According to a report by Honky Tonk Man on his website tonight, he has heard rumors that Kane has given notice to WWE as a result of a contract dispute. HTM is still in touch with a number of wrestlers in the wrestling industry and may have solid info on that.
This comes as a big surprise. Is Honky just blowing smoke, or has anyone heard anything else about this?
I can't think of any reason why this would be true...but, hey, who would have thought two weeks before Wrestlemania that Lesnar would be leaving to try to play football?
The post on the HTM site says:
Rumors have surfaced that Kane has given his notice to WWe. It is not known at this point if the rumors are for real. It seems WWe made a substantial cut in dollar amount on the renewal of Kane's contract. Kane was said not to be happy with the numbers and has given his early release notice. The story is developing and we will have more on this huge turn of events.
That sounds pretty phony to me...like something you'd see on one of those third-rate news sites, but who knows.
Kane's pretty much the only reason I've been watching Raw for a while now (I haven't been watching Smackdown for a long time). If it's true, maybe it's a sign I need to stop watching wrestling and get a life. How sad. :(

BLASPHEMY!!!!
Granted, I refuse to watch Raw these days as it's boring as hell, but as soon as Kane's not the guy who's shagging Lita, or something, because it's really all too stupid for me to care, I'll watch. When he's involved in a more traditional feud he's a lot better.
If this is true, I'm not going to miss Kane since he's nothing more than a glorified, 300 pound jobber that's involved in one of the worst pro-wrestling angles of all time. His unmasking kind of rejuvenated his gimmick a little bit, but WWE did not capitalize on it and just kept Kane as a midcard jobber. He's a decent wrestler for his size, but that's all. Though his world title match at Bad Blood with Benoit was pretty good.

Kane is one of the best big men in the business, but the writers just can't think of anything good for him, so we get this and the Katie Vick angle.
It'll be a shame if he goes, but I won't weep for him.

Seriously, if this is true and Kane is really is leaving, his big "return" tomorrow could be the start of a big Snitsky push. Yikes.
In regards to a comment above...when I think of a "glorified 300 pound jobber," I think of Test, Tomko, Rodney Mack, etc. Kane is capable of being in a main event at any time without the fans wondering what he did to deserve the match. But to each their own I suppose.
Sigh. 50/50 chance this is going to end up being one of those threads that speculates on "why he left" and "where will he go?" for 2-3 pages, and then it turns out HTM was just talking out of his ass in the first place.
I hope it is fake. Kane is the man. He's taken a gimmick that would've killed anyone with less charisma and talent, and he's made it work. And he's pretty much been really over for, oh, the last 7 years, which is pretty amazing too.
If this is a fake, it is a pretty good job by Vince at flushing out locker room sources. Feed someone bad info, see it filter quickly to HTM, and Vince knows who in the company can't keep their mouth shut/can't be trusted. And, if it is true, Glen can always break out the old reliable UniBomber gimmick from SMW.

It would be awesome if the only person he told that to was HHH.
Ya know what I think back to when I heard this? The one PPV where Kane smashed a guitar over HTM's head. I think this was during the "Rockabilly" phase. It was on PPV, I remember that though.
I hope this is all a steaming pile of BS though. Kane leaving would kill RAW. Kane is pure entertainment no matter what he does.

It was at the 2001 Royal Rumble, right after HTM finished singing his theme song. Classic stuff. That was the year he lasted for about an hour, I think.
Kane quits? I hope not! Sure, this Lita angle is crap (as has been mentioned) but that doesnt mean Kane is. Kane can still provide plenty of great matches and moments; and his leaving would only leave room open for more crackheaded gimmicks like Mordecai...
I have to say (though its a little off-topic) that I miss masked Kane. Its like the mask was the source of his power... (Oh well, maybe in some crappy storyline he'll get burned and have to wear a mask again.) I know that his unmasking kind of renewed fan interest in him, but masked Kane was just kick-ass.
