So last year Converse purchased Chuck Taylors. Tonight they were starting their new advertising campaign aimed at expanding the people aware of Chuck Taylors, but without alienating their loyal "iconoclastic" base by being too "advertisement"y. Chuck Palumbo wears Chuck Taylors. It's the kind of internal advertising that a company like Converse would pay big bucks for. Yet no Chick Palumbo on RAW. I mean nothing on that two hour program did anything to help market the PPV. If they're not interested in making money on PPV buys, the least the WWE could do is try to make some money off Palumbo's shoes.

What Worked

TKG: I don't know about running a face vs. face match when you've already killed the audience with such an ass first hour. I mean that wasn't gonna get crowd heat. I liked Edge v. Jericho more than Phil. Thought the early collar and elbow looked nice. Edge worked his tall guy who sells bodypart vs. small guy thing which normally don't like. But didn't mind it here. Liked the story of both guys avoiding the signature moves. Including Jericho going for the WWE use-your-opponent's-signature-spot and not being able to hit it. Jericho's series of moves can almost get Backseat boys dream Sequence stale, so the breaking it all up works. Big bumps to transition seems better use of big bumps than the Orton v Edge big bumps to make it feel like big match. Liked that interference didn't happen till after too.

PAS: Edge v. Jericho was perfectly fine, I thought the beginning of the match was pretty dull, but I liked Jericho's giant bumps as transitions. I like Batista coming out and wasting Edge too, although we really needed alot more Batista.

TKG: Liked them teasing that they were going to have all the Canadians lose on Sunday. But looks like Resistance is gonna make it through the show without a match, instead.

What Didn't Work

TKG: WWE normally has good production stuff where they take awful matches/angles and can put together a video package that makes it look compelling. this week they took last weeks Regal/Helmsley confrontation and stripped it of anything interesting. The video package made a great segment look pedestrian.

PAS: The only match in that entire first hour was this shitty Divas trios. Molly looked awful here as all of her stuff looked really bad. For some reason they have the untrained Stacy Kiebler work face in peril. Plus instead of just doing a beat down, they are going to play dodgeball? They needed to work a 7 diva tag, and have Ivory tear all their ACL's for trying to take her spot.

TKG: After Lita tells Matt that the baby was not his, I got all excited. "Holy shit they're going to do the Dump contract signing angle!!! HOLY SHIT!! HOLY SHIT!!" But Matt didn't gut a fetus on the contract signing table. So it didn't work.

PAS: Man the skinny black girl really has a look of a manic depressive in her manic
phase. D-Von needed to run in, point to the sky, and burn her with a crack pipe.

TKG: Neither Regal segment today was as good as the Regal and Sir. Eaton go to fancy restaurant. Why is Helmsley's face orange? He was darker than the motel curtains.

PAS: Was that a ball gag in Regal's mouth? Where did that blood on Helmsley's hand come from?

TKG: The main event was surprisingly competitive but the finish was stupid as all fuck. Helmsley hits finisher on Benoit. Is this supposed to make me want to buy the PPV? This was a pre-PPV RAW. I'm trying to think if anything on this show actually put heat on the PPV.

PAS: Beniot last gasp as champion was fine, although his title reign will really go down smoked by Eddie's. Although that wasn't really Beniot's fault as HHH isn't nearly as good as JBL.

PAS: I enjoyed Eugene as mongoloid mat worker, but he is the crappiest brawler in this promotion. They should have made Tomko the retard, his eyes are set close enough together and he can actually throw a punch.

Will Matt Hardy drop the match only to find that he had been swerved by Lita and Kane and the baby really is his? That might be an angle worth keeping around for awhile as Matt tries to get his revenge only to get his ass handed to him over and over. Matt would really have to get the shit kicked out of him. Sort of a Dreamer/Raven thing. It would probably be better in a smaller promotion though where they would commit to something like this for more than one PPV period.
