Two years too late, if you ask me. Hopefully her casting was just an aberration and Dick Wolf still knows how to find good actors.

Now, if they could only do something about the writers....

I've always thought that she's one of the reasons that the writing has been so bad. Without her playing a major role in the courtroom scenes, Sam Waterston has to carry most of the trial stuff, and the writers always seem to give him some major speech where he is always wild eyed and amazed. Hopefully they get an actor or actress who they can put in the courtroom who can carry the scenes, so it doesn't look like Sam's eyebrows are going to fall off.

And I love the casting of Dennis Farina. I'll miss Jerry Orbach, but Dennis Farina makes bad movies tolerable.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

"Wake me when any of them are naked." (Barbwire Mike)

To borrow from the Television Without Pity boards, on a translation of the statement about Elisabeth Rohm's hiring:

"Lis gives GREAT head."

Unless you've got a better idea about how she got the role... Dennis Farina's gonna whip ass (even though when I heard he got it, I was thinking of Dennis Franz) and hopefully they'll get a little better about lifting from the headlines.

She was his worst assistant but not terrible. The worst was the DA before Fred Thompson. She just plain wasn't the role. I loved "Crime Story" and Farina should be great.

With NYPD Blue going off after the next season, I would rather see Dennis Franz as a cop on L&O.

Too bad they killed her off, otherwise I would love to see Jill Hennessy back on there.

Is it just me, or if they merged the three Law and Orders together, they would actually have one Good show as opposed to three so-so shows?

God Bless Ronald Reagan, and may he rest in peace...

* * * * * * *

For decades, American had waged a Cold War, and few believed it could possibly end in our own lifetimes. The president was one of those few. And it was the vision and the will of Ronald Reagan that gave hope to the oppressed, shamed the oppressors and ended an evil empire . . . Ronald Reagan was more than a historic figure. He was a providential man who came along just when our nation and the world most needed him.

Fellow Americans, here lies a graceful and a gallant man.
- Dick Cheney, 6/9/2004

Reagan had a rare and prized gift called leadership, that ineffable and sometimes magical quality that sets some men and women apart so that millions will follow them as they conjure up grand visions and invite their countrymen to dream big and exciting dreams.-Brian Mulroney, 6/11/2004

Criminal Intent is GREAT. I love that show. Vincent D'rskfigngiondo is great, and should be nominated for an Emmy.

SVU is okay, although Mariska Haggerty used to be so much hotter, but, you have Bunch from Homicide and Ice T on there, and they are always good (not Ice's acting, but his attitude and his "F' you dirtball" mentality)

The original is still okay, but the scripts have been really week this last season. I hope they can get the steam back with a new influx of talent.

People either love or hate L&O:CI (as the cool kids call it). I like it, and understand that it's basically a star vehicle for Vincent D'Onofrio, but I feel like Jamey Sheridan and Courtney B. Vance are wasted, because they are very good actors.

SVU is great, and I really like it that they give a star one or two episodes to be focused on them a season. Munch has had some great moments over the years, and Fin is always great when he goes over the edge.

The original is the original. It's slipped in the past few years, but I think that's due to staleness and the fact that I never could get used to Elizabeth Rohm's character. Plus, she didn't have the relationship with McCoy that he's had in the past: him and Hennessey's character were lovers, him and Mrs. Richard Gere had kind of an adversarial relationship, and he was like Mrs. Jason Sehorn's mentor.

I'm a pretty big L&O junkie, but I dont care for L&O:CI at all. Every episode seems the same to me. Det. Gorn always knows WAAY too much about everyone & everything all the time, and his partner (the girl on death row on Oz, but I forget her name) is 100% useless. She never does or says anything of significance ever.

But back to Det. Gorn: Remember that Star Trek:TNG episode where Jordi & Data were in the holodeck acting out a Sherlock Holmes novel? They would just be starting out, but since Data had read every book, he would walk into the first bar/house/whatever they got to and bust the bad guy right away (instead of letting the "mystery" play out, looking for clues, etc) because he already knew how each story was going to end? So Jordi had to tell the holodeck to put together a brand new mystery based on the Sherlock series of novels so Data would finally be stumped?

Well thats what Det. Gorn feels like to me. It's almost like he already knows how each show is gonna end, so he just goes in that direction.

GORN: "What's this tissue doing here? It's damp, must soaked with tears. That means you cry alot and it was YOU that killed so-and-so because they called you a crybaby! Lock him up, boys." (ROLL CREDITS)

Trash.

WORD

And now there's a fourth one this fall. Allegedly it's going to be a revolving door of old L&O cast members (Jerry Orbach, Carey Lowell, maybe even Chris Noth) every week, while the focus is really on the jury members. How this is different from FOX's "The Jury" show is still up in the air.

I agree with DJFrosty's comments about Criminal Intent, too. The original premise was kind of interesting, if slightly Columbo-esque; it would be Law & Order but mostly from the criminal's perspective. Now it's the one thing that Law & Order shows traditionally try not to be; a star vehicle.

SVU isn't a bad show, but it hurts the original series by watering down the kinds of murders it can investigate. What I love about watching the classic reruns is that in any given episode it could deal with a rape/murder, or a white-collar crime, or a random shooting or a myriad of other topics. Now the original series only seems to deal with the 'ripped from the headlines' nonsense.

The problem with Cowell is that he manages WESTLIFE!! The fact that he is responsible for one of the worst bands created tells me he has no idea what musical talent is.
