Current WWE Unforgiven Card & Rumored Matches Filed under: News- Larry Jackson @ 11:31 pm EDT The following matches are confirmed for the RAW-brand only PPV, WWE Unforgiven:
World Title Match Randy Orton vs. Triple H
William Regal & Chris Benoit vs. Ric Flair & Batista
Kane vs. Shawn Michaels
Rumored Matches:
World Tag-Team Title Match La Resistance vs. Tajiri & Rhyno
Women’s Title Match Trish Stratus vs. Victoria
Chris Jericho vs. Christian
I think it looks to be a pretty strong PPV. I wish Edge vs. Jericho continued but no one can complain about Christian vs. Jericho. They have chemistry and history. I wonder where Eugene will figure into this? With his win over HHH he'll have to have a match I would think.
Well, everything but Jericho/Christian has been confirmed. Tajiri/Rhyno was the first match scheduled for Unforgiven. Trish vs. Victoria was announced during the tag match this week on Raw.
As of right now, here are my picks
World Title Match Randy Orton vs. Triple H
- Orton via Evolution interference. Evolution turns on HHH.
William Regal & Chris Benoit vs. Ric Flair & Batista
- Benoit and Regal, because the faces will need a win. Eugene will be at ringside and help with the win.
Kane vs. Shawn Michaels
- HBK, because Shawn won't lay down for any man who isn't HHH's friend. HBK wins via Lita interference.
World Tag-Team Title Match La Resistance vs. Tajiri & Rhyno
-Tagiri and Rhyno, because they have matching tights plus they got a big rub helping Rock out. The tag division needs help and these two could go an ECW right with it.
Women’s Title Match Trish Stratus vs. Victoria
-Victoria after Mystery Stevie comes in and takes out Tomko. I do think its a toss up since heel Trish is much more interesting than any of the female characters right now, but the storyline has been building for Stevie's return.
Chris Jericho vs. Christian
-Christian thanks to Edge. E&C reunion, baby.
Its an ok card on paper, but executed correctly, it should blow Summerslam away.
You heard it here first - since Eugene beat HHH, he'll be added into the Randy Orton/HHH match for a 3 way dance, so HHH doesn't have to lay down for Randy.
Looks like a pretty good card for a brand only PPV. I think they're going to tease the Edge/Christian stuff for awhile so I could see a Three Way if Edge can go.
Also, SHELTON BENJAMIN is back on the road and doing dark matches so I would expect him to be involved somewhere. Perhaps as an ally to Chris Jericho? Get him right back in the IC Title picture.
Maybe throw Val Venis a bone for all his good work recently on Heat?
You know they'll probably put something DivaSearch related in there because they'll be down to the final 3, I think.

I don't get the logic here. Are you turning Orton back to a heel? Is that such a wise idea, seeing as he seems to be getting over as a face? Otherwise, Evo turning face against lone heel HHH doesn't make sense.
I would say Orton loses via Evolution interference and Triple H ducks him until WrestleMania. Orton can "Legend Kill" Ric Flair, have an extended feud with Batista, and whoever becomes the new member of Evolution.

I'd hold off on doing this until Taboo Tuesday, or maybe a Survivor Series elimination chamber. Evolution interference couldn't get the title off Benoit for five months, but they get it off Orton the first time out? Makes him look like a bit of a puss, no? Other than that, that's more or less how I'd plan it out.
I dunno, I kinda like Fan's suggested double-turn scenario. Huner would definitely get cheered in such a situation, and it flips the coin on Orton's heart. Suddenly he's a cool heel again, and they could hold off on turning him til after WrestleMania so that the fans are literally begging for it to happen. It's the '98 Rock principle.
Once upon a time in China, some believe, around the year one double-ought three, head priest of the White Lotus Clan, Pai Mei was walking down the road, contemplating whatever it is that a man of Pai Mei's infinite power contemplates - which is another way of saying "who knows" - when a Shaolin monk appeared, traveling in the opposite direction. As the monk and the priest crossed paths, Pai Mei, in a practically unfathomable display of generosity, gave the monk the slightest of nods. The nod was not returned. Now was it the intention of the Shaolin monk to insult Pai Mei or did he just fail to see the generous social gesture? The motives of the monk remain unknown. What is known, are the consequences. The next morning Pai Mei appeared at the Shaolin Temple and demanded of the Temple's head abbot that he offer Pai Mei his neck to repay the insult. The Abbot at first tried to console Pai Mei, only to find Pai Mei was inconsolable. So began the massacre of the Shaolin Temple and all 60 of the monks inside at the fists of the White Lotus. And so began the legend of Pai Mei's five point palm exploding heart technique.
I absolutely expect Evolution to turn on HHH and rejoin with Randy at the PPV. Orton's face turn smells like the Rock's psuedo-face run before he turned Corporate at Survivor Series a few years back. Give him a test run, see if he can get a few cheers, but the ultimate plan is to cement his heel status. HHH's promo on Monday definitely set the stage, too, with him taking all the credit for Evolution and Randy offering a solid rebuttal that could easily convince Flair and Batista to change sides. I could also see Flair staying with Triple H and just Batista going over to Orton, with Shelton Benjamin maybe becoming a new Evolution member. After he retains, HHH finds he doesn't have any friends anymore, Bischoff denies him a title shot based on how many times he's choked this year on the big stage, and face Trips has to earn his way back into the title scene by Wrestlemania. He could do that by winning the Rumble, but I really think this is going to be Cena's year to win the Rumble and take the title from JBL at Wrestlemania (rumors about Taker/Angle pencilled in notwithstanding).
I desperately want to see the return of E&C, just because I was a huge mark for them. I think Christian's been more successful as a single than Edge, titles notwithstanding. It should be more of an alliance than a full time tag team, maybe even making a complete stable with Trish & Tomko rounding out the group.
I think Tajiri/Rhyno will definitely go over.
Benoit/Regal vs. Flair/Batista will be a fun match at the least, even if it means nothing. I'm not sure what to do with Eugene, especially now that he seems to be getting a mixed reaction.
Trish will retain over Victoria, I imagine.
Kane will probably best HBK the first time out, just to extend the feud and let Shawn go over in a match that actually means something. The only long term interesting thing I can see out of it is that, if Shawn eventually finds a way to free Lita from Kane, a heel Matt Hardy could return, accuse Shawn of stealing his thunder, and Matt could get a nice feud to elevate himself properly without having to look like a schmuck who lets his girlfriend bang monsters and get away with it.
If there are any other matches, um...I've forgotten them and don't really care.

I'm glad everyone likes my idea. The opening promo on Raw, pretty much showed where they were going. If you look at the match, Flair and Batista never entered the ring or even bothered to find a strategy to get HHH out of the ring. It makes sense, so they probably won't do it.
Cena should get the Rumble win since HHH already won it and Cena's title win is a bigger deal then HHH's seventh or Orton's second. Orton is getting cheers, but I think it will be a town to town deal. They did a great job with him on Monday, but he still came off too much of a dick for me. I think its risky pushing him as a face since as a heel he got heat. Putting the title on him has been a good storyline, but I don't see this being a seven month story arc.

You could also note how it took forever for them to get in the ring after Orton spit in Hunter's face two weeks ago, even though they were both at ringside presumably watching what was going on and there was nobody there to stop them. I don't think it's gonna work out that way, though, I think Orton needs to stay the face and chase the title. HHH doesn't work as a face at all.
I dont ever want to see a face Triple H ever again. The IWC and a lot of other people are just sick and tired of him and I dont see him being able to capture the crowd as a face. He is much better as the guy who you love to hate, but would hate to love.
I think the better way to have gone was drag Randy's face turn for a few more months, possible til Survivors Series or the Rumble.
The more and more I think about it ... the Evolution turn makes some sense ... maybe that's why they hotshotted the whole thing ... plus with the recent trademarking of the name "The Establishment" by WWE, makes me wonder if we're not gonna get a stable of Triple H & HBK under that name.

Only six matches? Seems a little light, even assuming Orton/Trips goes 30-40 minutes. But there doesn't seem to be anything they can add at the last minute without dipping into the Heat fodder pool. Maybe some Divasearch crap for a time-killer?
*World Title Match -Orton vs. HHH-- MY PICK: TRIPLE H-- I was going with Orton until this past Raw. With the very exaggerated Bischoff in HHH pocket I can see a couple of non-title switches finishes and Bischoff coming out saying NO NO NO this match must continue under thes stipulations until HHH wins.
Regal/Benoit vs. Flair/Batista-- MY PICK: RIC FLAIR & BATISTA-- Pick the established team. Plus set up Benoit vs. Batista is easier with the heels win.
-Kane vs. Shawn Michaels-- MY PICK: SHAWN MICHAELS-- Kane loses as Lita is a part of his loss. Of course the cool thing would be Lita turning heel and turning on the same man she signed on to wrestle Kane. But ain't happening.
*World Tag-Team Title Match -La Resistance vs. Tajiri/Rhyno-- MY PICK: TAJIRI & RHYNO-- It seems like a set up win for them up until Tajiri got injured, but he looks like he's back to decent shape on Raw so I'll go with them.
*Women’s Title Match -Stratus vs. Victoria-- MY PICK: TRISH STRATUS-- Poor Victoria, as babyface champ she didn't really get a fair shake(pardon the pun) one of the reasons is when she teamed with fellow face Lita they really booked it for Lita to look like the star & important. Now she's the babyface challenger for the PPV, the heel champ is spending 95% of her focus on Lita. It's unfortunate as Trish/Victoria feud 1 was so good, I think reverse roles feud 2 could have been good as well if they remembered who was Trish's wrestling challenger. I hope they deliever a good inspired match.
*Ic Title Match -Jericho vs. Christian-- MY PICK: CHRIS JERICHO-- Total toss up, so much so my deciding factor was that my picks so far had one more heel winning than face so I went with the face here. I have no idea where Edge's direction is going (which might be good). Jericho might win with Edge saying he never beats him makes more sense, I think.
6 matches, strange I can't think of another match to be added. Even Mr. PPV bonus Jonathan Coachman doesn't seem to have anything that can throw him in there, unless he's going to wrestle Stacy for taking his spot on the diva search hosting duties. They are going to have a PPV match aren't they lol... This PPV is actually pretty solid for a brand only, it has potential to be as good or better than Summerslam. Not a bad little line up.
smark/net attack wienerville advisory is raised to ORANGE alert - High (Benoit lost the title to some punk kid named Orton, lets look at the positive at least it's a heel not named HHH who has the title, which allows two fresh faces battling for the World title.. whaat? excuse me? what happened on Raw! well scratch that... Over to Smackdown we wave at Justin Bradshaws title reign, I think I'm getting sea sick)- 8/22
