My hatred for Bob Costas goes back to his days calling baseball for NBC. And, I have never seen the interview with VKM, so I cannot even comment on that. He's a smug prick who thinks his opinions really carry weight with Joe Average fan.

Or, invent some kind of machine that would allow you to see whatever was on, while you were away. Man, that would make millions!

Just kidding, I agree, I was telling my girlfriend that I thought back in the day, I could have probably been an alternate for team handball, she had no clue what the sport was. I wished they had more rec leagues for it actually.

How does the Men's Beach Volleyball Team lose to Switzerland ? It's not like there are a lot of beaches in Switzerland.....(at 5am it was Men's Beach Volleyball or Men's Badminton)

Seriously though, Kobel made Nygaard his bitch at net - he was spiking & killing through him all match long - Nygaard gave up a nice "Field Goal" to end the match

I was watching this too. Wish I had flipped around to see the badmitton though, thats ten times as interesting. (unless the ladies are playing in the sand)

Anyhow, I like the interview at the end of the match, she asks the one guy if he is going to play with the other guy he was just with, when normal pro season starts and he says "Wow, I wasnt expecting a question like that" Meaning "Uh, not if I can help it".

I've been enjoying the games as I have caught Olympic Fever. I have noticed all the empty seats. It looks like a WWE TV taping. Maybe thay need to send Basil DeVito over there to show them how to tarp off the upper decks. I know he has a relationship with Dick Ebersol. The Judo on Bravo from Midnight to 1 am has been OK. About 15 minutes a night. And of all the buildings I've seen it looks totally packed.

Monsoon: Ted Arcidi's gonna drop by.

Hey I noticed something I thought was odd last night during the women's gymnastics. The Russians, Romanians, and Chinese women's jackets (and probably everyone else too) country names were in English. Why is it that way? I mean it's nice for me someone who speaks English but there must have been Chinese people thinking,"what the hell is that word on their jackets." Or something like that.

English is the "common language" for most people nowadays, so it just makes sense when your wrangling people back and forth to have the name in at least one Roman Alphabet version.

Incidentally, the Swiss and wearing gear that says "Suisse" and "Republique Helvetique" so it's not an all-Anglo zone...

Highlight of the Games thus far for Canadians....

* Our one bronze medal in sychnronized diving.

* Annie Martin, beach volleyball player, and my early pick for the Jamie Sale Memorial Awards for 'babe of the Games.'

* One of our swimmers came dead last in two heats, and then gave a depressing Vader-esque "I'm a piece of shit" interview. It would've been funny had it not been so sad.

Rick Say snapped when the relay team finished 5th after a great start, and basically cut a promo about Canada sucking at these Olympics. It would've been disheartening if it wasn't true.

Alright, I gots to know.

So NBC made a big deal out of the fact that on their sister networks there was going to be a lot of additional coverage. I haven't tuned in to see any particular event, but a number of times now while flipping through the channels when I have looked at my cable guide and found it saying the Summer Olympics were going to be on CNBC or Bravo, I've tuned in only to find other programming going on.

That been happening to anyone else? Or is my cable guide just sucky?

The sister networks have had tons of programming that's followed the NBC on screen notes and what's listed on NBCOlympics.com (as long as you realize they're talking in ET even when they don't say so)

I don't believe they've had Olympic programming on other networks during NBC Primetime coverage, if that's when you're checking.

I don't get Telemundo now, but I'm curious: are they broadcasting (mostly Mexican soccer) in English or Spanish over on Telemundo? (Or both thanks to SAP?)

Spanish only as far as I can tell, but maybe I've got the SAP set up wrong.

The futbol is much better in Espanol anyway!

The real upside is it's the usual announce crew (live from Miami) with the GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL and so forth.

It's been on the wrong time for me to catch it and it's bad mojo to stay up for it. Watching Handball late the other night put me in a funk for a couple days, and the listings can get jumbled around when they have live coverage to work around taped stuff.

Brief thoughts on the new Doctor Who. Eccleston is playing too brusque and detached for me, and I was a fan of Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee. I don't want a wimp like Peter Davison (please never that again)
