From LAW -Some bad numbers over the weekend for WWE. They drew around 2000 in Vancouver, around 1100 in Saskatoon and about 1300 in North Bay, Ontario. Tonight's show in Kenora is going to be around 1000 I'd imagine. As of a few days ago approximately 650 tickets had been sold for that show.-
Usually houseshows numbers are expected to be low, but Canada has always been a stronghold no matter what. But it is strange seeing just 1000-2000 tickets for an event in Canada... Maybe Canada isn't always going to "be there" for Vince, especially when he goes on national television and says every Canadian talent that turns babyface needs to be American because that's what's important and I guess Canada will always "be there" no matter how disrespectful you are in the main-stream stage.
I'm not saying that's the only reason for the low attendance, but Canadian's have always been proud of their wrestling roots. Seeing The E trying to erase it for the most ignorant of reasons, I can see it turning off some people from not going.

When did Vince go on TV and publicly state that all of his Canadian babyfaces should change their nationality to American?
Once upon a time in China, some believe, around the year one double-ought three, head priest of the White Lotus Clan, Pai Mei was walking down the road, contemplating whatever it is that a man of Pai Mei's infinite power contemplates - which is another way of saying "who knows" - when a Shaolin monk appeared, traveling in the opposite direction. As the monk and the priest crossed paths, Pai Mei, in a practically unfathomable display of generosity, gave the monk the slightest of nods. The nod was not returned. Now was it the intention of the Shaolin monk to insult Pai Mei or did he just fail to see the generous social gesture? The motives of the monk remain unknown. What is known, are the consequences. The next morning Pai Mei appeared at the Shaolin Temple and demanded of the Temple's head abbot that he offer Pai Mei his neck to repay the insult. The Abbot at first tried to console Pai Mei, only to find Pai Mei was inconsolable. So began the massacre of the Shaolin Temple and all 60 of the monks inside at the fists of the White Lotus. And so began the legend of Pai Mei's five point palm exploding heart technique.
Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn.

On a Canadian TV show, Vince said that Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit changed their announced hometowns (Winnipeg and Edmonton to Manhasset and Atlanta) so that they would be cheered louder by the American fans. Meanwhile, Trish Stratus, Christian (both heels) and Edge (widely suspected of turning heel soon) are announced as from Toronto.
So, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?
The same thing we do every night, Pinky: Try to take over the world!
Strong argument could be made that this will be the worst Western Canadian run since the infamous Fall '95 trek. For a few weeks, they appeared to put some emphasis on house shows/live events, but that has waned recently.
Any third world countries want Kevin Millar? I'll throw Ramiro Mendoza in the package just to give you a good deal.
I didn't even know they were here until I saw the results on the web. Not that I would have gone but still, if the only way I'm going to know about the house shows is by watching Mark Lloyd's little segments, I won't know about them because he is VERY annoying.
They've also been running the "B" venue here in Vancouver instead of GM Place where the Canucks play. It may not seem important but I think it does hurt their image.

"Quite frankly, RAW has been missing something lately. And so, next week, in this very ring.... we're gonna have ourselves a good old-fashioned HOMETOWN LOTTERY! And by god, I don't care if you're from Winnipeg, if you're from Edmonton... hell, I don't care if you're from Calgary, we're gonna make Americans out of each and every one of you! And it's gonna shake the foundations of RAW FOREVER!"
"Bah Gawd, King, what's The Game gonna think about all this??!"

Well, to be fair, most people in Kenora that are wrestling fans are willing to travel to Winnipeg for our RAW, and some will even stay the night and be at our Smackdown too. If 1000 people go to the Kenora show anyways, that's like half the friggin' population. We're not talking New York City here or anything.
Apparently our tapings (or so I've read lately) tonight and tomorrow are supposedly to be really good numbers for what they've been getting lately. I'll be at the Smackdown show. With the prices they're charging for tickets, I could only get enough money for both shows if I sold BOTH arms, and if I did that, how would I drive to the arena? In case anyone's wondering, I only got Smackdown tickets because RAW's weren't even announced until Smackdown was getting close to a sellout (so no making fun!).
Well, a recent house show in St Louis only had about 3000 people. Thats sad for one of the better markets in the USA. Sad indeed. It isnt because Vince changed somebody's home town, or any other reason, its because there isnt any incentive to go, the TV products have been sucking a while, and they have basically no selling points for house shows.
Bad markets plus bad timing equals piss poor draws. Kenora, Ontario had a population of 17,000 according to the town's website. Tourist town or no, they should be happy they drew a thousand fans on a long weekend there.

I think it keeps up, they probably have a problem. But I wouldn't worry about one or two shows under the circumstances.
It's not just cottage season. Smackdown came to Ottawa last November and only drew 1300.
