Dude if you want a return to Attitude era WWF wrestling, then just buy old tapes. New century, new WWF, times change as far as I can tell. With WCW gone, the WWF needs to mainstream its product more and include the flavors of other federations they burried in order to get those viewers, at least the casual ones, to be fans again. So far they've been doing a decent job at this (I am kind of proof of that). It remains to be seen what will happen with the split. But if this gives the WWF more room to develop solid storylines that continue on longer than 4 days (like rebuilding dominant, week-in week-out heels) then it may be a plus. I'm not happy with the split idea, but let's at least see how it goes.

Well...that was certainly an inspired commentary on the pathetic state of the WWF in 2002.

While I will admit that the early 90's may have been a better time for the WWF (all of 92 with Ric Flair feuding with Savage and others was great stuff), there is NO WAY that the WWF in 2002 is any worse than the WWF in 1995. The gimmicks are better now, the matches are better wrestled, and there are no characters who wear horns and propose to be half-man and half-beast (Mantaur) or evil dentists (Isaac Yankem). Sure there is a superhero, but we are all in on the joke this time (psst...the Hurricane isn't really a superhero).

But don't let my pithy comments make you feel any worse about your eloquently stated thesis.

New Era, alright. WCW sucked! Now WCW is gone. WWF must pick up the mantle and suck because there is no other wrestling organization to do it. Signing that no-talent bum Hulk Hogan is proof of that. The NWO. Nash sucks, he learned his backstage manipulations from Hogan. Hall is a drunken idiot. The NWO angle is a rehash of a WCW failure. What was with that cinderblock they bashed over Austin's knee? It magically turned to powder upon impact. Is Austin's knee made of superhuman steel? Hogan turning face totally killed what miniscule potential the NWO storyline had. Stephanie McMahon as head booker sucks. Nepotism stinks the worst when the beneficiary has no talent for the position given. Anyone actually enjoy hearing her banshee voice from Hell week after week? Don't tell me you believe she'll actually be gone for any real length of time because of that stupid angle with HHH pinning her. Remember she was already supposed to be gone because of the Alliance loss at Survivor Series. That "split" idea showed promise but as usual they screwed it up from the get-go, just like with the Invasion angle and the NWO angle. New Era, indeed!

Professor,

While I don't... entirely... disagree with your statements about Hulk Hogan, let me ask you something...

How many arenas and stadiums around the world have you sold out?

If my answers frighten you, Vince, then perhaps you should cease asking scary questions.

Dude, take a pill and chill out. Relax. Breathe easy.

If you don't like what's on then turn the channel.

Pure and simple.

You're in a desert, walking along in the sand when all of a sudden you look down and see a tortoise. It's crawling towards you. You reach down and flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over. But it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping.

Whiel I think our "professor" here sounds like an asshole, I must defend him here.

How many arenas we sell out is irrelevant to the conversation. I don't recall the "professor" ever once claiming to be a good wrestler. Hulk Hogan does. The "professor" is challenging that claim, which he has every right to do.

Is an actor great simply because he has starred in more movies than you or I?

Does a writer deserve reverance because you and I haven't written any novels?

Do you see my point?

Everyone has a right to an opinion. No matter how ignorant it sounds. In regards to the 'professor'. How do you plan to rid the world of Hulkamania? Yes he's old and this and that but he's still around. At least give him some credit for that. I hate to burst your bubble young man but unless you're a wrestler or a booker, ain't shit you can do about it. Vince said it best when he said, 'the only way to defeat a billionaire is to become one yourself'. Now if you apply that to yourself and actaully get involved in the bizness. Maybe you CAN 'rid the world of Hulkamania'. I mean don't talk about it, be about it. Damn, how much bitching can a guy do about ONE wrestler.

The WWF does suck right now. But we still watch it. Why do we still watch if it sucks? That's like asking why do kids like Apple Jacks, we just do. Another reason could be that it is the only 'sport' that is year-round, there is no off-season. We can bitch about it all year, what other show offers fresh shows every week? It will get stale eventually. Everybody goes through a dry spell, it just so happens that theirs is longer and more frequent.

Tack on the fact that it's the only promotion with a nationally televised shows. There isn't anything wrestling oriented to watch otherwise.

Y'know. If you hate it so much, why do you waste your time watching it?

I mean, if I had the violent reactions that some of you guys are having to the current WWF programming, I'd just watch something else. It's only a freaking TV show.

If you absolutely have to watch wrestling, go out to a local show, or watch tapes. Why subject yourself to something that makes you feel so bad?

The only time I thought about not watching anymore was in the waning weeks of Russo-era WWF. It was really bad, the storylines were meandering, and the wrestlng was sub-par. Today may not be the best times, but they're far from the worst. With Steph gone and the full roster back, things can only get better.

But for God's sake, if it's bothering you so much, why watch it?

You don't have to tell other people that they're stupid for being able to still enjoy the WWF. Maybe they haven't been watching as long as you, and aren't burned out. Or maybe they just disagree with you. Regardless of internet social customs, that is allowable.

You hate the WWF today. Point taken. Now move on.

There is nothing stupid about liking or watching the WWF.
What IS stupid is repeating and believing all the lies that McMahon and his press machine spew forth. Are you all puppets? I came here with the impression that you were all at least semi-intelligent fans. I didn't expect to see the large number of marks I'm seeing now.

You are indeed stupid if you can't accept that someone thinks differently than you. You can't fathom why anyone would hate Hogan. Someone here put it best. I don't claim to be a good wrestler, Hogan does. Watch his matches at any given point in his career and he is proven wrong. By the way, I do wrestle better than Hogan, not like that is a big accomplishment, there are millions of people who wrestle better than Hogan. I've seen a wrestling bear, yes a bear that could actually perform wrestling maneuvers. Like Mr. Perfect used to say "Hulk Hogan, you can't do that." I've seen neighborhood kids 8-9 years old wrestling and they actually used wrestling holds ( no it wasn't that barbaric backyard wrestling your American youth engage in, where it's basically a fight with kitchen appliances ) and they sold moves better than Hogan. Mae Young and Moolah at 80-something years of age are more athletic than the much younger and presumably more fit Hogan. Maven, the Tough Enough winner, wrestles better than Hogan. The list goes on. So go choke on it, stupid marks.

Have you read any of the threads from the past two weeks on this board? Most of the topics regarding the WWF, are questioning: The Draft... Nash... Austin... The "Brand Extension"... The nWo...

What I am getting at is this forum does in fact present every side of the story, not just the elitist that you are trying to present yourself as. Even if the WWF is totally screwed up right now, there are bright spots in the company. Some of those bright spots might be different from one person to another, but there are good points. If you don't see those good things because of your veil of, "If it's WWF... It's CRAP!" A true wrestling fan will see the the product in front of them, and make an educated assessment of that product based upon what they have seen in the past.

Now while the current WWF product isn't the best wrestling product I've seen in the past couple months, it certainly is not the worst (uh... WWA???). If you just come out and use personal feelings to judge an entire product, that makes you a poor example of a "Smart Fan." A movie critic doesn't (in theory) give a bad review of a movie because he hates the lead actor. And as a "Smart Fan" you should not judge the entire product because of one person.

Yes, the WWF is sucky right now, but like I mentioned already there are bright spots. Brock Lesnar as a monster with Paul Heyman talking, Benoit and Guerrero returning, hopefully the Cruiserweight Division will be given a shot. These are three things I see as being something to look forward to. There are more, but I really don't want to pick apart every piece of WWF Programming right now.

Also, people do have the right to feel differently than you do. Just because somebody thinks you are talking out of your ass, does not make them a McMahon shill. If they come on the board and praise the WWF up and down without anything to back up their claims, then they are a shill (or a troll). The same goes if somebody comes on the board and rambles on about how much Hulk Hogan sucks, "Just because he does." I am writing this because I have an opinion on this topic, otherwise I would have skipped the thread all together. If you don't like what people are saying, just voice your opinion wihtout trying to ram you idealistic beliefs down other people's throats. Or you can just stop coming to this board if you don't like the opinions of those writing on this board.
