Anyone else on here pick up this game yet? I got it for the Xbox with the free Scout Trooper figure offer yesterday, and have been very pleased thus far. The concept of being in the midst of huge Star Wars battles is just flat out awesome, the graphics are superb and the maps I've played so far are really cool. The single player doesn't seem to be *as* lacking as some have made it out to be, but obviously it's online where this game shines.
My only complaint has to be that when I've picked "quick match" on Xbox Live I get thrown into lopsided battles 'cause everyone seems to pick the cooler side to play on (ie, clones over battle droids, stormtroopers over rebels, etc). But other than that I've been loving it. At least there are plenty of bots on the field to make things at least look a little more even. The fact that you can just snag any vehicle on the field is really cool, along with the fact that when you respawn each time you can choose from multiple classes of clone troopers or droids or whatever you want to be.
I haven't played the other battle games out there like Battlfield 1942 or whatever, so I can't compare, but for a huge Star Warts geek like me this game is a must buy. I didn't even mind dropping $50 on it (I usually wait a bit till games come down in price before purchasing them unless it's something I've really been waiting for, but the free figure offer swayed me).
With a few hours spent with the game I'd say that the 8.5-9.0 scores the game has been getting seem to be pretty accurate. Anyone else have any thoughts on this yet?

Ok. The commercial makes out that you can shoot Ewoks. If you can do this Lucas can have my 50 bucks. Someone please tell me I can put a baseball size hole through Widget.

You mean Wicket W. Warrick?
You, watching this at home, worship me! I command you! Become my willing sprawls and live eternally! Oh, the sweet sublime feeling of complete obediance to your Evil Master! Come serve me, the Prince of Darkness, I command it! Hear me! Obey me! OBEY ME!

I haven't played the Endor map yet, so I can't answer this for sure, but I would guess yes to shooting Ewoks. On Hoth I gunned down some Taun Tauns, and on Naboo I killed some of those weird things the Gungans ride.
As for who asked if this is worth it without online capabilities- I would have to say yes, but probably not till it drops in price. I played the single player for a while before goign online, and I had a blast with it. I could see it getting old after a while, though, and it doesn't have quite the same feel as playing against others. I'm not sure how many missions are in the single player, and that may have to be taken into consideration also. Anyway, if you're gonna play solely off line I'd wait about six motnhs or so, and it will proably be like $30 at most stores.

I've heard both Ewoks and Gungans can be shot in this game. DIE JAR JAR DIE!
However, of all the battles the ad shows you, I didn't see the one you've GOT to have in a Star Wars game: the freakin' Death Star trench run from Episode IV. Is this classic scenario in there or not?
Star wipe, and...we're out. Thrillin' ain't easy.

Yes, you can kill gungans- in fact, you have to. The first mission in the single player game is to overtake Naboo playing as battle droids. You have to take down their shield which is generated by those giant Fambaas from the movie.
As for the trench run, no it is not in the game. This game is supposed to replicate being a soldier in one of many factions fighting it out on foot on the battlfield to take control of command posts. Vehicles just happen to be there for your usage. Having guys running around on foot on top of the death star might come off as a little awkward. Plenty of other cool stuff to make it a worthwhile purchase, though! Too bad I've been sucking on Xbox Live so far.

Quick question... Is it one of those xbox live games where if you did not get in to it the first few days it came out you will be made fun of, or is it just random mindless fun?
Pre-post note: HAIL SNITSKEY.Played the demo that comes with the SWT DVD set...hated it.
Then again, I can't stand Battlefield 1942, I prefer the deeper, better gameplay of Day of Defeat and the realism of Red Orchestra when it comes to WWII stuff.
If you really love Star Wars and like Battlefield ok though, you'll probably dig it a lot.
I have found this game to be very enjoyable on the PC. I would suggest getting it for this platform, because you just know nerds are going to modify it so you can play as Jedi, Bounty Hunters, Star Destroyers and Jabba the Hutt.
I guess it depends on what you like to play. This game is fairly open and non-linear (though you have specific strategic points to take over, of course) and you can grab a turret, fly an X-Wing, or get into close-quarters combat.
Single player isn't as bad as people have made it out to be. The AI on the PC is actually pretty good and can find ways to corner you and form a basic strategy that you have to deal with. Hunting humans is always preferred, of course. The big problem with the PC version right now is that you have to re-load the list every time you pick a full server. That needs a patch.
The battles are all atmospheric and things like the battle of Hoth really seem like you're there down to the shaking Echo Base hallways as Stormtroopers are infiltrating the base.
I got the PC version too, you should have seen the grin on MY face, when I as a wookie and I ran into Darth Vader and got my ass sliced. I haven't even tried to play online yet. I never do until I master the single player. So when I do come online, I will have some skills. And please someone make a trainer or hack so I can play as Darth Vader. I know there has to be some code. I refuse to play Jedi Academy for my light saber fix.
And a childhood dream of mines was accomplished. While driving a AT-AT a stupid rebel flew his ship trying that old rope the feet shit, I simply stopped walking and when he flew around I blew his ass to pieces. Yes when I was a kid I wanted to be a Empire soldier, screw the Jedi. I wish there was some space missions. Yeah I know there are mad Star Wars games that consist of flying. It would just be bonus. One thing I noticed, it doesn't seem to be an option for Mods. I hope I am wrong since one of the best things about Battlefield are the Mods that are made. Even with all this I will still play the Galactic Conquest Mod for Battlefield from time to time.
