According to 411maniaWON.. Rock has stated he will be at Raw Monday and play a factor in the HHH/Eugene match. Sometimes, I wish I didn't read spoilers and this is one of those times, but damn.

Honestly there isn't much you can do with the Rock character. No more foes to really vaniquish(maybe H) but he's there to just show up and help the new guys. I think anyway.

Last time he appeared the ratings jumped, and made for a great show. If he's in town and willing to go on the show, it only to WWE's benefit. The fans love him, and when he appears it's too compelling not to take notice. The rumors about HHH asking Eugene to join Evolution are a little intruiging, but you never know what they have planned. They might even have Rock be at one of the PPV's during the upcoming 3 events in a 5-week period, since it seems so dismal the more frequent PPV plan will become the standard.

How has he become a joke? ... He's helping get younger guys over.

I have to disagree. I have never really been a Rock fan but I don't think you can call him a joke. When he shows up you know it will be for a good reason. And he is willing to wrestle and lose to a lot of the youngers in the locker room. And the fans love him.

Actually he does. The whole Rock/Foley vs Evolution match. If it helps the storyline I think he will show at a ppv. Will he be at this ppv, most likely not. But you have to give him credit for trying to help. Plus, if when he does he few returns a year that he does now at wrestles at ppvs, people would be upset that he takes up a slot from a younger guy just for one match. But he doesn't.

A joke? He pops the rating everytime he comes on, helps younger guys get over and lastly, he really doesn't have to do any of it. But you call him a joke? You think of him as a joke because he isn't there every week? Is that your reasoning for such a statement?

The Rock was on RAW for one shot a few weeks back, and for about 3 weeks before Mania. How many PPVs has he shown up on in the last...let's say year?

WrestleMania XX.

His next most recent PPV appearance is at 2003's Backlash against Goldberg.

If Rocky was on every RAW everybody would bitch about him taking a spot away from the younger guys. If he's not on RAW, people whine about him NOT taking a spot away from younger guys. The guy established Brock Lesnar, laid down for The Hurricane and helped out with Randy Orton. Now he's doing it with Eugene. What more can we ask for a mega-popular, mega-entertaining occasional wrestler??

You're contradicting yourself.

You see, it would make no sense for him to continually go over on someone at a PPV since he isn't around for three months at a time.

With the star power of the Rock, I'm sure that he could watlz in and say, "well, I'm not gonna make myself look bad on PPV and lose." But he says that he loves the business that made him the household name he is today, therefore he will continue to show up when he can.

And, as was stated earlier, he's ratings gold. I'd much rather see him do a 15 minute promo that much of the garbage that's on there.

I think he's saying that Rock's character comes in acting like a tough guy, but ultimately he can't win a match anymore. Which is true to a point. If you look at wrestling from pure mark mode, outside of the context of putting over the new guy and whatnot, then Rock has kinda turned into a choke artist by necessity, and tarnishes his legacy every time he comes in because he just keeps losing.

Yeah but The Rock was never built on wins, he was built on being entertaining. He was a chickenshit heel for the longest time and then as a face, he got beat up constantly.

After putting over Brock, he's beaten Hogan, beaten Austin, nobody really remembers The Hurricane fluke pin, Goldberg beat him, he beat up La Resistance in a guest shot one time, and he didn't take the pin in the tag match at Mania, then he saved Eugene and helped beat up Coach & Cade. That's not too shabby for a part-timer.

The Rock is bulletproof. He has nothing to gain by winning and nothing to lose by losing. People are just happy to see Mr. Hollywood talk some trash.

If he screws Triple H, that helps continue his 'feud' with Evolution and get some revenge for WrestleMania. It also brings them another step towards the eventual Rock/Randy Orton match that you know they want to do.

Damn. I wish I hadn't read the spoilers either. It was a fun surprise when he showed up on RAW and helped his little retarded buddy out.

Let's see... The Rock makes somewhere in the vicinity of $2-3 million with the WWE, plus a share of the merchandise sales. He reportedly made $5.5 mil for Scorpion King, $12.5M for The Rundown and $15M for Walking Tall. He's already made $30 million for movies. He doesn't need to really work AT ALL. But look at his schedule (that I crammed together from 3-4 sources)...

Royal Rumble 2000: Won Royal Rumble.
No Way Out 2000: Lost to Big Show.
WrestleMania 2000: Lost to Triple H in main event.
Backlash 2000: Beat Triple H in main event.
Judgment Day 2000: Lost to Triple H in main event.
King of the Ring 2000: Won WWF Title back (pinning Vince McMahon).
Fully Loaded 2000: Beat Chris Benoit in main event.
SummerSlam 2000: Beat Triple H & Kurt Angle in main event.
Unforgiven 2000: Beat Kane, Undertaker & Benoit in main event. Same month finished shooting on Mummy Returns. Most of the role was CGI, so he found time to help put over Benoit & Kurt Angle on RAW & Smackdown weekly.
No Mercy 2000: Lost WWF Title to Kurt Angle.
Survivor Series 2000: Beat Rikishi.
Armageddon 2000: Lost to Kurt Angle in 6-way Cell Match.
Royal Rumble 2001: Got tossed from Royal Rumble by Kane.
No Way Out 2001: Beat Kurt Angle for WWF Title.
WrestleMania X7: Lost WWF Title to evil Stone Cold.
The Rock missed Backlash, Judgment Day, King of the Ring & InVasion to promote The Mummy Returns during it's May 4th opening, then shot The Scorpion King, then returned in late July 2001 and sided with the WWF in the InVasion.
SummerSlam 2001: Beat Booker T in main event.
Unforgiven 2001: Beat Booker T & Shane McMahon.
No Mercy 2001: Lost to Chris Jericho.
Survivor Series 2001: Part of victorious Team WWF in main event.
Armageddon 2001: Lost to Chris Jericho, who then beat Steve Austin to unify WWF & WCW Titles.
Royal Rumble 2002: Lost to Chris Jericho in main event.
No Way Out 2002: Beat Undertaker.
WrestleMania X8: Beat Hulk Hogan.
Missed Backlash, Judgment Day & King of the Ring to promote the April opening of The Scorpion King and rehab some injuries. Returned in late June.
Vengeance 2002: Beat Kurt Angle & Undertaker for Undisputed Title.
SummmerSlam 2002: Lost to Brock Lesnar.
Then Rocky shot The Rundown from September to January. Evil Hollywood Rock returned in late January.
No Way Out 2003: Beat Hulk Hogan.
WrestleMania XIX: Beat Steve Austin.
Backlash 2003: Lost to Goldberg.
Rocky left again after a one-night only appearance on RAW, shot Walking Tall and promoted The Rundown's September release (which made a RAW appearance). He did another one-shot gig on RAW in December, then shot Be Cool in February. We got another Rock return in March for the Mania build...and built-in Walking Tall promotion.
WrestleMania XX: Lost to Evolution.
Another loss, and another leave for promoting a film (Walking Tall). The Rock showed up again to build Eugene, and now is shooting Spy Hunter. And he's shooting Instant Karma when the script is done.

He's rich. He's under contract, but could say "Fuck it" and leave whenever he felt like it. He keeps coming back and putting over guys. Why? Because he's awesome.

I most definitely smell what Freeway420 is cooking. The man has already made enough money that he doesn't have to work another day in his life. Practically anything he could want, short of a Miami skyscraper, he could buy. He has zero financial incentive to continue to work for WWE.

But he's still with WWE because he enjoys being a sports-entertainer, and he loves the company and wants to see it continue to succeed. Appear on the same TV screen as The Rock, and you're instantly relevant. If The Rock puts you over in a promo, you're instantly a star.

So what's the objection, again?

Who says Eugene will ALLOW Rock to help him win, after the big con job HHH pulled on him last week?

I'm not saying Rock won't be there to turn the tide in Eugene's favor, but what if HHH tells Eugene to attack "The Great One"?

Then you could have Jericho attack Evolution, setting up a HHH-Jericho match for Vengeance.

Just saying it's a possibility...

If the Eugene experiment has shown anything, it's that fans want to see more William Regal. He should be plugged into a feud with HHH or a later title shot if HHH wins the gold. Regal has shined through this whole feud. As for Eugene, I'm not so sure.
