All I can say is "Thank the good Lord that Leskanic never got into the game."
These games are killing me to get through, and I'm on the WEST coast. I'd be curious to see a productivity meter on the northeast for the last couple of days.

My productivity is at Zero - slightly above the norm
3 Games at Fenway
15 hours 11 minutes 35 innings 35 pitchers used 1,298 pitches thrown 82 hits 46 runs 70 runners left on base
and the possibility of a rain delay tonight......

Hell, I'll join them. I'm too emotionally wrecked to have another possible two nights of this.
Note to Yankee pitchers: Someone please put Ortiz on the groud once. Pedro did it to Matsui and I didn't have a problem with it. Speaking of Pedro, did anyone not think A-Rod was getting plunked after Jeter's triple?
The Surgeon General should issue a warning against watching six consecutive hours of baseball. Wow.
The players must really be feeling it by now. Well, you can sleep when it's over I guess.
BTW - Cheers to whoever started the tradition of throwing home runs balls from the visitors back on the field. I just loved watching Damon chuck the ball out of the park only to have it come back again! A-Rod's FOUL balls were coming back on the field last night.
Hey Fox, Do you really need to show us a close up of EVERY FAN IN THE PARK? Some fans got on camera more than some of the players did.

At this point, both teams should just agree to do a Bull Durham on the sprinkler system at Yankee Stadium just in case there isn't enough threat of a rainout.

Why should Damon be taught how to bunt? His Holiness Tim McCarver said he's the best bunter on the Red Sox, or at least Trinidad Hubbard told him that was true. Could someone please just cut Tim's mic, as at least Leiter has a clue of who is on the field. And, the failed bunt is why you swing away when Brass Bonanza is playing.

You can sleep? Last night's game was like one sustained fight-or-flight adrenal response for me. After I turned off the game, I went outside to let the dog out and sit in the cool air, and I realized that I was shaking a bit, still. I can't imagine how a player just "shuts down" that intensity. I mean, if I were Varitek, I'd have gone straight home, laid down in bed, then stayed there, wide-eyed, seeing Wakefield knucklers dip and swerve at me, in the dark, terrified.

Well, I was going to recomend the radio broadcast with the TV on mute, until I tried it and got Joe Morgan talking out his ass again.
Oh man in game four I kept calling for Leskanic because I had this COSMIC feeling he was going to be an integral part of a Red Sox victory, and what do you know! That was weird because I realize he sucks real bad.
Starting Arroyo in game seven is the right call. I had this horrible idea that if worse came to terminally awful, Ramiro Mendoza *could* give them 4-5 innings.
I was actually mad that the game kept going and being all riveting, because the Astros/Cardinals game was incredible and no one is really going to remember it.

Title for Game 7: Brown vs. Board of Education. I've said it in the second game of the regular season before, but this is definately All Hands On Deck. I must be in Bizarro World. The umps overturning TWO calls at Yankee Stadium against the Yankees? Maybe some cosmic payback for the horrid umpiring in '99. Since it will go overlooked, Lieber pitched an impressive game. Even if the Red Sox had blown it, I couldn't blame Francona. And, playing the line-ups out, I kept seeing Tony Clark beat the Red Sox with a homer after he couldn't do anything in '02 in Boston. Great game by Schilling. Wonder if he has an inning in him for Game 7? Ever since it got to 3-1, I keep having this vision. 7-6 or 8-7 going into the bottom of the 9th, and Martinez coming out of the bullpen to attempt to preserve The Curse of Mattingly. In all honesty, I can't figure out how that turns out.

That was a great game and this has turned out to be everything it was expected to be multiplied by about thirty. Just as a fan of baseball, one whose favorite team is continually trounced by both of these two, this has just been a pleasure to watch unfold. Absolutely incredible.
I spent much of the season annoyed by many of the more obnoxious members of Red Sox Nation, and there are plenty of whiny little girls in the group, but the fans at Yankee Stadium tonight gave me a quick reminder of why I hate the Yankees and those fans so much. Alex Rodriguez's arm-slapping nonsense didn't help either.
But Jon Lieber pitched a hell of a good game, he just got outdueled. I don't want to be an unfair Yankee hater, so I'll say that much. And nice catch by Sheffield, and part of the reason I hate Bernie Williams is because I fear him.
So really it's Boston (Lowe & Wakefield) at New York (Brown & Vazquez) for game seven. Should be a hoot. First team to 15 wins.
Can't emphasize this enough. Schilling's outing will go down with all-time greatest clutch performances. Put it alongside Michael Jordan playing through the flu.
Tonight saw one man go from good to legend. Hats off to Curt Schilling.
If Brown goes out tomorrow, then give the advantage to Boston. But if the Curse of the Bambino DOES exist, then watch the Red Sox implode tomorrow in phenominal fashion. Can anyone else picture Bronson Arroyo becoming this year's big scapegoat?
Of course, if the Red Sox DO manage to pull it off, who else thinks both Joe Torre and Brian Cashman will wind up unemployed by Monday?

My girlfriend is from overseas, and so she's never been exposed much to baseball. Over the past two weeks she's become a full-fledged citizen of Red Sox Nation. (I'm a Mets fan, but rooting hard for the Sox, both out of anti-Yankee sentiment and because my brother lives and dies with the Sox.) Now I come home and find her STANDING ON THE COUCH shouting "this is TORTURE" as the Sox play another nailbiter.
Schilling's performance was as close to "heroic" as one can get in the pursuit of winning a sporting event.
One thing that the announcers said tonight really got me thinking. They basically said that A-Rod had nothing to lose by trying to slap the ball away from Arroyo--he was going to be out anyway. Shouldn't wrongdoing carry a penalty? There's always some chance the umps will miss it, so why not try? I'm thinking that in such a case, either the offender should be ejected or the baserunner should also be called out. Or something. Thoughts?

I had the same feeling as you about Clark hitting one out to end the series. Foulke would have made a decent scapegoat and it would have been fitting for the reason you provided as well as the fact that no one expects shit from him. No one expected shit from Boone, Fucking Dent, or anyone else who has played the spoiler to the Sox hopes and dreams.
As far as Pedro goes, I also had that vision. I'm not sure how it'll play out either, but I would like to believe that Schilling's performance tonight inspires Pedro tomorrow and he returns to the form he had several years ago. Not that he's terrible now, but Pedro circa 2000 never calls the Yankees "his daddy". I just hope that his dwarf is in the stadium tomorrow. Maybe he can pitch with the dwarf on his shoulders like Master Blaster.

You two weren't the only one. Sure, Clark had done nothing all game ... but I was scared. Really, really scared. Previous Red Sox history said that should've been the series - either Clark hits one out, or Clark dinks it in and Cairo goes yard. This isn't previous history.
OK, given the ballpark policy, I can understand why that happened. That makes a little more sense... ...but at the same time, I don't see the need for any particular group to be highlighted with a special day.
