From Drudge, via Washington Times reports:

U.S. security officials are investigating a recent intelligence report that a group of 25 Chechen terrorists illegally entered the United States from Mexico over summer... Members of the group, said to be wearing backpacks, secretly traveled to northern Mexico and crossed into a mountainous part of Arizona.

So, does this scare the shit out of anybody else?
Last thing we need are frieking Chechen Rebels taking over a US school, or attacking a public event.

Considering there's no major pro-Russian interests out there that I can think of, you gotta wonder if they might do something like that...especially if they're from the Chechen terrorist group that got help from al-Qaeda years back. Somebody in Homeland Security oughta be going batsh*t over this.

Find these guys pronto, please.

Of course, there are no terrorists crossing the border from Mexico, and it is racist to suggest shutting it down.

We've got a president who wants open borders, and a challenger who wants open borders faster. And a pair of campaigns who won't talk about the Mexican border.

Another big win for the 2 party system...

This has nothing to do with Chechen terrorists crossing into the U.S. from Mexico, but it does relate to Pool-Boy's complaint about the campaigns not talking about immigration (illegal or otherwise). It's Robert Samuelson's column, and he's talking about immigration and its impact on poverty. I agree with Pool-Boy that I wish the parties would discuss immigration. Of course, he and I disagree about the correct policy to follow...but I've digressed from this thread enough already (apologies to the moderators).

The problem with the immigration issue is that fact that neither party has the balls to say anything about it because they are scared that they will drive the "Hispanic Block" to the other side.

The truth of the matter is that we won't have much of a country to worry about unless we can fix the border issues. Between terrorists and illegal immigrants, this is an issue that can rip the country apart...which is why it's the elephant in the room.

Although Bush's tightening of visitation/family support loopholes in the Cuban emargo was not the smartest move in the world as far as the exile community goes. Which, by the way, is looking a lot less than the 80% support for Bush that he got in 2000.

Basically, the tightening states that visitation to Cuba is now once every three years, not per year, and it limits the definition of dependants that can be sent money in Cuba.

It's a little thing, but the Cuban Exile community THRIVES on making little things into big things.

So, while I am a Catholic and can appreciate some of the good work he has done, I can't point out some of the bad?
