While he's been pushed too hard, he did freshen the program up a bit for a while.
I did not expect for a second that he would beat HHH at Summerslam, but I don't want to see him disappear for good either. I hope they have a plan for him and especially Regal to get some revenge on Evolution.
If Edge turns as a lot of folks think he will, I wouldn't mind seeing Eugene wear the IC belt inside out, or even put him in a program with Christian - they both do well on the mic.
Maybe a tag run with Regal?
Eric Bishoff has not been in a PPV match in a while (or Coach for that matter).
My buddy suggests putting him in a thong and have him pretend he's a late entrant diva contestant.
1) Move him to Smackdown. Some fresh feuds (maybe with JBL?) to liven up the character.
2) Kill him off. Not literally, of course. I think the character has really run it's course as far as being on RAW is concerned. Bring out his brother Nick or something. It was fun while it lasted, but I never really thought of this as a long-term gimmick.

"Fresh feuds"? Ha ha, he hasn't feuded with anybody other than Cripple H and Rob Conway. I'm pretty sure there are a few more peeps on the RAW roster that Eugene can work with...
Thanks to HHH once again coming out on top and killing another good push, I think Eugene should take on Christian or when he turns heel, Edge would be a good choice. Both E+C are good comedy guys and could get a lot of mileage out of Eugene. I am just a little upset, because Eugene has done everything he could have done with the character in three months instead of giving him some more steam to run with. I just think Vince needs to slow down on the quick fix remedy, because its obviously not working with Eugene or Orton as champ.

Yeah, but he was pretty much buried by Triple H at SummerSlam. What's he gonna do, show up on RAW next week like nothing happened? There's gotta be a rhyme and reason for him to return, and with Uncle Eric of course trying to block him from coming back, I just don't see it.

You're a jive soul bro, a jive soul bro And you're always lyin' to you friends You're a jive soul bro, a jive soul bro And you'll never get nothin' in the end
Just shift the focus and start using Eugene as the second banana to Regal for awhile. It would work brilliantly, particularly if they do a Regal/HHH program leading into Unforgiven, which they really should.
Once upon a time in China, some believe, around the year one double-ought three, head priest of the White Lotus Clan, Pai Mei was walking down the road, contemplating whatever it is that a man of Pai Mei's infinite power contemplates - which is another way of saying "who knows" - when a Shaolin monk appeared, traveling in the opposite direction. As the monk and the priest crossed paths, Pai Mei, in a practically unfathomable display of generosity, gave the monk the slightest of nods. The nod was not returned. Now was it the intention of the Shaolin monk to insult Pai Mei or did he just fail to see the generous social gesture? The motives of the monk remain unknown. What is known, are the consequences. The next morning Pai Mei appeared at the Shaolin Temple and demanded of the Temple's head abbot that he offer Pai Mei his neck to repay the insult. The Abbot at first tried to console Pai Mei, only to find Pai Mei was inconsolable. So began the massacre of the Shaolin Temple and all 60 of the monks inside at the fists of the White Lotus. And so began the legend of Pai Mei's five point palm exploding heart technique.
As long as he winds up near the opening match, I'm fine with it. Eugene was fun but like so many of these goofy gimmicks, he got exposed when they forgot that he was just opening match comedy. I'm supposed to take a retard seriously in a feud against the leader of Evolution? Please. It was retarded.
Either have him and Regal tag team or turn him heel and let Nick Dinsmore actually wrestle. He and Regal could have quite the match if Dinsmore was allowed to actually wrestle.
Really where else do you go with Eugene as a face? The character has a shelf life. He's over with the fans so its a good time to turn him. If you wait too long, he might still get good pops but no one will really care. (See Venis, Val).

If he's "just a retard" he shouldn't have won at SummerSlam anyway. I'm digging the idea of his "brother" Nick making an appearance. That would give Nick an automatic purpose to be on the show and he could fued with Chris Benoit (who pretended to be his friend but never really saved Eugene from any beatdowns), Evolution (obvious reasons) and even Kane (just because I like the soon-to-be Mr. Lita). And he could team with Regal (Eugene's only true friend) as thanks for watching out for his lil bro.
As long as there is a single ember on the grill that is justice, we can still cook a mighty steak of victory.
If the Eugene experiment has shown anything, it's that fans want to see more William Regal. He should be plugged into a feud with HHH or a later title shot if HHH wins the gold. Regal has shined through this whole feud.
As for Eugene, I'm not so sure. Part of me thinks that he's gonna get demoted to mid-card purgatory in the interested of "paying his dues." This is where guys like RVD, Edge, Booker and tons of others are relegated, while others like Randy Orton get to bypass it entirely.
My money's on a feud with Christian, so the writers can get all their tasteless retard jokes out of their system. Fans will eventually lose interest in the character and that's when evil genius Eugene will rear his head.
That, or they turn him super-face, with a Bob Ross gimmick, calmly painting mountainscapes and happy little trees during a second-quarter segment.

I bet somehow on RAW this week, Eugene and Christian will somehow end up in the ring together and when Christian starts to beat on him, The Rock will come in (every time they've been in California on Raw lately he has come to it so I think he'll come) and beat on Christian and Eugene now has a feud with Christian.

Look, let's see if we can shoot a hole or two in this one, shall we?
#1 - the push this week is the Lita/Kane/Matt thing and the other sideshow is the Diva challenge. They won't have time for Duane to talk for 20 minutes.
#2 - I'm not sure what Christian's time frame for a return is, but I don't think he's quite ready.
#3 - It just has to involve Regal somehow doesn't it? And what would Regal and Christian! have to say to one another.
SirNorty, when you slap a wag out there, it's not a freaking spoiler. Now if you saw Nick with a fresh new haircut and a shave, that would be a spoiler.
Now, is it ok for me yell THEATRE! in a crowded fire?

They do have history from the Un-Americans and their break-up. The problem with Eugene is they jumped him from feuding with La Resistance and Coach into the World Title/Main Event picture with no middle ground. Thus, rather than a mid-card feud being seen as the natural progression of the character, it will be perceived as burying him. The last time they did something like this was Del Wilkes in '97 when the Patriot just showed up and had PPV matches against the WWF Champion (1 title/1 tag) back to back months. Unless its a guy like Hogan in early '84 who Vince is ready to put the company on his back, an early overpush can really become a detriment.

What happened to the Patriot after his feud with Bret? Did he slip back into a mid-card role? Or did the drama department need the mask back?

Eugene was not supposed to be a "retard" though. I think, in theory, this was a Rain Man type of deal where he has little conventional intelligence but is a wrestling prodigy. And if they'd continued to play it that way, it could have worked.
But, overpushes kill.

Alright man... That'd RULE. I'd seriously call that the best gimmick ever... Even better than Jock Strap Face Boy, and three quarters of Al Snow's gimmicks. "Bah god! Eugene is decimating that canvas with a horse-hair fan brush! WHAT A HOSS!"
They could even do something where he does an impressionistic painting, and he says it's a puppy on a sailboat, but it looks like a big vagina. Then Jim Ross could say to Lawler "Bah god King, you're making a mess on the announce table! Put that damn thing away! WHAT A HOSS!"
