Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight, never running from a real fight, because it is time to WAKE UP! It's tie for Raw, live from Cleveland, OH. In some idiotic attempt to look more...like a message-board poster, I'll try to bold performers' names the first time they appear.

Coach and the ladies languidly lounge in la ring. Ooo la la. Randy Orton, in black pinstriped suit, blue shirt, and tie, comes to the ring to take the mic. Randy lets a lady leave. Orton then cuts a promo on Beniot, while the stupid girls look on; careful camera angles keep the ladies out of most of the promo. FOOTAGE! of Randy pinning Benoit last week. Post-FOOTAGE!, the ladies have all disappeared. Chris Benoit, in red "4REAL" tights with blak slashes, carrying the Title, comes out all stubbly to rebut...with a crossface.

FOOTAGE! of those last three words.

Stacy, in red tanktop and Daisy Dukes, Victoria in pink top, hotpants, and armwraps, and Nidia, in short dress and black undies vs. Molly, in pink/black/white top and black pants, Jazz in black robe, bikini top and pants, and Gail in black trenchcoat, slitted white tip and red hotpants. Jack Doan wears the stripes as he officiates. Stacy sells like you'd expect a non-wrestler to. Nidia gets the pin on Molly. A poor match (I just didn't care).

Post-match, Trish, in black, with Tomko, also in black, comes out to chat with the ladies. All of them walk up the ramp together.

FOOTAGE! of HHH destroying Regal last week.

In a hotel, Eugene is with a battered Regal. William urges patience to a Eugene eager for vengeance. Regal goes off to rest, and Eugene sneaks out.

Smackdown! Rebound. Boingy.

Lita sits. Mattitude enters. Lita lets out that Kane's little swimmers won (via countout?). Matt portrays "tormented". Awkwardness ensues.

JR, in a tan suit and black hat, in the ring, introduces Kane, in black tights with red barbedwire stripes. Then he introduces Mattitude, in black, with Lita, in black shirt, and red skirt (black thong). Mattitude doesn't sit at the graciously-provided desk, which sits upon the red carpet that covers the ring. Signing ensues, with LawyerGuy looking on. Post-signing, trashtalking escalates into furniture-assisted physicality (the Law of Equity states that Kane will win at SummerSlam).

Coach, in the back, puts the gals through their pre-taped paces. That's not ice cream; that's soft-serve! You bastards!

Edge in black faceprint tights and black "Edge" trenchcoat, wearing the IC Title, vs. Jericho, in red/black sequined "Jericho" silhoutte shirt and red silhoutte tights. Chad "I'll Allow It" Patton referees, in black-and-white stripes. Jericho gets tossed to the fans, so AdBreak does his thing.

FanFashion: Eugene cosplayer on the floor, fourth row back.

Cont. Edge is controlling the match, but Jericho remains tenacious. Jericho dodges the Spear, rollup with help from the ropes -> pin. Nice match. Post-match, Batista comed to destroy Edge. Jericho just walks away from the beating. Wow - no clear face going into their SummerSlam match.

Eugene arrives, stalking the back.

Eugene, in white/red jacket and blue undies, is in the ring, looking ornery. He calls-out HHH, but HHH responds only via TitanTron...from Eugene and Regal's hotel room. HHH has even-more-battered Regal hostage. Damn - Regal looks like he's near death. Eugene runs off, visibly distraught. (How fortuitous that Eugene and Regal took a camera crew with satelitte capabilities to their hotel room, else Eugene wouldn't have been able to see that disturbing scene.)

Lillian, in pink top and black skirt, proclaims the umcoming match a 2-minute affiar, then introduces Rhyno, in black "Rhyno" singlet and Tajiri, in black pants with dragon and flaming left hem, vs. Jobbers, one in red undies, one in red tights (with an "R"-shaped stripe). Mike Chioda officiates. La Resistance comes to ringside; they distract Chioda long enough for the clock to run-out. Time-limit draw. Poor match. Oh, the stipulation was if the faces won in two minutes, they'd get a title shot at SummerSlam.

The "ladies" gyrate in the ring, egged-on by Coach. Oh, and at the end of this segment, all the women wrestlers (who walked-off together earlier, remember?) come to the ring. Trish announces that Bisch booked WrestlerWomen vs. SkankyChicks in a dodgeball game, at SummerSlam.

and Cole run-down Smackdown!'s half of the PPV card. JR and King run-down the Raw portion.

In the back, Flair, Randy and HHH talk the kind of talk that heels talk when no-one else is around to listen to their heelishness (in talking form).

Evolution: HHH in black iron-cross undies, Randy in red "Orton" undies with gold hip scrawls, with Flair, in black suit and grey shirt, vs. Benoit, in same as before. Benoit gets on the mic to announce that Eugene has left to tend to Regal, but he'll wrestle in a handicap match. Hebner, in stripes, is the referee. Flair's interference->Benoit by DQ. The post-match beatdown of Benoit ends when Eugene charges in to make the save.

Overall: How do you people stand to do that bolding?

Too much crap during the first hour; gosh how blah those 60-minutes of television were. That meant that I just couldn't get "into" the show, and the rest of the evening just didn't have any impact with me.

So, while not a bad show, it wasn't really entertaining, either. I could've had just as much fun with pre-season football (keep in mind that I don't care about either team, and that this game means nothing).

Dude ... Jazz, Molly, and Victoria whipping dodgeballs at annoying models who could possibly win more money then they probably make in a year. Much fun will be had.

RAW Thougts:

Good opening segment, if only to interrupt the Diva shennanigans....Why does it seem Benoit is always in TAG matches, and rarely defends the belt on RAW?....The women's match wasn't so great. Who's great idea was it to have Stacy Keibler do all the selling?....Interesting twist at the end with Trish coming out....

The Kane/Matt stuff was nothing special, but it wasn't embarrasing....Ice Cream? Why does this want to make me vote/not vote for a diva?....Jericho/Edge was pretty entertaining, but too much teasing of the spear, then missing....The tag squash was interesting. Could've used a backstage segment to set it up though....

Diva Dodgeball? That has disaster written all over it....Remember when the Smackdown Rebound used to last like 10 seconds?....Good main event. Say what you will about Orton's chinlocks, but at least he doesn't sit there with them- he makes them half-interesting with his squirming and grabbing the ropes.

SHG, normally I would object to you calling the Diva hopefuls "sluts", but after seeing Joy cover herself in ice cream, I'm inclined to agree with you this week. I'm not a food fetishist.

Christy (the redhead) is insane.

Also, after Kane cut his promo, he gave out the best evil laugh I ever heard from a wrestler. Kane is an awesome villain.

They can't have a World Tag Title match on PPV, but they can continue the DivaCrapFest? And, how can you justify any rivalries in the female division?
If they were giving indications on who is turning in the I-C Title match, they sure are indicating Jericho turning heel. Actually, that makes more sense as Jericho is a better as a heel, and it could provide rationale for Benoit to remain World Champ.
Just because the baby isn't Matt's, how do we know it really is Kane's? If Lita is such a slut, who says its not Vince's for the TV time, or perhaps she visited SD and Bradshaw 'Locker Room Leadered' her.
Watching the main event, I now know why Randy Orton wouldn't be a convincing World Champ at this point of his career. Of the 4 members of Evolution, he has the least ring presence. Flair has it, but he can't go anymore. I don't like him, but Trip has it. To a degree, Batista is starting to develop it. I just don't see World Champion when I see Randy Orton, unless its as a WCW'ish World Champ after the company headed towards the toilet.
And, was this the first time in wrestling history where the competitors in the World Title main event match were laid out to end a pre-PPV show by the members of an undercard match? Trip should not be knocking Benoit out, and Eugene should not be knocking Orton out, rather, it should be the other way.

Still pondering why there was no public backlash for Jimmy Hart's advocation of self canibalism on the first Wrestling Album.

I liked the show in and of itself, but I can't say I liked the build up to the PPV. I'm beginning to think that the Orton rumors may just be an attempt to hype interest. They've shown no hints of Evolution's demise.

It still bothers me that HHH/Retard is still getting a bigger push than the world title match.

Batista/Y2J/Edge should be interesting. I was a little surprised that the crowd was only about 60/40 Y2J. I thought it would be 80/20 Y2J. Given that, Y2J could be the more heelish one since SS is in Toronto.

I have to give WWE a little credit, when they booked the 2min title shot match, I thought to myself, the outcome is obvious. They surprised me, but I wanted to see the match at SS. Another example of good show, but bad buildup.

You know...Benoit did just defend the world title 2 weeks ago on RAW...in an Iron Man match no less.

Feh, what a lame show other than the good Edge/Jericho match and most of the handicap match main event.

Can someone please tell me why after all the build-up and the tease tonight, there will be no tag team title match this Sunday between Rhyno/Tajiri and La Resistance? They can't have that match which I was looking forward to, but they can have shit like this stupid dumbass fucking DIVA DODGEBALL match and another shitty match with Matt Hardy and Kane. FUCK YOU WWE WRITERS!

And what will the main event of Summerslam be? Some of the ads seem to be pushing JBL/Undertaker. If that's the final match...I will kick someone until they cry.

I think I'd rather watch Stacy lick chocolate off Test's ass than watch Stacy wrestle. Don't quote me on that.

My Dad: "Sure, Eugene can sneak out of a hotel room, but can he drive?"

They've told us that Matt ISN'T the father of Lita's baby, but they haven't told us for sure that Kane IS. This can mean only one thing: Matt Hocking is cheating on his darling Stacy.

Ooo... I sure hope that briefcase was padded or something, because it freaking bounced off Kane's head.

Whatever that Christy chick is on, she needs to cut back really bad.

Ya know, I think I see what they are doing with these Diva segments. They are SO bad, its like a train wreck. You cant help but watch. The Diva dogdgeball has unintentional comedy gold written ALL over it. Where are they gonna play dodgeball though? The ring is too small for it to be any good. And doing it on the stage area isnt gonna look right. They should prolly pre-tape the segment in a gym somewhere near the arena. And, WWE needs to hire Chuck Norris and William Shatner again for this to be any good. Lets hope one of them gets a nice bloody nose from it.

BTW, I was half expecting Eugene to crap his pants after he saw Regal getting beat up. He had that look of concern a 2nd grader has when he knows he fucked up.

Benoit also defended the World Heavyweight Title against Rhyno on the night of the draft lottery. And later against Shawn Michaels, for that matter.

Considering the fact that Triple H almost never defended the World Title on RAW when he had it, I have to think you're kinda grasping at straws here.

Anyway... I liked when Matt Hardy punked out Kane. But Kane's shitty little sit-up routine doesn't make anybody but Kane look good. I mean, I'm not saying he needs to be stretchered out or anything, but jeez.

Diva Dodgeball has the opportunity to be a unique, fun way to watch the RAW Diva hopefuls get their asses kicked-- or it could have the words “unmitigated disaster” written all over it. But hey, if this is what it takes to get Molly Holly, Gail Kim and Jazz on a PPV, then I'll take it. By the way, the Molly wig joke wasn't funny when it made its debut the night after WrestleMania, and it's not funny now.

It was pretty stupid that Rhyno and Tajiri apparently aren't going to get a Tag Team Title match at SummerSlam. Um, OK.

Kinda funny-- but not particularly surprising-- that we're going into SummerSlam, and even though Triple H isn't involved in the World Title match, his match is still getting the most buildup. But, oh, the buildup has been outstanding, no two ways about it.

And I won't bitch too much about it, because Chris Benoit kicked about 47 different kinds of ass tonight. I especially loved Benoit's rebuttal after Orton showed the footage from last week. “Let's show the footage of you tapping out!”-- which, by the way, actually had happened before Benoit created some, um, additional footage, heehee. I seem to recall Benoit making Orton tap out in a tag-team match-- I think Benoit's partner was Edge, and Orton's partner was Batista. But then again, I don't have a RAW Results chart in my head, so I could be off-base about the details.

I seriously think that after Benoit retains his title against Orton at SummerSlam (please, God), he needs to get into a program with Ric Flair. Every time Benoit and Flair get in the ring against one another, shivers just run down my spine, y'know? It's still surreal to me, even though it's been, what, more than five years since those two were last in the Four Horsemen together?

I actually watched the ice cream thing instead of changing the channel this week-- for reasons unknown to me-- and y'all are right, Carmella simply isn't trying. She had by far the worst performance of the night, yet WWE seems hell-bent on making her the next RAW Diva. If I were to vote in this bullshit competition, I would have voted for anyone other than her. Hell, she doesn't even look that good.

[Edited: Duh, of course there aren't Heat spoilers, 'cuz Heat's gonna be live on Sunday, of course. My bad.]

After tonight, I think it would be hilarious if Matt Hardy just lies down and lets Kane get the win at SS, so that "two-timer" Lita will have to marry the big ugly oaf. That would be Matt's revenge. Now, that would be funny.

As Kane signed the "contract", though, all I could think was, "Do monsters have contracts? Do they listen to lawyers?" He looked out of place even holding a pen.

I agree with jjfc... I think it would better to make Jericho more heelish than Edge. There's been some talk about how this feud could turn Edge heel, but in their match tonight, there seemed to be some hints that it might go the other way. I don't think the fact that SS is in Toronto will matter much, though. They might tell us that Jericho is from Manhasset, but we haven't forgotten that he's from Winnipeg, and he's much liked here in Toronto. As is Edge. I don't think either will really have more of a hometown edge, except for the intro-pop.

Chris Benoit is still the man. Eugene is still whatever he is, and I still love him.

And man, I'm starting to think that Regal might be the best talker in the business. And he didn't even do much talking tonight.

So? What? No tag build up for SS. That's just stupid. Is Rhyno getting better? I mean, does he have a more interesting moveset than he had before? I thought so, but maybe Tajiri just brings it out more in him. Intersting pairing, so far.

Benoit's made Orton tap out on TWO occassions in official matches. When he and Edge defended their tag team titles against Orton and Batista. And in the six man elimination match the night after Bad Blood. Both matches were on RAW.

Yes I am buying the PPV, and I have the right to be upset if I have to shell out the $35 dollars for it. This is Summerslam, the second biggest PPV of the year, and they should be blowing the loads on Sunday. And who's to say they can't continue Rhyno/Tajiri against La Resistance post Summerslam? Even if they did have a match, which they should.

I mean of the 8 RAW and Smackdown titles, only 3 titles will be decided on Sunday. Disappointing.
