I picked it up. I'm not very into it yet, but it looks good. The missions so far are pedestrian, getting you used to things like drive bys, motorcycles, food, clothes, and training.
IGN game it a ridiculous 9.9, so I'm hoping it lives up to that billing!

However, I will use the GTA:Advance that I'm getting as a time-waster when she naps. ;)
I have a three year old that loves playing "Bang" (That's what he calls GTA3 or Vice City. It's cute.) It is truly and utterly amazing to watch this kid pick up how to shoot and jack cars. He does seem to have an unnatural obsession about killing cops. Oh well!! This tells me three things.
1) I may be a bad parent for subjecting him to this but right now he has the hand eye coordination of a freaking jet pilot. I am a good parent really. He knows the difference between a game and "real life."
2) He will kill me in my sleep sooner than I think. That's a joke.
Opie and Anthony made it in... as radio station callers, not hosts.
Me, I'm still glowing over the fact that George Clinton is the DJ on the funk station (the Funktipus).

I'm gonna take them up on their offer, as I there are many older titles I missed out on. I hope Spider-Man 2, or TH:UG1 is on that list.
Silly man Spider-Man 2 is still "new" and NOT on Sony's Greatest hits list. Maybe after the holidays, why change price now when you can still charge $40-$50 and get it.
Keep in mind if a game is NOT on this list, and it's priced at $19.99 it doesnt make it a greatest hits title. Easy thing to look for is the red colored top that says "Greatest Hits" on the game cover, but if a game goes on to the greatest hits list before the regular version sells out then the red won't be there. But just go by the list.

I think Wil also has a more prominent role in the news program.
I haven't stayed in any car long enough to really get into the radio yet. Rockstar needs to code in Sony Walkmen for listening on bikes and on foot!

The game itself: Awesome. I'm having a blast, though I can't get into the usic except for KDST and the talk stations. I'm sure one or two others will grow on me. I did have a blast doing a driveby while listening to Willie Nelson's "Crazy", though....
I'm TOTALLY SICK of getting shot at by the rival gang every time I go out for pizza though. Leave me and my pepperoni in PEACE biatches.
Tonight I wanna ruin my life, I wanna throw it all away, In a spectacular way
The language is blowing my mind on this game. Since no one has mentioned it, other games must've broken this ground before, but since I'm usually playing things with the bright happy characters of Nintendo, I was caught off guard the first time that guy who looks like Easy E called me a "motherfucker". Very cool.

"It's not a matter of whether the war is not real, or if it is. Victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. This new version is the past and no different past can ever have existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Eurasia or East Asia but to keep the very structure of society intact." ---George Orwell, 1984
On the gamefaqs.com board for the game, everyone and his mother is complaining that the language is too harsh for their little bro and/or themselves.
Gee...wonder why it got a M rating. Sigh. What pisses me off is the trolls there that are complaing "It's ONLY got 35 hours of gameplay, what a ripoff!"
I have been doing the taxi, police, fire, and ambulance missions. The fire was WAY easy. Hit level 12 and you're fireproof for life. I Think I've done 4 missions? I'm having way too much fun free-roaming. Just like in VC and III.
The storyline supposedly has 60+ hours of gameplay, and the side missions add even more. Imagine having to work at EB or Gamestop this week. You'd have to beat off the 12 year olds with a stick (I think both companies have a Mature game policy).
As of yesterday, the one FAQ on GameFAQS.com had a "get a parent or college aged student to buy this game for you" disclaimer in it.
Vice City was released exclusivly to the PS2 on 10/27/02. It became non-exclusve and was released on the X-box on 10/31/03 in a double pack with GTA3, released on the PS2 on 10/22/01.
IF it comes on the X-box, expect it in about 360 days or so.
And now, for a limited time only, it rhymes with "door hinge!"
I disagree. I was reading an article about Take 2 Interactive, and it was saying that GTA:SA was pretty much their entire fiscal 2004, and that they didn't have much in reserve gameswise for next year. Knowing that, they will probably take the revenue that they can if they need to. I personally expect to see the game on X-box and PC within 6 months - long enough to wring the sales out of the PS2 side, but probably not as a 2005 Holiday release. I'm thinking summer 2005. You can tell me I'm wrong in 8 months though

On Oct 25th, Banc of America Securities analyst Gary Cooper downgraded Take-Two from a "buy" to "neutral."
Originally posted by gamespot news Reportedly, he downgraded the stock based on the lack of any significant product releases in the company’s pipeline. "Beyond GTA, there remains no other blockbuster releases in Take-Two's lineup," said Cooper. "We have only moderate expectations for Rockstar's releases after San Andreas."
A survey of analysts by First Call/Thomson Financial sees 19 analysts covering the stock, with 10 analysts rating the stock "hold," five a "buy," and four a "strong buy." The consensus isn't awful, but it isn't stellar, either.
That gives me the impression that there will be no other GTA releases for fiscal 2005. Maybe the X-box/PC won't get it?
Close Combat: First to Fight; PS2, X-box Dora the Explorer: Super Star Adventures; GBA Duke Nukem Forever; PC Grand Theft Auto Advance; GBA Kids Next Door: Operation S.O.D.A.; GBA Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition; PS2, X-box Outlaw Golf 2; PS2 Scaler; NGC The Warriors; PS2
The only hits I see there are Duke and maybe MC3. I can see why BoA is nervous about Take 2.
And now, for a limited time only, it rhymes with "door hinge!"

Now Sony's pretty much got to make PlayStation 3 backward-compatible, or risk some PS2 players moving over to the X-Box side. Particularly since a lot of the old PS2s are ceasing to work properly.
