According to a new report by the Los Angeles Times, Kobe Bryant told investigators that other NBA players had paid money to women in similar situations like his, and a name he mentioned was Shaquille O'Neal.
O'Neal was informed of the comment last September, about two weeks before Laker training camp opened in Hawaii, when prosecution investigators made an unsuccessful attempt to question him. His agent, Perry Rogers, said Tuesday that the allegation in Bryant's statement was untrue and "undeserving of a response."
"Bryant made a comment to us about what another teammate does in situations like these," Detective Doug Winters wrote. "Bryant stated he should have done what Shaq (Shaquille O'Neal) does. Bryant stated that Shaq would pay his women not to say anything. He stated Shaq has paid up to a million dollars already for situations like this. He stated he, Bryant, treats a woman with respect, therefore they shouldn't say anything."
The reference was first reported by Sports Illustrated, which did not name O'Neal.
EDIT:
Stephen (Screamin') A Smith was just on ESPN and he spoke to Shaq today. He says:
1) Shaq didn't appreciate Kobe dragging his name into this; 2) Shaq thinks it's just another example of how much Kobe doesn't like him and how shady Kobe really is; 3) Shaq despises Kobe even more now; 4) Kobe crossed the line and he'll pay for it with the players in the NBA;
Direct quote from Shaq: "This whole situation is ridiculous. I never hang out with Kobe, I never hung around him. In the 7 or 8 years we were together, we were never together. So how this guy can think he knows anything about me or my business is funny. And one last thing - I'm not the one buying love. He's the one buying love."
Direct quote from Frosty: "W O A H. oh man oh man oh man. *Grimacing* Now you know NBA wives all over the country are harassing their men about this."

I have serious doubts as to whether you will EVER see Kobe try to penetrate drive the lane with a healthy Shaq ready to kill him. He might shoot 20 threes in that Xmas game.

Lets see, Kobe ass rapes a woman, isnt smart enough to make ammends before she leaves, has to pay millions in legal fees, and lost endorsements AND had to buy that big ass ring, yet, instead of being quiet and accepting responsibilities for HIS actions he tries to bring somebody else's ALLEGED actions into a POLICE INTERVIEW?
Kobe Bryant is in Shaquille O'Neal's doghouse and it does not appear that a truce will be offered anytime in the near future. In an expletive-laced response, O'Neal said he apparently is more important to Bryant than Bryant is to him.
"He (messed) up in Colorado doing what he did, and what's the first name that comes out of his mouth? My name," O'Neal said Thursday. "That should tell you I'm important to this cat.
"A lot of people ask me, 'What do you think about him?' This dude's a clown. He's a... clown. You're out there (messing) up and you're saying, 'He did it.' He did what? You don't even know me. I promise you we never hung out. We were never in any clubs together. He never did nothing with the team. I don't even know this kid. But I knew he was a weirdo."O'Neal said Bryant's recent troubles revealed the man behind the image.
"There's fairy-tale life and there's real life," O'Neal said. "He just showed his colors in real life."
O'Neal, who refers to himself as Diesel, at one time considered himself a mentor to Bryant, who entered the NBA directly from high school.
"But he's a... child.... Just like I told (ESPN), he's the only one buying love right now, the (stuff) he has to do to get out of a jam. Diesel don't do that."
O'Neal went on to talk about how much he is looking forward to playing with Dwayne Wade this season and he acknowledges that his dealings with Penny Hardaway and Bryant were often problematic, but vows that in Miami there will be no such strifes.

Fuck Kobe! I hope Shaq breaks his jaw.
From what Steven A Smith said:

...looks like another NBA player might beat Shaq to it.
