FOOTAGE! of HHH's promo from last week, Orton's rebuttal, and Mjolnir's turn. Featuring Eugene.

Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight, never running from a real fight, because it is time to WAKE UP! ('Cuz I know you took a nap this afternoon.) It's time for Raw, live from Wichita Falls, TX...and a Fashion Report, too! Happy Labor Day or, as you Canadians call it, Monday. The opening is modified.

Bischoff, in grey pinstriped suit and blue shirt, with cane (?) stands inside a steel cage. He books HHH vs. Eugene in a cage match for later tonight. Bisch strips Edge of the IC Title - this brings out Christian!, in black pinstriped shirt (sleeves rolled-up) and grey cargo pants. Christian! demands that he be awarded the IC Title. This brings out Jericho, in black/turquoise "Jericho" shirt and black tights with gold-and-silver silhouttes who demands a match vs. Christian! for the IC Title. Bisch accedes to that request, and books the match at the PPV. Jericho then asks for the crowd to pick a stipulation; make that a ladder match. Jericho then punks-out Christian!, but Tomko makes the save.

Jared's getting pretty large. Maybe it's time for LESS Subway.

Flair, in gold "Nature Boy" robe with sequins, black "RF" undies thereunder, and Batista, in red "Batista" undies with crotch flame, and La Resistance, both in sequined blue vests and white "La Resistance' undies, wearing the Tag Titles and waving Quebec flags, vs. Rhyno, in black "Rhyno" singlet and Tajiri, in black pants with dragon and flaming left hem, and Benoit, in red "4REAL" tights with black slashes, and Regal, in red singlet with blue trim. Chad "I'll Allow It" Patton is the referee, in stripes. The heels retreat to the outside, so AdBreak takes the opportunity to get some screen-time.

Cont. The participants are back in the ring. Conway's blonde hilights just don't work. Benoit sharpshooter->submission by Rob. Average match.

FOOTAGE! of last week's Divacrap.

Smackdown! recap. Eh.

In the back, Todd Grisham, in striped white shirt, interviews Randy Orton, in black suit, white shirt and tie, the Heavyweight Title over his shoulder. Randy cuts a promo on HHH. Randy uses the mighty power of FOOTAGE!

Meanwhile, in the back, Makeup Lady talks to Lita before seguing that into a Lita/Trish conversation. Trish is all bitchy and taunting. Lita leaves, allowing this to segue into Trish/Nidia. Nidia says something about a boat and camels riding snails (I think - my Spanish is...not there...at all) before throwing her Kool-aid at Trish's babydoll shirt.

Trish, in wet white babydoll with black shoulders, and black pants, carrying the Women's Title, vs. Nidia, in siler, bouncy top and short shorts. Mike Chioda is the referee, in stripes. Peurto Rico is such a small place that Nidia is from all of it. Um, some kind of...wardrobe malfunction has Chioda try to help Nidia; Trish takes the opportunity to get a kick and pin. Poor match.

HHH and Bisch meet in the back; HHH promises that Eugene won't leave in one piece. HHH then promises a victory at the PPV, too.

Eugene, in white/red jacket and blue undies, vs. HHH, in black ironcross undies with taped ribs. Jack Doan is the referee inside the cage, and Chad Patton draws outside duty. Eugene is the first to bleed, with what appears to be a pretty deep cut (but it doesn't bleed too much). HHH's offense consists mainly of throwing Eugene into the steel mesh. HHH walks to the open door, but he just closes it and heads back to get himself some more of Eugene. HHH breaks Eugene's arm, then walks out the door. Average match - way too short. Post-match, HHH takes a cheap shot at Eugene's arm.

Hmm - WW is getting into Fantasy Booking games?

Moments ago, a few sentences ago. During the Break, Regal and trainers help Eugene up the ramp.

Presently, Coach, in white shirt and shades, interviews Edge, in black sleeveless shirt and shades. Edge is upset about being stripped (aw, it's not that bad, man; just do a little dance and...oh, nevermind).

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the back, Kane has a discussion with his bride. Kanes shows some FOOTAGE! for his dear. See, they can live a normal life. Watching a video your husband kick the everloving snot out of a man is normal, right? It was on a television.

JR, in black suit, blue shirt and tie, and black hat, and Lawler, in black sportscoat and red tshirt, run-down the PPV card. And here's the new video game. Shill away, boys.

Man, that was a pretty low-content segment.

Jericho, in same, vs. Tomko, in black undies, with Christian!. Mike Chioda is the referee. Christian! flees, but he returns with a ladder. Tomko with some kind of spinning slam->pin. Poor match. Post-match, a truncated heel beatdown ('cuz they've got to add more heat to the matchup and this is their only ottortunity, right?).

Whatever did we do that was so wrong that we must suffer through yet another week with a Diva Search segment? This week's DivaSearch letter: M. Meanwhile, the moppy Muppet-like misfits mope in the midst of Matt Hocking's "My Darling Stacy", in blue shirt and blue-splotched, pleated white skirt. My, my, my - the madams wear dresses, attempting a modicum of manners. Jack Doan goes-over the rules of the armwrestling while Stacy moderates by providing spotty memory-enducing-commentary. Messiness ensues when mashed-up mush masquerading as "chilli" is tossed. Man, I can't believe I manage to recap this shit.

Shelton Benjamin returns soon, as evidenced by his video package.

The announcers pass-on that Eugene's shoulder is so messed-up that his career may be over.

Orton, in orange "Orton" undies with silver hip scrawlings, wearing the World Hevayweight Title, with FOOTAGE! of the sledghammer drop from last week (oh, that is why Bischoff was using the cane!), vs. Kane, in black tights with red barbedwire stripes, with Lita, in black poncho. Earl Hebner is the official, wearing stripes. Kane has a steel chair to clock Randy, but Orton gets DQ'ed by a low blow. Post-match, HHH and Bisch come out and order the cage lowered as a steel cage match. Right now (after AdBreak, that is)!

Cont. Chioda is the referee on the floor. HHH has joined ringside. Kane is in solid control. Randy uses the chair Kane introduced earlier, then kicks his way out the door. Average match. Post-match, Evolution arrives to pound the snot out of Randy, but Randy escapes over the cage. (Which means HHH will win on Sunday, sigh.)

Overall: An okay show, but nothing that would make me want to buy a PPV.

Wow, this RAW almost put me to sleep. Here are my coma-endused thoughts:

-That Diva segment really sucked. Although, I expected Joy to get the boot this week, because its pretty evident its between Carmella and Christy.

-Why is Edge a face again? They dont even mention the E&C connection from last week? I dont get that booking at all. Edge is a heel one week, a face the next. They need to PICK A SIDE.

-Poor Eugene. I guess they are gonna leave him off RAW for a while and make him fresh for a redebut? Whatever. I think they got all the milk out of that cow anyway.

-Ya know what bugs me about Kane? His hair line. Ever notice has the back of his head is shaved different then the front? He cant be going bald already, it just doesnt look right. And his eye was EXTRA lazy tonight. He needs some Queer Eye for the Straight Guy stat!

-Two steel cage matches in one show and they both end via the door escape method? THAT NEVER HAPPENS in cage matches! It almost always won via over the top or pinfall. The win via out the door is only supposed to be for heels, so why did Randy use it?

-Speaking of Randy. This guy is the RAW champ. He is main eventing the next PPV. He is figting Triple H. Yet, when he comes out, the crowd doesnt seem to be behind him at all. I really think they rushed his face turn. The crowd is just not drinking Randy's kool-aid yet.

-But Randy's theme IS growing on me. I need to download it somehow.

-Lastly, Trish was the best part of RAW this week. Considering her match had no buildup this week and wasnt really important, thats not a good thing to saw about RAW.

Things that worked tonight: Kane's wonderfully creepy acting. Orton being such a smug prick and getting away with it. Nidia getting all Jerry Springer, espanol style on Trish and then throwing Kool-Aid in her face. The beginning of an intriguing Edge heel turn. The shot of Orton after he laid out HHH with the "LEGEND KILLER" sign behind him. Regal gets a PPV check! Yay!

What didn't: The Diva match ... good goddess, Nidia is awful. The Diva search, which I can only describe as "DEEP HURTING." Not even ONE MENTION of the fact that Edge and Christian are brothers. The first cage match; Eugene got barely any offense in. I think that match was a huge example of WWE completely misreading audience reaction. The crowd was hugely behind Eugene, especially after HHH broke his shoulder. Instead of a stirring comeback that would have thrown the crowd into a frenzy, we got yet another protracted HHH beatdown. *sigh* Dammit, HHH, and you were doing so well for awhile there.

Everything else was pretty mediocre; a pretty damned poor show if the aim was to get me craving the PPV. After a number of intense and pretty good shows, RAW seems to have sunk back into the swamp of crap. Hopefully this was just one of those "off weeks" and it'll be better next time. Hey, at least the Diva Search is almost over (though I'm sure we'll still have the winner, most likely Carmella, shoved relentlessly down our throats).

Well, I thought this RAW was a serious improvement, although I guess I'm in the minority. Two weeks ago, RAW was embarassing. Last week, it was okay, but not exactly good. This week, I thought that it seemed like they were getting their act together.

Still, SmackDown is rapidly approaching them (in my opinion), and could top them as the better show soon. Again, I'm sure many will disagree with me... Viva JBL~!

Uh, anyway, I thought the Eugene/Hunter storyline was a good way to write Eugene off the show. But, are they writing Eugene off the show? Personally, I feel the time has come that they need to do something with the character, as it's run it's course (already).

I think I've finally become one of the skeptics who suspect this whole diva-contest thing isn't on the up-and-up. It's pretty obvious as they are building to a Christy/Carmella showdown as the finish, as I didn't even know who the other two in the ring were.

Have they stopped the Edge heel-turn. I actually thought Edge was doing a good job of slowly becoming more and more of a dick. Maybe they're just slowing it down a bit. At least, I hope so, because Edge as a face just hasn't been working.

Man, Trish just totally blows Lita away in the acting department, doesn't she? It's like night and day all in the same room.

I was very much into the 8-man tag. However, I must say that I thought Batista was really light in his offense tonight. Has he always been like that, or is it something I just noticed, or what? It just seemed that whenever he did one of those forearms to the back of the head (he did 2 or 3 tonight), they looked super-weak. Also, Ric Flair's selling of punches annoyed me tonight. He doesn't flinch his head at all. Makes the punch look super-weak. These things have never annoyed me before. So, why did I pick up on them so heavily tonight?

Randy's theme song has grown on me as well. Last week, I hated it and longed for the Evolution theme. I enjoyed it this week though.

Kane/Lita still does nothing for me.

It's taking the fans some time to get into Orton as a face. It seemed like when he came out for his match, there was a lot of cheers, but still some smattering of boos. This might take some time.

Well, I'm going to be in the minority again, but I liked tonight's Raw.

They started the show off right with continuity (both Bischoff's cane and Christian/Y2J) and guys who could get the crowd hot.

Eight man tag was about as good as an eight man tag can get. Benoit is still being booked strong.

Trish/Nidia was above average.

HHH/Eugene got the point across, and it set up what would happen later with Orton, which was hinted at with "sneak preview."

Y2J/Tomko- I have to say that Tomko seems to have gotten better. And Christian is gold on the fringe.

Orton/Kane- Perfectly booked. Those who think Orton isn't over must be taking the Scott Keith anti-reality juice. The match was perfect at showing Orton winning over long odds by outsmarting his opposition. Still think Orton will win at Unforgiven despite the traditional booking logic.

I think the Ladder match was a great addition to the PPV. I think it makes it a for sure buy for me. The rest of the card is solid but the Ladder match should make Y2J vs. Christian a potential show stealer.

Nidia is Puerto Rican Now?
Oh well long as she's on TV ( YEAH I like butterfaced women, so sue me)

Poor Rhyno and Tajiri. It's a bad sign when the announcers refer to you as a team that consisted of Viscera, and some Blonde dude named Moe.

Is Lita putting on weight. I have to give her credit for being committed to the angle.

I'm a bit afraid that the crowd seemed to be REALLY into girls getting chili poured on them.

Looks like they really are going to bury Eugene. I don't think he was getting old at all. The crowds didn't seem to think so either. After that squash he may never recover though. With so many wrestlers with legit injuries why in the hell would you take a healthy (and very over) guy off the show? Oh yeah I forgot, it's so I will like Randy Orton. Ain't happening.

It all has to do with the nature of Randy's push. (Which, incidentally, I am absolutely loving - not Randy's push, but the nature of his push.) It's all based on Randy Orton having learned to become the New Cerebral Assassin courtesy Triple H. He knows from having watched Hunter that the door escape is an easier and still effective method than climbing over the top. The disparity in escapes is such a cliched old-school thing that never made sense to me...

BTW... what the hell is Randy's new theme anyway? I wanna download it...

I don't think they'll have to decide now, since I doubt we'll see Edge again until after "Halloween Havoc" (I refuse to call it that other piece of shit name).

Random Raw Thoughts:

-Overall, I thought they did an okay job hyping for Unforgiven. The ladder match really brings the entire card up. If they go one more week without mentioning Edge & Christian...

-God, do I hate Orton's theme.

-Diva segment was absolute crap tonight. The girls didn't even know which side to arm wrestle off of. I'm glad they finally found something to do for Stacy...too bad she had screw up about 15 lines.

-Err...uhh...Was there something wrong with Todd Grisham's microphone? It looked rather deformed.

-Bischoff's cane is classic.

-Thumbs Down: Benoit doing nothing since Summerslam.
-Thumbs Up: Hopefully picking up a copy of Day of Reckoning tommorow.

I was actually interested in the story they started off telling with the first cage match -- Eugene is so freaked at being in a cage he goes berserk. Unfortunately, that story got quickly jettisoned for another iteration of Triple H Is Evil Because He Beats Up That Poor Defenseless Tard.

Nidia can do a decent Northern Lights suplex. Other than that, though...

I didn't really care about the apparent abandonment of the Edge heel turn because, c'mon, he's going to be off the show for a month or two. If he turns now, who'll care when he comes back?

I dunno. Joy doesnt do it for me. She seems to plain. Christy has a wildness to her and that makes her stand out a bit more. I would be shocked if Carmella didnt win though. I would love to see the real poll results each week. I wonder how much of it they have to change to get the results to the way like want them to be.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing they kept it going to make the "Night of the Unmasking" more believable. Walking around with the large hair he had that night would look pretty bad outside of his WWE job.

I agree, heel Trish has been surprisingly magnificent. So does the 30 days title defense rule not relate to Trish's three month absence? Speaking of the Women's title, since when did they start putting nameplates on it? I thought nameplates were just supposed to be an "honor" for the World/WWE title...They'd probably put one on the Hardcore title if it returned.

You've got three good matches for the PPV -- the title match, the Kane/HBK match and now the IC match. Not bad.

I'm disappointed that Eugene is getting buried. I understand it -- HHH needed to look strong heading into the weekend and there's not a lot of room for growth with his gimmack. And it was nice to see someone reject the quick win, only to go back and deliver more punishment and still win, as opposed to making him look like a fool for not winning when he had a chance. But I think Eugene is good for the show, and he shouldn't be cast aside if he's not legitimately injured.

I wish they would have built toward Victoria/Trish instead of throwing Nidia in there. Speaking of which, I thought Nidia was from West Virginia or Kentucky or wherever Jamie Noble is from?

Hehe. Last week people were pointing out how Eugene "beat" HHH, even though it was a meaningless win since Eugene couldn't even win the match. I tried to point out how the Eugene character in many ways has become like Zach Gowen and run its course. Well this week my theory was proved even further in that HHH totally squashed and buried Eugene tonight. Even though his opponent had taped ribs, Eugene was no match for HHH and was thoroughly taken apart in less than 8 minutes by the game. In many ways it was kind of similar to the beating former WWE champ, Brock Lesnar gave to Zach Gowen on Smackdown!

So needless to say, it looks like WWE is putting Eugene away for a while.

Fairly flat show tonight. I liked seeing Benoit go over strong in the 8 man tag, but the storyline he's in right now is pretty boring and lame. Plus having to wrestle in a meaningless tag team match on PPV.

Hm, is it such a good idea for Christian to be wrestling in his FIRST match back after he's been on the shelf for four months in a ladder match? I mean especially after hurting his back in a cage match. Still could be a good match on what looks like a pretty underwhelming PPV card.

You know, I'm really not digging this title run with Randy Orton, and yes I think the face turn was premature. If they wanted to turn Orton into a face they should've done it right after he loses the world title or near the end of his reign (ie Brock Lesnar's first reign) then make him the face challenger trying to regain the title. I also find it odd that WWE would book HHH/Orton so early into their break-up and Orton's title reign. I mean this is clearly a big feud and one you would want to have a huge build-up for to culminate in a huge match on a PPV like Wrestlemania...or Survivor Series at the earliest. It just seems odd that its HHH/Orton this Sunday that's all.

Cage match tonight with Kane and Orton was decent, but Kane's still a jobber. C'mon, who do you think is gonna win the HBK/Kane match this Sunday? Its definitely not going to be Kane, unless they give it some sort of stupid non-finish to prolong the feud.

Couple quickbits:

-Orton is growing on me....dammit to hell.
-I actually enjoyed having the CLB back, and keeping him from Trish is a good thing.
-Please decide what you're gonna do with Edge, I'd like to know, everyone would like to know, and I bet Edge would like to know.
-Tajiri's spot after the failed Sunset Flip was awesome, probably my favorite spot of the night, I replayed it 3 times with Tivo.
-Kane really should never ever speak...ever.
-Nidia is Puerto Rican now, and hotter than last week! Aye Caramba!
