"Word backstage is that Billy Gunn and Bob Holly are the two most disgruntled guys in the Smackdown locker room right now. Both guys are upset because they feel they have "paid their dues" and deserve bigger pushes than what they are getting. Management is also upset with them because they feel that the two did not do everything they could to make Kenzo Suzuki and Mordecai look good at the Great American Bash PPV.

Gunn was recently backstage at the TNA Impact! taping and while he acted like he was only there to visit friends, many suspect he could be considering going to the promotion. TNA may look even more attractive to Gunn now that they are likely to be based out of Orlando and tape both their PPVs and Impact! there. Gunn likes in Orlando."

Fuckin’ hell. They’ve HAD their push. Repeatedly! Hell, Holly was the freakin’ title contender for the Royal Rumble and was given a month to try to get the fans to take him seriously. IT. DIDN’T. WORK.

Dear god, don’t let them decide to make the Summerslam main-event into a three-way dance between JBL, Gunn and Holly.

Do I lose smarky points if I admit that I find nothing redeeming about Kenzo Susuki and that I'd have rather watched a Gunn-Holly 90-minute Ironman match than that fucked up Cena/Suzuki segment last night? WORD.

I'm kinda with JayJay here. You KNOW a guy blows chunks when you find yourself thinking "why the Hell should Billy Gunn put over THIS mook?".

Once upon a time in China, some believe, around the year one double-ought three, head priest of the White Lotus Clan, Pai Mei was walking down the road, contemplating whatever it is that a man of Pai Mei's infinite power contemplates - which is another way of saying "who knows" - when a Shaolin monk appeared, traveling in the opposite direction. As the monk and the priest crossed paths, Pai Mei, in a practically unfathomable display of generosity, gave the monk the slightest of nods. The nod was not returned. Now was it the intention of the Shaolin monk to insult Pai Mei or did he just fail to see the generous social gesture? The motives of the monk remain unknown. What is known, are the consequences. The next morning Pai Mei appeared at the Shaolin Temple and demanded of the Temple's head abbot that he offer Pai Mei his neck to repay the insult. The Abbot at first tried to console Pai Mei, only to find Pai Mei was inconsolable. So began the massacre of the Shaolin Temple and all 60 of the monks inside at the fists of the White Lotus. And so began the legend of Pai Mei's five point palm exploding heart technique.

I agree that Billy and Holly have paid their dues. And I don't see anything good about Kenzo to warrant getting pushed. However, how are you going to see what Kenzo has unless you let him do something, should he just get squashed over and over again by everyone on the roster? No, that's not how you deal with a new talent. Besides if I complained to my boss and was disgruntled, he'd fire me, whether i was angry about something legitimate or not. Vince should do the same thing.

Where do YOU work? A lot of companies value feedback from loyal employees. Firing people for voicing their opinion in a respectful way doesn't help morale, which leads to diminished worker productivity.

The only thing Kenzo has proven himself to be good for is cannon fodder for Cena on this past week's Smackdown. Okay, call me immature, but I love poo-poo, constipation and hermaphrodite humor, so the Cena / Kenzo bit was pretty damn entertaining to me.

However, I still can't see why Kenzo is getting all of this fanfare or why they hired him on in the first place. Lame. I can't say I blame Holly or Gunn for being so infuriated at having to put Kenzo or Mordechai over. Mordechai is a little green but has potential. He shouldn't open his mouth, but that's a different story altogether. Kenzo is a veteran and, well, let's just say he should change his name to Kenzo Suz-SUCKY. I'm not a Bob Holly or Billy Gunn mark, either but those two are much better wrestlers than Kenzo. When the thing that got the most reaction out of the crowd at the PPV was Gunn teasing the crowd with a DX crotch chop during the match, you know Suzuki ain't living up to the hype either and there's only so much anyone could to to try and put the mook over.

You know, a Gunn/Holly tandem could work well in TNA in the tag ranks.

I don't think either has any to offer the WWE in their current gimmicks. Gunn has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success with his DX affiliation and the Smokin Gunn days before that. Holly's been around forever in various incarnations and teams. Both have had single and title pushes ... hey, wait.

Are we sure these guys aren't upset that JBL was handed the psuedo-Vince gimmick and the belt? Maybe they think they could have done as well as he if given that opportunity.

Before we get all excited about a possible Gunn jump to TNA (if "excited" would be the right word), note that depending on his contract he might have a no-compete clause in there if they do grant him a release.

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments made in this thread about Holly and Gunn. It's not as if these guys are being held back. They've been given far more opportunities than most (if not all) other WWE superstars, and have failed to deliver on a number of levels.

I can't really fault Gunn for not making Suzuki look good, however. It's IMPOSSIBLE to do so. Anybody who's seen him wrestle in Japan knows how horrible he is. When they first hired him and hyped up his debut, I was scratching my head to the point of scraping away at the top of my skull. I mean, of all the Japanese workers to bring in, they bring in THIS guy? On what merits? And what scout is over there saying "THIS GUY HAS IT!" when he clearly doesn't? Is it a problem of management, scouts, or what? I fear the worst part of this will be McMahon letting Suzuki go down and line and saying "See? Those Japanese workers and their style aren't so great after all."

Anyways, back to the real topic. I can see if Holly gave Mordecai a hard time in the ring (which he has with most including Lesnar but it was never a problem before), but I don't see why Gunn should be punished.

...then again, screw it. Fire his ass.

The only reason I can come up with that can even POSSIBLY explain why they hired Suzuki is his wife. Personally, I don't get where she's so hot, but apparently, she's signed a seperate contract from her husband which would possibly mean she's going to be yet another **yawn** "diva." Goodie. Just what we need. More eye candy that isn't really eye candy. Aren't they trying to accomplish this with the $250,000 Tranny Search? Look at any one of them and tell me you can whip them into wrasslin' shape. PLEASE let them be on Smackdown!

Other than that, I can't think of any reason why someone decided to hand over a contract to Pretty Paisly Printed Port-a-Potty Boy.

Gunn and Holly are the guys in your office who've been there for 30 years, and they still suck at their jobs. They're probably lazy, they don't distinguish themselves; their only accomplishment has been not sucking enough to get fired for years and years. And they have no idea why they get passed up for promotions and raises because their reasoning always begins with, "Well, I've been here for 20 years..."

They'll never get it. Show them the door.

They're also the guys in the office that stuck around on a sinking ship when everyone else was getting HUGE money offers to go work for WCW. They do whatever stupid stuff you ask them to do, and they've been screwed over in the past by the 'established stars' whenever they did get a chance to show what they've got.

They've both worked through career-ending injuries to come back and try to contribute to your company to help you out in any way that they can.

They've shown their loyalty more than most of our 'favorites' and have gotten plenty of raises and promotions over the years because of it.

Besides, to say that they're the "two most disgruntled workers in the smackdown lockerroom" is a bit of bullshit. Obviously someone is leaking this stuff out, so this is just one guy's (RVD's?) opinion. I hate to break it to you guys, but right about now, every single one of them is pretty disgruntled about the state of the company and their jobs.

I hope that Gunn and Holly go to TNA. It would be funny to watch Gunn's carreer go in to crapper fast. No one would really know who he is anyone since he couldn't be Billy Gunn or Ass Man. The Full Monty I guess.
Holly I am not so sure about. Is that his real name? He couldn't be Hardcore (I think) but it would be less of a stretch to remember who he is.
But really who cares who they were. Gunn is the person who has had 3 or 4 good sized pushes. He blew his biggest one when he dumped Benoit on his head and almost killed him. Plus most of his "fame" comes from smoking weed with X-Pac and HHH. Not exactly a great worker.
Holly isn't a bad worker but to me he is a lot like JBL. A better wrestler of course and no anal raping but a bigger asshole. Plus his gimick of I am pissed off is not only boring as hell but seems to be what his real life attitude is. Fuck him.

I'm sure it was tough for them to turn away those millions that Bischoff was undoubtedly waving in their face. I mean, when you think of hot commodities from 93-01, you think of guys with racecar and big ass gimmicks. Bishcoff might not have known what to do with Mark Calloway without the Undertaker moniker, and he fucked up the reigning WWF champion beyond recognition, but I'll bet he was salivating over the chance to bring those two in.

What else were they gonna do? Sell cars? Gunn is still living with his fucking SISTER, he probably needs the money. And Holly's probably living under a bridge somewhere, working stiff with winos, runaways and college students without cars.

Look, these guys suck. And I'm not just saying that because all smarks say it - they suck. I don't blame guys like Austin for not wanting to work with them. Gunn's glory days are behind him and the only people who dig Holly are mindless contrarians or posters who are working a stupid wrestler gimmick.

Steve Austin's contract during his HUGELY successful Ausin 3:16 years was for 300'000 a year. Do you know what Bischoff paid Jim 'The Fucking Anvil' Neidhart for that same year? 300'000 dollars.

Even if he doesn't know what to do with them, which they all knew, a whole lot of guys were liking the idea of getting paid week after week without even having to work if Bischoff didn't know what to do with them.

I know it's shocking to some people here, but not every wrestler in the world would be willing to make hundreds of thousands of dollars less, work 4 times as much, and have to travel 80% of their life, just to brag that they got to wear a shiny gold belt for two months. Some guys really are in it for money at this point.

Hardcore was big news back when he became Hardcore Holly, and if you don't think that Bischoff would have wanted to get one half of D-X's tag team champions of the wwwwwooooooorrrrrlllllllldddddd to sign with him and would have paid anything to get even Billy Gunn, then... well forget it... Nothing I say here will result in me not getting banned.

I'm not saying that these guys don't suck either, I'm saying that how many Dragon-Screw Leg Whips a guy does in a match isn't the be-all and end-all of a guy's value to the company. You've got two loyal workers who could always either be trainers (Holly) or road agents (Gunn) but I guess it's cool to say "fire them" because no matter how much we all complain about the crappy way the WWE runs it's business, we all like to prove how much worse we would be in their place.

Wasn't Bischoff paying Rick fuckin' Steiner seven figures?? So maybe there IS some indication that he liked to pour money down various ratholes. I would've paid Neidhart in MicroTouches, not U.S. legal tender.

Okay. And yeah, he courted "talent" like Jeff Jarrett and Madusa, but don't act like he was knocking down the doors of Holly and Gunn. I seriously doubt that he would've paid anything to get Billy Gunn. C'mon, let's not get crazy here.

I'm also not saying they don't suck. I'm just saying that just because they stuck around the WWE for a long time isn't necessarily a virtue. It doesn't automatically make them better wrestlers and it doesn't make them popular with the fans.

And I think that Holly would be the LAST guy WWE would want as a trainer.

I love how someone can make a decent point which is well backed up and even then, you can't let go of you're hard on against Holly...anyways...

Gunn has lost it with the crowd AND is a poor show in the ring right now. Bob is getting decent pops on Velocity and SD!...when he makes the rare appearance...and continues to do his best with whatever is shoved his way. I certainly wouldn't be the first one to jump on the "Holly as a trainer" idea BUT if he found it was something he enjoyed and could do it as Robert Howard and not as Hardcore Holly...then I think he would have alot to offer.

God knows he's seen and done it all...or at least most of it...

Cheers,

Erin
