In the Ross report he stated "I am told. I expect to continue to broadcast with Jerry "The King" Lawler on Monday nights, while Michael Cole will be getting a new partner for SmackDown!"
I'll state right now I HATE MICHAEL COLE, I hate his play-by-play style, I hate his fake forced laugh, I hate him saying "this arena hasnt' heard a roar like this since the Lakers won the championship" a month after LA won during the Rocks entrence.
But unfortunatly it looks like Cole is staying, but who should do colour? the only person that I think could save Cole awful announcing is Don Callis. Cyrus reminds me so much of Heyman, and I loved Heymans days as colour guy... But looking at the Smackdown roster Tazz is there, but he really needs to choose wrestler or announcer, this part time stuff doesn't cut it. But I still want Cyrus in there bad.
If I could get my pick, I'd pick Styles and Cyrus, but that might be asking for too much.
So who do you think and who do you want in the Smackdown play by play position
CRZ NOTABLE QUOTABLE OF THE MONTH: UNDERTAKER: The Hell you were threatened with as a child is no longer an option, it is a reality - a living, breathing reality. And you all are right in the middle of it. Yes, Hell has relocated to Earth. CRZ: My friends, *Hell* is watching THIS crap take place before my eyes. -- WWF Raw is War, 1/11/99
Watching Excess tonight, I saw the Hardcore Holly/Al Snow Hardcore Title match from St. Valentines Day Massacre in From The Vault. The match produced this gem from Michael Cole:
"King, Bob Holly is standing around outside, in 30 degree weather without a shirt on!" then, not 3 minutes later, after the two men reached the Mississippi River:
"Bob Holly just fell in the water. He must be freezing! The water must be 40 degrees!"
I'd like to see in no particular order...Foley, *Heel* Mike Tenay, or Heyman (so I can hear GOARGOAR GOAAAR, when Rhyno returns). Then again I'll settle for anyone else with balls enough to tear Cole a new asshole everytime he makes a stupid comment...then again I wouldn't mind the same on RAW for Ross.
I guess I'm the only one who thought that the following paragraph meant one thing...
I really like what I have heard of these significant improvements to our broadcast vehicles other than RAW and SmackDown! Plus, I am going to be interested to see how some of the new faces are going to be introduced over the next few weeks/months to our audience, especially totally new talents. A great deal of thought has to go into how talents who have been here in the past are reintroduced on our broadcasts, also.

Now I hate Michael Cole as much as the next guy, but this actually makes sense. Water, especially running water, takes a long time to adjust to air temperature changes.
But anyway, back to the topic. Both Tazz and Al Snow are on the Smackdown roster, and both have worked with Michael Cole as commentators before. I wonder if they plan on using them in that capacity again. I hope not, but well, it's not my call.
Of course, I would love to have Jesse Ventura back, but I hear he might be busy doing other stuff...

HEENAN!
That would suit me just fine . Damn I miss the Brain ! You know , he could be talking about Cornette also , and that would suit me just fine too !

"Damnit Peggy , here I am trying to contain an outbreak and you're driving the monkey to the airport. " - Hank Hill
a. Vince b. HBK c. Stephanie d. Shane e. Coach f. Al Snow g. Tazz
If any McMahon besides Vince shows up at the commentary table - especially Steph - that will be the last episode of Smackdown! I watch. I'll read recaps until they leave.
I'm not particularly fond of Cole remaining as the play-by-play man - I'd rather that Coach be given a try.
I've never seen Snow on color, nor do I remember HBK on color.
I've never seen Cyrus or any of the ECW commentators, but I'd be willing to give them a try.
That being said, I'd like to see Tazz or Heenan at the color position.
Steph
I'm going twenty-four hours a day...I can't seem to stop - "Turn Up The Radio", Autograph
I doubt it'd be Heenan, what with him battling throat cancer and all. Still, it'd be nice. My money's on someone like Mike Sanders, though. Of course, it will probably end up being Tazz.
I agree with Net Hack, the ideal team would be Styles and Cyrus. Styles is competant, and Cyrus cracks me up.
My guess is that the new commentator will be Steve Corino, if you can take internet rumors with a grain of salt. He was very good on the mic, I think he'd fit pretty well and might even be the guy to put Cole in his place now and again.
I heard the Corino rumer to and i got to say he would be gold for smackdown since hes gold ont he mic. It would be good to have him in cuase it would be something new. Don Callis, now that you got me thinking about him would be wikked to and on par with heyman i belive. He Awsome miker guy, but doesnt he have heat with wwf which is why he left the first time? Anyone know for sure?
Once the match started the giant looked high and low, but he couldnt find Shane.Which Way did GO?
I wouldn't being thinking along the lines of Heyman. I would think more along the lines of Tazz or Al Snow. Which show did D-Lo Brown land on? I heard something about D-Lo getting a try-out as announcer.
Some reason I think Stephanie McMahon is also a realistic possiblity.
I don't think we'll see Heenan, since he didn't want to travel anymore before he got sick. I understand that he did an appearance recently at an indy show, but even if he has a well-deserved speedy recovery, I doubt that he'll want to go on the road. It'd be nice if they'd give him a spot on Excess, though.
Corino is a good possibility, but he's also vehemently denying that any offers were made.
Joey Styles has less chance of being hired than Bret Hart does right now. He's been leading the "sources say" brigade over on 1Bob's premium site, slamming McMahon every chance he gets. He's got years of kissing McMahon's ass ahead of him just to get a job interview now.
I think Callis left the WWF on bad terms a few years back, but he's good, so maybe they'll give him a chance.
I could see them using Tazz in the short term, but not permanently. I like him, but not many other folks seem to.
We might see them move Coach up, although I'd hate that. Nothing against Coach, he's just Gumbelesque in his genericism. Plus he announces every freakin' show the WWF has outside of RAW and Smackdown!.
They moved the new guy (Mike something) into the play-by-play spot on Metal this week. And if that wasn't just for Easter weekend, it could mean that Kevin Kelly will be taking Lawler's place on Smackdown!.
Personally, I wish they'd give the gig to the handbaby.
As for that line about "re-introducing talents that have been here before," I think that was in reference to injured wrestlers who will be coming back soon. There are definitely a few of them within the next 2 or 3 months. Benoit, Rhyno, and Kanyon spring to mind right away.
And for all of you ECW drones, dream as much as you want about Cyrus, Styles, or Corino or whoever else on SmackDown, but it just ain't happening. SmackDown is loaded with the top-tier WWF names, plus it's Vince's show. I REALLY doubt they'd toss out a couple of ECW on the big-name show and just expect the fans to accept them sight-unseen.
Of course, you'd probably have to hand a towel to all the Drones that just creamed their pants if those guys showed up, but to the vast majority of the WWF fanbase, it would be a collective "WTF?"
I've watched a lot of the old ROH DVD's from the 2002-2007 era. The main thing I didn't like about ROH when they got the HDNet show was they went to the typical WWE program model where the TV show is basically an ad for the PPV.
