5, ep 2, and the Mongolians were in "Child Abduction Is Not Funny," season 6, ep 11.

It's called a "greatly exaggerated accent."

Roger Ebert has jumped the shark.

His review of Team America basically comes off as him being angry that left-wingers were satirized AT ALL.

He needs to get back to just reviewing the damn movies again and not sneaking in politics...

The soundtrack is on iTunes now. If you are on the fence about seeing this movie, just listen to the 30 second preview of America, F**k Yeah and tell me that you don't want to go see it.

I thought his review was about how Trey and Matt copped out on a message in the movie. They made fun of everybody without making a point at all.

Look at the review:

I wasn't offended by the movie's content so much as by its nihilism. At a time when the world is in crisis and the country faces an important election, the response of Parker, Stone and company is to sneer at both sides -- indeed, at anyone who takes the current world situation seriously. They may be right that some of us are puppets, but they're wrong that all of us are fools, and dead wrong that it doesn't matter.

He's sneaking politics into the movie review because the movie is about politics. You could say it's also a satire of Hollywood cliches, but I think it's mainly about politics and what's going on today.

I kind of agree with him on some of his points. The whole "rebel" personas that Trey and Matt are putting on now are getting old. They believe in nothing [/Lebowski]! Yeah, we get it, already. And everybody in Hollywood and the world should shut up. Except for them, because they're Hollywood "outsiders".

I'm sure if he (Ebert) found it to be funny, none of it would matter, though.

I feel you. Being iconoclastic doesn't automatically equal genius. Meanwhile, they're almost as nauseatingly self-righteous as some of their targets.

Tremendously funny soundtrack though.
