While I know that arguing about lists is pointless, I still have to question The Stone Roses as the best album in British musical history. I own it. I like it. But the best ever? Any ways, here’s the top 10 British albums of all time as compiled by the Guardian with a link to the rest
1. The Stone Roses – The Stone Roses 2. The Beatles – Revolver 3. The Clash – London Calling 4. Van Morrison – Astral Weeks 5. The Beatles –Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band 6. The Beatles – The White Album 7. Rolling Stones – Sticky Fingers 8. Rolling Stones – Exile on Main Street 9. Massive Attack – Blue Lines 10. P.I.L. – Metal box
How about a Kinks album in the top ten not to mention Country Life od for your pleasure by Roxy Music. Or Procul Harums first album or A Salty Dog. And I belive Van would consider himself Irish, not British.
Tied for 9th: St. Louis Blues, New York Islanders, Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils, Nashville Predators, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa Senators Tied for 5th:Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche Tied for 3rd:San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers Second:Calgary Flames The Champion:Tampa Bay Lightning
Me myself, I would have to throw Pyromania (Def Leppard) or Rio (Duran Duran) in there somewhere...
"I'm very sorry the government taxes their tips, that's fucked up. That ain't my fault. It would seem to me that waitresses are one of the many groups the government fucks in the ass on a regular basis. Look, if you ask me to sign something that says the government shouldn't do that, I'll sign it, put it to a vote, I'll vote for it, but what I won't do is play ball. And as for this non-college bullshit I got two words for that: learn to fuckin' type, 'cause if you're expecting me to help out with the rent you're in for a big fuckin' surprise."
Any list that includes the Stone Roses over any WHO album is bullshit to begin with. Then to have PIL over a Sex Pistols record? These people are crazy AND full of shit.
And though I'm not a huge Oasis fan by any stretch of the means, but back in the late 90's, you would have thought they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm surprised that 'Definitely Maybe' or 'Morning Glory' weren't on there.

I'd go with 'Hysteria' myself. I'd like to see James' 'Laid' on the list.
Guys, Zeppelin's on the list three times.

They are but should be much higher based on what they meant. The Kinks are on the list but any group that literally invents power chord rock need an album in the top ten. As do the Yardbirds for what they accomplished and what it led to.

Music critics LOATH hard rock, some of it which is deserved; yet they are always biased towards punk. Even though Zeppelin did many other styles then hard rock, they still get dragged down by the stigma. Of course Sabbath gets screwed again, PARANOID would make my top of anything, but can't get passed the 80's on this list.

Really? If so, then where are The Adicts, Sham 69, Cocksparrer, the Buzzcocks, and the Anti-Nowhere League, all of whom have albums better than Never Mind the Bollocks . . .. While I agree completely that Sabbath got screwed (as did Motorhead), to say this list is biased towards punk is just wrong.
Wait aren't the Cure British? I checked this list pretty closely and they aren't on it.
smark/net attack wienerville advisory stays at BLUE alert - Guarded (With Benoit & Eddie being World & WWE champions you'd expect all's be right but JBL PPV main event causes a threat)- 5/6
